While leftists are decrying the move, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer has said that reinstating the policy shows to the American people “and to people of the world... what a value we place on life.” Photo: liveactionnews.org Students for Life of America, among many others, have come out in praise of the president’s move: “This is a great start to the Trump presidency and we hope this is only the beginning of defunding Planned Parenthood and the end of forcing American taxpayers to fund an industry that ends hundreds of thousands of innocent lives a year and irreparably harms women. This is a new day for all Americans, and we are excited about reversing Planned Parenthood " s hold on Washington.” With this good news in mind, it is important to remember that there is much yet to be done, including the defunding and outlawing of Planned Parenthood in America, which performs 35% of the nation " s abortions. As Human Life International President Fr. Shenan Boquet said, “The Trump administration has kept one important promise to those who put them in office, we pray that these pro-life decisions continue and that all federal support of abortion is ended without delay, taking us closer to the time when all abortions will be ended, all innocent life welcomed, and all mothers supported in their decision to welcome life into the world.” The Orthodox Church firmly upholds the sanctity of life and condemns abortion in no uncertain terms, as ably testified to by Holy Scripture and the 2,000-year holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church. 24 января 2017 г. It is notable that this year’s march received more major media coverage than ever, with C-Span livestreaming the rally, and CNN livestreaming it on social media, writes Church Militant . The increased coverage was likely due to the presence of Vice President Mike Pence’s and perhaps also President Trump’s interview in which he called out the media for traditionally ignoring the march. A time lapse of the entire march from the Students for Life of America can be seen below: 30 января 2017 г. Orthodox activists of " Pro-life " movement propose discussion of a bill banning abortions in Russian Federation Moscow, August 13, 2013 A bill banning abortions in Russia was discussed on August 12 at the round table in the Central House of Journalists. The discussion was arranged by the organizers of the " Pro-life " international festival; activists from other Orthodox, public, parents " organizations and political parties who share the " Pro-life " movement " s values took part in the discussion, reports Blagovest-info . The bill was developed in implementation of decisions of the fourth International festival of social technologies in defense of family values-- " Pro-life 2013 " that took place on July 8-10 in Moscow. The authors of the bill are proposing to make changes in the federal law of the Russian Federation " On Fundamentals of Health Care of Citizens in the Russian Federation " and the Penal Code of the Russian Federation, to adjust the Russian legislation in accordance with international regulations, specifically, with the UN " Convention on the Rights of the Child " . The legislative amendments are aimed at protecting human life, beginning the moment of conception. The proposed law states there is a necessity for " documentary registration of conception " by a medical organization. The bill introduces a ban on induced abortion except in special cases when the life of a mother is under threat. The sanction for unlawful induced abortions is imprisonment (up to 5 years) or compulsory labor or restrictions on professional activity: for the would-be mother and those who obliged her to make an abortion, and those who operated on her unlawfully. The authors of the bill equate a pharmaceutical abortion to a surgical abortion: a woman taking an abortive pill or using a contraceptive device is subject to imprisonment as well as those who produce, keep and sell abortive pharmaceuticals. 15 августа 2013 г. ...      Friday, January 22, 2016 marks the 43rd Anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States, on which Orthodox Christians from across the country will gather in the US Capital for the annual March for Life or participate in similar regional gatherings. His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon will join other Orthodox Christian hierarchs, students from OCA seminaries, and clergy and faithful from around the country in the annual March, which will conclude with prayers on the steps of the US Supreme Court building for the victims of abortion. At 4:00 p.m. on Friday—the day of the March—a two-day retreat titled “Pro-Life is Pro-Woman: An Orthodox Retreat on the Sanctity of Life” will open at the Orthodox Church in America’s Saint Nicholas Cathedral, 3500 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC. Sponsored by the Office of the Metropolitan, the retreat will conclude after the Saturday evening Vigil. It will feature prayer and worship, educational sessions and discussions, and opportunities for fellowship. Speakers include Archpriest Chad Hatfield, Chancellor of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Yonkers, NY; Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America; Hierodeacon Herman [Majkrzak], Liturgical Music Instructor at Saint Vladimir’s Seminary; and Khouria Frederica Mathewes-Green, noted pro-life author and speaker. The registration fee, which includes all meals and lodging, is only per participant per night. “In addition to an open invitation to our hierarchs, clergy and faithful to bear witness to the sanctity of life during the March, we are especially hopeful that many of our youth, young adults and college students will participate in the retreat at the cathedral,” said Metropolitan Tikhon. “Not only is it imperative that Orthodox Christians participate in the March, but the ongoing need for education with regard to pro-life issues, especially among our younger faithful, is crucial in the Church’s ongoing efforts to proclaim the God-given gift of life with renewed fervor. We pray that many of our faithful will attend the weekend retreat as part of their ongoing faith formation.” For more information on the retreat or to register, please visit www.oca.org/marchforlife . Tweet Нравится Polish Parliament to consider bill banning all abortions Warsaw, September 19, 2016      The Polish Federation of Defenders of Life has submitted a bill banning all abortions to the Seim (the Polish Parliament), reports Polskie Radio . On September 14, 2016, the Polish Seim received a bill which bans all abortions. The draft law was written by the Polish Federation of Defenders of Life which comprises more than ninety pro-life organizations. The bill proposes a complete ban on abortions without exception. However, the legislation does not make women answerable for having abortions. Seim deputies will begin considering the bill next week. It should also be noted that in September the Polish Parliament will simultaneously work on another draft law which prohibits abortions. This bill, prepared by the “Stop Abortions!” organization, provides that women are liable for terminating their pregnancies. To date this bill has not been supported by Polish bishops. At the present time abortions in Poland are prohibited with the exception of the following three circumstances: when the mother’s life or health is endangered by the pregnancy; when there is a high risk of malformation of the fetus; and when the pregnancy is a result of a rape. Eastern Orthodox make strong showing at March for Life/Православие.Ru Eastern Orthodox make strong showing at March for Life Washington, D.C., January 27, 2014 L-R: Bishop John (Abdallah), Bishop Mark (Maymon), Archbishop Nathaniel (Popp), and Metropolitan Tikhon (Mollard)      March for Life President Jeanne Monahan addressed concerns that the annual pro-life walk was too heavily Catholic, reaching out to evangelical Protestants. But based on the participation of Eastern Orthodox Christians in this year " s events, marchers may have been forgiven for believing the whole march breathed with the other lung. Every major event, and several minor ones, featured distinguished clergy from the world " s second largest Christian denomination. Archpriest John Jillions, the chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), represented his church at the “National Memorial for the Preborn and their Mothers and Fathers,” an annual interdenominational prayer service held at Constitution Hall. The most visible participation came as Orthodox clergy filled the stage at the March for Life, which began with an invocation given by Bishop Demetrios (Kantzavelos), the Greek Orthodox bishop of Chicago. He prayed that the public witness would reach “civil authorities who have legislated against the rights of the unborn, jurists who have adjudicated against life, physicians who have not healed but have brought harm and death, parents who have made choices to end life in the womb – some callous and self-interested, others tragic and conflicted,” and “young persons raised in a culture that espouses a right for some to kill.” Bishop Demetrios, who also participated in the 2014 Chicago March for Life, said that supporting the right to abortion is based in “profound ignorance.” “Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do,” he said. He was joined on stage by the ruling hierarchy of the OCA (Metropolitan Tikhon, Bishop Melchisedek, Bishop Mark, Bishop Michael), as well as representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Antiochian Orthodox Church, Armenian Orthodox Church, Syriac Orthodox Church, and a representative of the U.S. Catholic bishops.

Patriarch of Serbia: " Dissuade mothers from abortions "/Православие.Ru Patriarch of Serbia: " Dissuade mothers from abortions " Belgrade, November 27, 2013 Patriarch Irinej of Serbia. Photo: Fr. Ignatius (Shestakov)      Patriarch Irinej of Serbia during his visit to the " People " s front " obstetrical and gynecological clinic in Belgrade has called upon the medics to dissuade women intending to make abortions from taking this step. " It cannot be justified, when for the benefit of some kind of a ‘better life’ and ‘standards’ such a sin is committed. There is no greater event than a birth of new life, " stressed the Serbian Patriarch. According to the head of the Church of Serbia, by helping infants to come to this world doctors of this clinic do a great and holy work, while the crying of babes is the best music in the world. " We are living in an epoch when many values are not taken not in the way that they deserve. One of these values is life. We see how easily we refuse the lives of these little creatures, " noted the Serbian Patriarch, stressing that the tough word " abortion " means something human nature rebels against. Patriarch Irinej has reminded his people that Serbian villages are dying out, there are fewer and fewer children in schools; but the people must not allow themselves to disappear. The head of the Serbian Church has called all to do all their best, so that cradles in Serbia should outnumber graves and the Serbian people should live and increase in number in their land. EU pro-life petition surpasses 1.8 million signatures/Православие.Ru EU pro-life petition surpasses 1.8 million signatures November 11, 2013 A pro-life petition on the European Citizen " s Initiative website - the EU " s equivalent to epetitions.direct.gov.uk or whitehouse.gov/petitions‎ - has gathered more than 1.89 million signatures. The One of Us pro-life group " s petition states that " the EU should establish a ban and end the financing of activities which presuppose the destruction of human embryos " . This would include banning all abortions and stem cell research that destroys embryos as part of the method. The petition closed on 2 November 2013, but final calculations have been completed nine days later. At this stage, the organising group reports that 20 countries have reached the minimum threshold of signatures required in order to receive a response from the European Commission. The One of Us initiative has garnered support from Christian communities all across Europe, with Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox communities all acting in unison. A large plank of the legal argument is based upon the European Court of Justice " s case of Brüstle v. Greenpeace in 2011. The case involved neuropathologist Professor Brüstle " s acquisition of a patent for a treatment for Parkinson " s disease based on the use of embryonic stem cells. This was objected to by Greenpeace, which then sued Brüstle in the German Federal Patent Court. The court in turn referred to parts of the European Biotechnology Directive (98/44/EC) and how it impacted patentability of stem cell-based developments in the EU. Article six of the directive prohibits " uses of human embryos for industrial or commercial purposes " but it didn " t specifically explain what it meant by " human embryos " . This is where the European Court of Justice stepped in, and ruled that a human ovule must be regarded as a human embryo, recognising that an embryo " initiates the human development process " . The One of Us organisers argue that this ruling demands broader European action. They claim that it contradicts assertions made by Maltese EU Commissioner John Dalli that abortion is not an issue that the EU comments on.

Prague pro-life march sees record numbers as abortions decrease Moscow, April 25, 2017 Photo: praguemorning.cz      Thousands of pro-life activists took to the Prague streets on Saturday, bearing flags, white crosses, and banners reading “Children Bring Hope” and “Scrap the abortion law.” Organizers estimate that about 5,000 people participated in the event, including the cardinal of the Czech Republic capital Dominik Duka, reports the Prague Daily Monitor . The march gained the support of political, religious and public figures and several Czech and foreign organizations, according to Prague Morning . The event had drawn 2,000 to 3,000 participants in previous years, according to LifeSiteNews . Cardinal Duka wrote on his personal Facebook page that the event in fact gathered 5-6,000 or more. The 17th National March for Life and Family was organized by Hnuit pro zivot CR, a pro-life movement of the Czech Republic. “Most importantly, we marched for something, not just ‘against’ something, as is usual for us. We want to be not only in opposition, but to occupy a position and to encourage for good, not just to criticize,” Cardinal Duka commented. The movement’s deputy head Zdenka Rybova stated that women are often forced into abortions by their circumstances, including a partner’s disinterest and concerns about the future, while lamenting that the state supports single mothers more than it does functioning families. “We want to be a society in which people care for one another… The aim is to support a healthy family in the social climate. This does not mean welfare benefits, but social credit,” she explained. Abortion was legalized in Czechoslovakia in 1957, with all restrictions being lifted in 1986, which saw a rise in the number of abortions. Abortion is legally allowed up to the twelfth week of pregnancy in the Czech Republic today, with medical reasons up to the twenty-fourth week, and in case of grave problems with the fetus at any time. The number of abortions has been decreasing in the country for many years. In 1989, 10.8 abortions per 1,000 inhabitants were registered. In 2010 this figure went down to 2.3 abortions per 1,000 inhabitants and in 2015 it was 1.9 abortions. Last year, the Czech Statistical Office registered 20,300 abortions, compared with 20,400 in 2015 and 24,000 in 2010. 25 апреля 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Смотри также Комментарии Подпишитесь на рассылку Православие.Ru Рассылка выходит два раза в неделю: Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку
