The year of St. Theodore’s death is unknown, but it is probable that he died in the second half of the fifteenth century at a great old age (S. M. Soloviev in his History of Russia gives the year of his death as 1483). The saint was buried in the Far Caves of St. Theodosius (He is also commemorated on the Synaxis of the Monastic Fathers of the Far Caves, August 28/September 10). His glorification apparently took place at the end of the sixteenth century, since in the year 1638 the hieromonk Athanasius Kal’nophysky testified that, “St. Theodore rests in the Theodosiev Cave, where his body was discovered incorrupt.” (From OCA.org ). St. Yaropolk, prince of Vladimir, Volhynia Also Commemorated November 22/December 5 St. Yaropolk Holy Prince Yaropolk Izyaslavich, in Holy Baptism Peter, was the grandson of Yaroslav the Wise, and great-grandson of St. Vladimir. He shared the sad fate of his father, the Kievan Great Prince Izyaslav, expelled by his brothers from Kiev. Yaropolk journeyed on various missions for his father to the Polish king, the German emperor, and the Bishop of Rome St. Gregory VII (1073-1085). Upon the death of Great Prince Svyatoslav in 1078, Prince Izyaslav was restored to his principality, and Yaropolk received Vyzhgorod. After the death of his father, he was given as his appanage the city of Vladimir-Volhynia, from which the Rostislavichi attempted to displace him. On the way from Vladimir to Zvenigorod-Galitsk, Yaropolk was treacherously murdered by Neryadets, one of his retainers (+1086). The murderer had been bribed by the Rostislavichi. The body of Yaropolk was transferred to Kiev and on December 5 was buried at the monastery of St. Demetrius in the Church of St. Peter, which he himself had begun to build. Many Church memorials, beginning with the Chronicle of St. Nestor, testify that the murdered Prince Yaropolk is to be venerated in the rank of saints well-pleasing to God. Mission accomplished! Kenyan clergy receive motorcycles as a result of the Midwest faithful’s tremendous generosity!      In November 2015, His Grace, Bishop Paul initiated a diocesan-wide drive to raise funds to purchase ten motorcycles for Orthodox Christian clergy ministering in Kenya, in partnership with the Orthodox Christian Mission Center [OCMC]. The drive aimed at raising Photo: http://domoca.org/      “When I had learned that many Kenyan clergy had to walk great distances to minister to their flocks, a light went off, and I asked myself, ‘what can we as a diocese do to help the Kenyan clergy?’” Bishop Paul said. “I thought this was a worthy project that was well within our abilities as a diocese to address.” The drive resonated well with parishes, families and individuals in the Diocese of the Midwest — so much so that within months, a total of had been raised. Subsequently, at an OCMC pre-lenten dinner at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Des Plaines, IL in March 2016, Bishop Paul presented a check to a very grateful Priest Martin Ritsi, OCMC’s Executive Director. Photo: http://domoca.org/      According to Father Martin, was sent to His Grace, Bishop Athanasios of Kisumu and Western Kenya in May 2016, making it possible to purchase 16 motorcycles. During the next two months, was sent to His Grace, Bishop Neophytos of Nyeri and Mount Kenya, making it possible to purchase 13 more motorcycles. Additional funds are slated to be sent to His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios in the near future. Photo: http://domoca.org/ “This was really a wonderful effort, making life easier for the clergy who receive the motorcycles, who preciously had to travel by bus, bicycle or foot to serve their people,” said Father Martin. “But much more than making their lives easier, it enables them to reach further and more frequently to minister to their flocks and reach new peoples who are thirsting for Christ around them. I think this is the greatest benefit that will come from this gift, and I thank you for making it possible.” Bishop Paul echoed Father Martin’s observations. “The thing that spoke most to me was seeing a photo of Bishop Neophytos sitting on one of the motorcycles with a big smile on his face, and another in which he is surrounded by his vested clergy who were going to receive motorcycles,” he said. “This brought joy to me to know that by our modest gift, we were able to provide concrete assistance to the Kenyan clergy, who function in far more difficult circumstances than we do here. Thanks so much to those in our diocese who contributed and made this possible!” Diocese of the Midwest (OCA) 18 ноября 2016 г. Sifton, Manitoba " s historic church destroyed by fire/Православие.Ru Sifton, Manitoba " s historic church destroyed by fire Sifton, MB, Canada, Sept. 11, 2010 - [OCA] On Wednesday night, September 8, 2010, the hamlet of Sifton lost one of its landmarks as Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church burned completely to the ground. The church, built some 100 years ago in the " Lemko " style common to what is today southeastern Poland, had been restored completely several years ago and had been declared a heritage site. According to local residents, flames were first spotted at about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night. Firefighters were unable to extinguish the rapidly spreading fire. By 1:00 a.m. Thursday, only the smouldering basement remained. It is unknown what or who started the fire, although the recent increase in vandalism and thefts in the area has led some locals to suspect arson. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have initiated an investigation. There was no insurance on the building due to a lack of funds. A number of historic artifacts, including books, were destroyed. " The Sifton church had been restored and renovated recently, with some financial assistance from the Archdiocese and elsewhere, " said His Eminence, Archbishop Seraphim of Ottawa and Canada. " It had become a stopping-point in northern Manitoba, and it had established a registered Quiet Garden. The loss has many aspects beyond historical, emotional and sentimental ones. I hope we learn a lesson. " At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, Sifton was an important center of religious activity for the Orthodox mission in Canada. Located near the church was Holy Ascension Monastery, Orphanage, and Pastoral School, established in part due through the efforts of Archbishop Arseny [Chahovtsov]. The monastery and parish served many pioneering immigrants from Ukraine and elsewhere for several decades. The monastery existed into the 1960s, when the depopulation of rural areas began to significantly affect the Sifton region.

Plans were also discussed for joint-ministry and fraternal cooperation among the jurisdictions in the future. Bishop Job of Kashira said that he does not see any problem with the creation of an Assembly; however, he would require that the guidelines passed at the fourth Pan-Orthodox pre-council conference, which took place in June 2009, at Shambesi, be strictly adhered to. “Any changes in the borders of an assembly of bishops in the diaspora should only take place based upon the decision passed at the meeting of Primates and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches, which is called together by the Patriarch of Constantinople,” Bishop Job reminded those present. Taft Р.Ф. Anton Baumstark " s Comparative Liturgy Revisited//OCA 265. Rome: PIO 2001. P. 191–232.
