Brothers and sisters, this example, which is both terrible and instructive, was before that same country of Greece in which the miraculous Protection of the Mother of God was manifested—which we commemorate today. What signs of special protection did she not show toward her people? How many times were the Scythes and Hagarenes defeated by the Victorious Leader beneath the walls of Constantinople? But when the Mother of God saw that her protection was not improving those she protected, that they needed not mercy but instructive punishment, she took her protection away from them. And three centuries of slavery to the Mohamedans, together with all its attendant forms of humiliation, were barely enough for Greece in order to regain the Mother of Gods’ Protection, which is now visibly beginning to spread over the Greek people. The same thing can happen to every soul that does not take care for its salvation in hope of the Mother of God’s intercession. God’s judgment is the same in both the small and the great: glory… honor, and peace to all who do good and to those who repent of their evil, but tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that does evil, and remains in evil! (cf. Rom. 2:9–10). Knowing this, let us run without any doubts to the protection of the Most Blessed Virgin; but let us not bring our sins to be covered by that protection, without first cleansing them away with the tears of our repentance. The Mother of God heals all infirmities, assuages all sorrows, and covers those very sins, just as soon as they are united with a heart that is broken over them. But she does not and cannot cover those hardened in their sins! Amen. From: Holy Hierarch Innocent (Borisov), Archbishop of Cherson. Works. Archive Statement by the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad on the appointment of exarchs of the Constantinople Patriarchate to Kiev 10 September 2018 year 12:30 The Synod of Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad made a statement concerning the appointment of exarchs of the Constantinople Patriarchate to Kiev. Standing before God in prayerful solidarity with our long-suffering brethren of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, who, being revered and respected throughout the whole of the Orthodox world, is primate of the only recognised canonical Orthodox Church of Christ in Ukraine, we, the members of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, which carries out its ministry in the lands of North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other nations of the West, ministering to numerous emigres from the lands of historic Russia and their descendants, express our profound indignation at the blatant violation of the Holy Canons by the Orthodox Church of Constantinople. The decision of its hierarchy to send its ‘exarchs’ into the canonical territory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, without the agreement and permission of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, is a gross and unprecedented incursion by one Local Church into a distant canonical territory, which has its own Local Church that is alone responsible for the Orthodox flock of that country. This action, taken by His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew and his fellow archpastors, threatens the unity of Holy Orthodoxy. In light of these developments, we call upon the clergy and flock of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, together with the other Local Orthodox Churches, to redouble their holy and ardent prayers for peace in Ukraine, and unfailingly to oppose the evil presently befalling our persecuted brothers and sisters, the children of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. May the Great and Supreme Head of the Church, the Good Shepherd Jesus Christ, grant strength to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and to the Episcopacy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which all those who have departed should repentantly and in appropriate manner approach for canonical reception into the Orthodox Church; and may the Lord grant His Beatitude, together with his clergy and flock, long-suffering patience, a multitude of His mercies, blessings, and consolation in the tribulation that now befalls the faithful of Christ in the land of Ukraine. Amen. Календарь ← 7 April 2024 year

Yes, Lord, the Light-giver, listen to me the sinner at this moment, and grant to me and to them to walk in Your light and remain in it as long as we have the light of this temporary life. Lord grant us that the light of our good works shine in front of the people together with Your without beginning Father and the Holy Spirit. You appointed us to be the light to the nations that we shine to those walking in the darkness. But we have loved the darkness rather than the light, committing evil works. Anyone who does evil works hates the light according to Your faultless word. For this we stumble every day due to our sinning because we walk in the darkness. But make us worthy to live the rest of our life with enlightened eyes and minds. Grant us to live as sons of light and walk in the light of Your commandments. The bright garment of our baptism which we have blackened by our evil works, whiten it like the light, transforming the light into garment. Grant us to dress ourselves with the weapons of light, that we may overcome the lord of darkness, who transforms himself into an angel of light. Yes, Lord, as You shone the light to those who are in darkness and under the shadow of death, likewise, today, shine in our hearts with Your pure light, so that becoming illumined and warmed up in faith, glorify You the one and only original light, exhilarating light to everlasting ages. Amen». After this blessing he places a piece of cotton on the Holy Tomb and miraculously it lights up. With it the Patriarch lights the candles and exits the Holy Edicule. The amazing thing is that the holy light for a few minutes does not burn. Namely, if someone touches his hands with the holy light he will not get burnt. Truly this is one of the greatest Miracles of Christianity that repeats every year on Great Saturday. www.jerusalem-patriarchate Использованное здесь в греческом оригинале причастие κκαιμενον равным образом может передавать и возвратное значение («зажигающийся»), и пассивный залог («зажигаемый»). When couples look for families with whom they can exchange partners, when a woman is considered backward if she hasn’t been unfaithful to her husband, I think that it’s time to lay the myth of Don Juan to rest. Farewell, Don Juans and Cicciolinas, there is simply no room for you to grow in our era, you are commonplace, you are lost in the crowd and no longer stir any admiration, neither indignation, nor envy. This is because in our society, contrasts are little-by-little melting away. The concepts of good and evil have been intermingled beyond any differentiation. The white half of the Taoist yin and yang seems to have darkened, and no more than a tiny white spot flickers feebly against the black sky of sin. Michael Prokurat, Alexander Golitzin, Michael D. Peterson Скачать epub pdf EXORCISM EXORCISM. We do not know as much as we would like about the content and expression of the daily exorcisms that accompanied instruction in the early catechumenate. The texts we have are the same or similar to those that begin the reception into the catechumenate; and these are known to be markedly different in scope and specificity from the daily exorcisms that were performed by the catechists. It would be safe to say that the exorcisms that we now have were the summary statements made by the clergy over the newly enlisted Christian, claiming that person for the Church and removing him from the power of evil. Similarly, the daily exorcisms most probably dealt with very specific sins (q.v.), which were to be overcome before Baptism (q.v.) could take place. It is pointless to propose for this daily practice any of the curious aspects of exorcism currently popular in the American media, when what was most likely at stake was good, sound spiritual direction against sin over a prolonged period of time. This spiritual approach gives us a principle related to the ethics of the way (q.v.) of the Lord, or two ways, providing practical advice for the daily spiritual life of the catechumen, and at the same time demanding accountability from him. When the adult catechumenate is restored, the first three exorcism prayers of the baptismal service should be included at the beginning of catechesis (q.v.), or perhaps interspersed throughout it; and they should be explained as claiming that person for the Kingdom of God and the Church, and removing him or her from the power of evil. Throughout the catechetical period, the teaching of the Two Ways may serve as a guide to deal with specific sins, which are to be overcome before reception into the Church can take place. This is to provide continuing practical advice for the daily spiritual life of the catechumen. The process logically and naturally leads to the individual’s later participation in the sacrament of Confession (qq.v.). Basically, catechesis, exorcism, and confession require good, sound spiritual direction against sin, and accountability to God (q.v.). Venerable Anthony the Abbot of Siya, Novgorod Commemorated on December 7 Saint Anthony of Siya, in the world Andrew, was born into a family of rich farmers in the village of Kekhta near the North Dvina river. In childhood he received a fine education, read much and learned iconography. After the death of his parents, Andrew went to Novgorod, and for five years worked for a boyar [nobleman] there. He later married, but his wife died after a year. Then Andrew decided to devote himself to monasticism. He distributed his goods to the poor and as a wanderer came to the Pachomiev wilderness monastery at the River Kena. Saint Pachomius tonsured him with the name Anthony. Soon he was ordained a hieromonk, and Anthony, with the blessing of the igumen, celebrated the divine services by himself. He went out with the other monks of the monastery to work for the monastery’s needs. Out of love for solitude Saint Anthony eventually left the Pachomiev wilderness, after choosing two companions from the monastic brethren, and he settled upon Mikhailov Island, on the one side washed by the River Sii, and on the other, by encircling lakes. In this harsh frontier within the dense thickets Anthony built a chapel in 1520. But to clear the forest required difficult work, and Anthony’s companions began to grumble against him. Then quite unexpectedly an unknown man furnished them with the means of subsistence, offering money for good measure. The Siya monastery became famous, and inhabitants of surrounding villages often visited it. And again Saint Anthony, taking one disciple, withdrew to a still more remote place on Lake Palun. There, in a solitary cell, he dwelt for three years. When the igumen Theoctistus refused to guide the Siya monastery any longer, the brethren tried to persuade Saint Anthony to return to them. He finally acceded to the request of the monks, again became igumen and piously guided the monastery until his death in the year 1556, when he was seventy-nine years old. Troparion — Tone 1 You renounced the world in favor of the spirit,/Seeking the one God with your whole heart, O Anthony./You retreated to a far wilderness, near waters,/In tears and labors living the angelic life./You gathered a multitude of monks in your wisdom./Visit them and cease not to implore the Holy Trinity/To deliver us from evil/And to save our souls! Kontakion — Tone 8 From your youth you exhausted your flesh by fasting and prayer,/And taking up your cross, you followed Christ./Having joyfully completed your journey to heaven,/You stand with the saints before the Holy Trinity./Now visit your flock and remember those who honor you,/That all the faithful may cry out in thanksgiving:/Rejoice, O wise and righteous Anthony, guide of desert-dwellers! " We Shouldn " t Integrate with Europe as Guided and Weak Partners " - Patriarch Kirill/Православие.Ru " We Shouldn " t Integrate with Europe as Guided and Weak Partners " - Patriarch Kirill Moscow, July 19, 2010, Interfax Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia believes that dialogue of Russia and Ukraine with the European Union should be held from positions of equal rights. " We (Russia and Ukraine - IF) preserve unity as nation. We " re joining the family of other European nations not as guided nation hanging upon words of the other, stronger partner, but as equal partners, bearers of our own historic and cultural code, " Patriarch Kirill said in his interview to Ukrainian TV-channels on the eve of his visit to Ukraine. According to him, " The top brains in Europe and other countries understand pretty well " how important is to preserve national spiritual and cultural identity. " It " s a great challenge in conditions of globalization. We should preserve diversity and the beauty of God " s world, and at the same time develop good international cooperation and peaceful relations among nations, " Patriarch Kirill believes. According to him, if Russians, Ukrainians and Byelorussians refuse their " basic values, " probable destruction of " national matrix " will become " a great catastrophe of civilization - just as if other nations lose their identity. " " The world will be unified and horrific, the world will be easily manipulated. Why? Science Without Religion Can Lead To World Catastrophe, Moscow Nuclear University Rector Believes Source: Interfax-Religion Moscow, October 13, 2015      The National Research Nuclear University (MIFI) rector believes it important for his students to get acquainted with the foundations of the faith. " It is no secret that science has made its way from proclaiming the priority of knowledge over spirituality (from the epoch of the Reformation) and the inevitable deification of it (science) and scientific and technical progress, to further disappointment in its almighty power in the late 20th century. Every vital step of the greatest scientific discoveries (as previous achievements proved to be inexact or even incorrect) made this disappointment grow, " Mikhail Strikhanov says in his interview with the Nezavisimaya Gazeta daily published on Tuesday. According to him, humanity eventually comes to mass attraction with occultism, " even open Satanism. " The scientist believes that stories about UFOs and phenomena of science fiction and fantasy prove it as it is " a modern form of occult beliefs. " " It means science that stands on atheistic, primitive positions leads to this satanic form of religiosity, " the MIFI rector believes. According to him, true scientific knowledge cannot restrict itself to only one method. " In this case, religion and theology become a powerful instrument for studying the world, as together with science in its traditional understanding they can create a more adequate, multi-dimensional world view, " the rector said. The theology department was opened in the MIFI, which is the leading Russian higher educational establishment preparing nuclear physicists, two years ago. This decision caused heated discussions in the scientific community and mass media. Earlier, Patriarch Kirill consecrated a home chapel in the institute. Developing the topic of connections between science and religion, the MIFI rector noted that science is spiritually and morally neutral knowledge, it is neither good nor evil, " but it can turn into evil, in artificial knowledge leading to corruption of the human personality and global ecological catastrophe. " According to him, religion is a set of moral values, and " if physicists and other scientists are not guided by these values, it will inevitably lead to human catastrophe and the death of the environment, " Strikhanov said. 14 октября 2015 г. A new pamphlet, 10 Questions and Answers on Seventh-Day Adventism will release in October. It directly evaluates the Seventh-Day Adventist cultic background and beliefs, while comparing them to Christianity. (ISBN: 9781596364226 Rose Publishing) Lynn grieves for her son, who now refuses even to receive visits from her at the sect’s rural compound in Vista, California. Alienation from family and friends is common for converts to the Twelve Tribes, who support themselves through their “Yellow Deli” cafes and other businesses. She prays that God will rescue Bryce and reconcile him to his parents and to the Body of Christ. “I don’t know if I’ll ever know why God is allowing this to happen to my family, but I’ll still praise His holy name and believe that He will make all thing work together for good,” said Lynn.
