3D panoramic tour of Moscow’s Novospassky Monastery available online Moscow, May 2, 2017 Novospassky Monastery. Photo: Wikipedia      A new 3D virtual tour of Moscow’s famous Novospassky Monastery, developed by Google Street View, is now available on the monastery’s website . The new tour, available under the “Паломникам” (“Pilgrims”) tab, offers panoramic views throughout the monastery, both inside and outside the several churches, as well as the famous 18th-century bell tower. The monastery is known as the burial place of generations of Romanov boyars, which is also included in the virtual tour. Among those buried there are Ksenia Shestova, the mother of Michael Romanov, the first Romanov Tsar, and Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia, the seventh child of Tsar Alexander II, and husband to the Grand Duchess and New Martyr Elizabeth. Work on the project began in the fall of 2016, and will continue upon completion of the restoration work underway in Novospassky Monastery, which is currently halfway finished according to the site of the Moscow mayor. Novospassky Monastery is one of Moscow’s oldest. According to some accounts it was first established in the 1150s by the founder of Moscow, Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, south of the Moscow River, where the Danilov Monastery is currently located. The Savior Monastery was reestablished within the Kremlin walls in the 14th century by Grand Prince Ivan Kalita. The main church, The Savior in the Forest, was Moscow’s oldest surviving structure until it was destroyed by the atheist Soviets in the 1930s. Grand Prince Ivan III moved the monastery to its current location on Krutitsky Hill overlooking the Moscow River in 1490, reconsecrating it as New Savior Monastery. The monastery was completely rebuilt in the 1640s upon the Romanov’s ascension to the Moscow throne, with most of the surviving buildings dating from that period. The monastery was turned into a prison under the Soviet Union, and later a police drunk tank, before being assigned to an art restoration institute in the 1970s. The monastery was finally returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1991. 2 мая 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Смотри также Комментарии Подпишитесь на рассылку Православие.Ru Рассылка выходит два раза в неделю: Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Russian Palestine is a marvelous spiritual and historical phenomenon, headed by the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem founded in 1847. Through the care, energy, and labors of representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian government in the latter half of the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century, a whole cluster of holy sites connected with significant events in sacred history where acquired for Russian pilgrims, many churches, pilgrimage guesthouses, and metochia were built, and several monasteries were founded. Russian Palestine represents vast enlightenment, scholarly research, and charitable activity. Its golden age could be considered those thirty years (1865–1894) when the head of the Russian spiritual mission was Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin). Despite its perennial lack of money, many hardships and obstacles, he was able to acquire a large amount of land, the value of which cannot be measured in the material terms: a parcel in Hebron with the Oak of Mamre, under which the patriarch Abraham received the three mysterious Visitors; a parcel on the Mount of Olives, not far from the site of the Lord’s ascension; land in the settlement of Ein-Karem—the place where the Most Holy Theotokos and righteous Elizabeth met; parcels in biblical Jericho and in Haifa (Joppa) with the tomb of righteous Tabitha, who was resurrected by the holy apostle Peter, and others. Thanks to the scholarly work of Archimandrite Antonin in ecclesiastical archeology, near the church of the Lord’s Sepulcher was discovered the threshold to the Judgment gates, through which our Savior’s way of the cross passed, and an ancient necropolis in Haifa. The Russian presence in the Holy Land became possible also thanks to the charity of Orthodox Russian people—from 1886 on, every year on the feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, Palm Sunday, donations for the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem were collected in every diocese and church in Russia. Russian Palestine was created and supported by the whole world, however it suffered great losses, and became forgotten and desolate after the Bolshevik revolution. That in our days the monasteries, metochia, and pilgrimage guesthouses of the Russian Mission in the Holy Land are again able to receive the thousands of pilgrims who come every year is the result of peoples’ enormous labor, faith, hope, and sacrificial love.   23 октября 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Комментарии Подпишитесь на рассылку Православие.Ru Рассылка выходит два раза в неделю: Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

The faithful made their way from the city of Bethphage to Jerusalem. The celebration began with a Vigil and the blessing of palms. April 15, 2014. PRAVMIR. In Jerusalem, on the eve of Palm Sunday, a procession repeating the earthly path of Jesus Christ was held from Bethphage to Jerusalem. Festivities began with a Vigil at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, headed by Igumen Theophan, head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission. Following the reading of the Gospel, the blessing of palms, and the completion of the service, the faithful went to the starting point of the procession. The procession traditionally starts on one of the hills of Bethpage, where the Greek Orthodox Monastery of the Entry into Jerusalem stands, the press service of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission stated. Located there is a canopy above the stone from which, according to tradition, Jesus mounted the donkey. A moleben [supplicatory service] was held, after which the procession began its move toward Jerusalem, headed by Metropolitan Hesychius of Kapitoliada. First the procession went down a hill and up the Mount of Olives, where the Holy Ascension Convent stands, then down to the Kidron stream, then moved up to the Lion’s Gate, where the final prayer was read at the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. Participants of this year’s procession included Abbot Theophan (Lukyanov) of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, Mission clergy, the sisters of the Gorny Convent, along with Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod with a large group of pilgrims. He was 69 years old. Fr. Athanasy was born on June 24, 1946 in Philadelphia. In 1975, he was ordained a deacon, and in the following year a priest, by Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky). In December 1978, Metropolitan Philaret performed Fr. Athanasy’s monastic tonsure. Hieromonk (and later Abbot) Athanasy led Joy of All Who Sorrow parish in Philadelphia for many years; he served in Holy Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ and St. Nicholas Church in Red Bank, NJ, as well as at the convents in the Holy Land – Holy Ascension on the Mount of Olives and the Gethsemane Convent. In December 2005, Metropolitan Laurus elevated Fr. Athanasy to the rank of archimandrite. For many years, Archimandrite Athanasy was the guardian of the myrrh-streaming icon of the Holy Righteous Anna, Mother of the Most Holy Theotokos, with which he traveled to a multitude of churches and monasteries in the dioceses of the Russian Church Abroad. The holy image was painted in the Mount of Olives Convent by Nun Mastridia, and began to stream myrrh in the United States. It was well known that the future priest fell in his childhood and was very badly hurt; he prayed to St. Anna, promising that, when he had the opportunity and the funds, he would order an icon of St. Anna. Archimandrite Athanasy spent the final years of his earthly life at St. Tikhon’s Monastery (OCA) in South Canaan, PA, where the services for the departed will be held. Tuesday, February 9 – Vespers & Matins at 16:30. Panihida – at 19:00. Wednesday, February 10 – Meeting of Metropolitan Tikhon, Divine Liturgy – at 9:00. With sadness, the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of the Orthodox Church in America reported that the church at the Monastery of the Ascension of the Lord here was destroyed by fire around noon on Friday, August 12, 2016. The cause of the blaze is as yet unknown. His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate and Priest Vicar Dan Hoarste traveled to the monastery to be with the monastic community immediately upon learning of the blaze.  His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon requested the faithful to keep the monastery brotherhood in their prayers.  During this difficult time, the Episcopate also offers prayers to grant peace and comfort to the monastic community during this difficult test. Out of concern and a display of support, the Episcopate is establishing a fund for the monastery.  Information on making donations may be found on the Episcopate’s web site.  The total collected will be distributed to the monastery and will be reported in  Solia-The Herald . The agreement was signed at the Kiev Academy by Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America and rector of the pastoral school, and Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary on behalf of the Kiev Theological Academy and Seminary. The partnership is designed to benefit both schools through an exchange of students, teaching and research personnel, experience in the area of modern educational technologies, educational and scientific publications, and of training, scientific and other materials representing mutual interest, as well as the development and implementation of joint research projects, the organization of joint research symposiums, conferences and seminars, and publications, and the mutual providing of the opportunity for publication in editions published by each school. Fr. Gregory Joyce, the dean of the ROCOR pastoral school explains the need for such cooperation: The Pastoral School of the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-America feels strongly that active partnership with higher education theological institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church/Moscow Patriarchate is an important aspect of making the continuing reconciliation of the Russian Church a real, living effort that will bear spiritual fruit, and that this is fully within the spirit of the Act of Canonical Communion signed by the ever memorable Patriarch Aleksey II and Metropolitan Laurus on the day of the Ascension 2007, A similar agreement was signed with the St. Petersburgh Spiritual Academy in February. Also, the school began to offer Spanish-language instruction beginning in February. The pastoral school is named in honor of St. John of Kronstadt because he struggled greatly with his studies as a youth, but after a miraculous Divine intervention, he became an excellent student, receiving the highest grades in his theological studies. 19 мая 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Смотри также Комментарии Подпишитесь на рассылку Православие.Ru Рассылка выходит два раза в неделю: Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку
