St. Gurias the Archbishop of Kazan Commemorated on December 5 Saint Gurias, Archbishop of Kazan, (in the world Gregory Rugotin), was the first archbishop of the Kazan diocese, established in 1555. He was born in the town of Radonezh outside Moscow into the family of a courtier. His parents were not wealthy, and so from his early years he had to serve Prince Ivan Penkov as steward of his estates. From his youth, Gregory was pious, humble and gentle, and he preserved his chastity. Accused of improprieties with the prince’s wife, Gregory was locked up in an underground dungeon for two years. This undermined his health, but it also intensified and deepened his religious fervor. In prison, he wrote a small booklet to teach children how to read and write. He donated the proceeds from his primer to the needy. Released from prison, Gregory was tonsured with the name Gurias at the Saint Joseph of Volokolamsk monastery, known for its strict monastic rule. In 1543, he was chosen by the brethren as igumen of this monastery. He administered it for almost nine years, and then he resigned as igumen and lived for two years as a simple monk. Before becoming bishop, Saint Gurias directed the Trinity Selizharov monastery in Tver diocese for one year. He was chosen by lot to the See of Kazan. Assisted by Saint Barsanuphius (April 11), Saint Gurias devoted himself to missionary activity. In his eight years as bishop there, four monasteries were organized, and the Annunciation cathedral church and ten more city churches were built. In 1561 the saint fell grievously ill and could no longer perform the divine services himself. On feastdays they carried him into the church, and he either sat or lay down, since he did not have the strength to walk or even stand. Shortly before his death (1563), he received the great schema from Saint Barsanuphius, and he was buried in the Savior-Transfiguration monastery. On October 4, 1595, the incorrupt relics of the holy hierarchs Gurias and Barsanuphius were uncovered. Saint Hermogenes, Metropolitan of Kazan (May 12), was present at the uncovering of their relics, and he described this event in the lives of these saints. On June 20, 1613, the relics of Saint Gurias were transferred from the Savior-Transfiguration monastery to the Annunciation cathedral church. At present, the relics rest in Kazan in a cemetery church named for the holy Princes Theodore of Murom and his sons David and Constantine (May 21). The Orthodox Church in America 13 декабря 2016 г. Orthodox understanding of the creation of human being in the image and likeness of God based on patristic interpretations was shared at the Volos consultation. The churches were encouraged to engage practically with disability work. Accessibility of buildings as well as theology, assisting and adapting to special needs, equipping clergy and laity to work with persons with disabilities and actively engaging people with disability in the life of the church were the themes in focus. Dr Samuel Kabue, coordinator of EDAN, says that despite several challenges there is a possibility of introducing curricula on disability in a variety of theological institutions around the world, including Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. " It is possible to introduce studies related to disability in Orthodox theological seminaries, faculties and academies as a separate area of study, or even as a topic infused into core courses or programmes of Orthodox institutions, " said Kabue. He stressed the importance of theological encounters with Orthodox theologians and the need for ecumenical dialogue on disability to continue and be sustained. Participants in the Volos consultation also offered theological reflections on two documents: A Church of All and for All produced in 2003 and The Gift of Being: Called to be a Church of All and for All produced in 2014. 14 октября 2015 г. I read a great deal, trying to find an answer. I thought that one could find truth through art. But one day, as I was passing by a hospital, I thought that maybe one of the ways to find the answer to this angst-ridden question could lie in working in a hospital, side by side with people and their sufferings. So I decided to be an orderly.

And that " s right. Evil is like a parasitic magnet that simply attracts more evil. Therefore if we manage to rid our hearts of evil passions then those blood stained nations that embody evil ie the english and turks will no longer be able to occupy our land. The name in Egyptian ought to bear the sense «drawn out» «brought forth». И затем объясняя первоначальное значение и употребление слова MOS, говорит: «In his “Hieroglyphic Dictionary” M. Brugsch shows that the sense «drawing out» is the original one. It is taken from the work of the potter (p. 705). It there means «produce», «bring forth·, and, as M. Brugsch affirms in another passage (p. 698), the derivation of from the Hebrew root , traxit, extraxit, specially also in the senseextraxit e ventre matris» would preserve the true sense of the Egyptian. 754 Ihid. 484: The word m a s i in the sense «to bring» is common... It would be quite intelligible in Egyptian were we to read, «She called his name Masi, saying because I brought (masi) him out of the waters». It is, however, doubtful whether such a proper name would be in accordance with Egyptian usage. Again, it might be possible, with our knowledge of Egyptian, to give a more plansible etymology derived from the word «water», than either of those which Jablonsky and other scholars formerly proposed. The phonetic value of the group (следуют три волнистые линии – обычный иероглифический знак воды) is admitted to be Mu or Mo, and shi denotes a child. Mo-shi, a water-child, would not be an impossible transcription or rendering, were it justified by Egyptian usage.

Among those attending the service was H.E. Peter Priputen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Russian Federation, who was awarded the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, 3rd class, in consideration of his contribution to the development of relations between people in care of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. The Order was presented by Metropolitan Hilarion with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. After the Litany of Fervent Supplication the DECR chairman said a prayer for peace in Ukraine. Archimandrite Serafim (Shemyatovsky), rector of the church, greeted Metropolitan Hilarion and thanked him for attention being rendered to the Representation. Archbishop Michal read out a welcome address from His Beatitude Rastislav, Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia on the occasion of the 20 th  anniversary of the Representation. Metropolitan Hilarion greeted all the worshippers on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and said on his own behalf that the 20 th  anniversary was a remarkable jubilee testifying to the strong links between the two Churches that trace their life and liturgical order to the feat of Ss Cyril and Methodius who enlightened Slavic lands and translated the Holy Scriptures and the liturgical books into the Slavonic language. Though our Lord Jesus Christ who has founded the Church means even more, being a corner stone of the Church and its head ‘The unity of the holy Orthodox Churches is based on the unity of faith and the unity of dogmatic and canonical tradition…. Today we see that some bishops and even heads of the Churches take decisions incompatible with this tradition under external pressure and political circumstances. But the history of the Church will continue. The unity of the Church will be maintained as it is bound by the Holy Eucharist. ‘ DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 7 April 2024 year

Patriarchate of Alexandria to restore deaconess ministry November 21, 2016 Photo: http://www.pravoslavie.ru/98787.html      The Alexandrian Orthodox Church intends to restore the institution of deaconesses which existed in the early centuries of the Orthodox Church, as reported on the patriarchate’s official website . Under the chairmanship of Patriarch Theodoros II the Holy Synod of the Alexandrian Church reviewed the issue at their November 16 session, with a report being offered by Metropolitan Gregory of Cameroon in which he highlighted the missionary focus of the deaconess ministry. His report was followed by a detailed discussion of the issue. Having decided to restore the institution, the Alexandrian synod formed a three-bishop committee for thoroughly studying the issue. What functions, including liturgical, if any, will be entrusted to the new deaconesses remains to be seen. 21 ноября 2016 г. As Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda reminded the Japanese people that their predecessors " have repeatedly risen up from crises, " faith communities throughout the country remembered the victims through prayer and acts of worship. At the National Theater in Tokyo, Emperor Akihito, who is 78 and recovering from heart surgery, and Empress Michiko joined Noda at a memorial service. Live video feeds connected it with ceremonies in the three northeastern coastal prefectures (states) where the tsunami wave came ashore, causing widespread destruction. At 2:46 p.m., the time the quake struck, participants at the services linked hands in a minute " s silence, with the sound of sirens in the background. As of 10 March, the Japanese National Police Agency confirmed 15,854 deaths and 3,155 people missing. The quake and tsunami heavily damaged the Daiichi nuclear power plant in Fukushima, causing radiation leakage. Some 80,000 residents were displaced due to radiation contamination, with one-quarter still in temporary housing. In total, some 340,000 people are still living in temporary housing in northeastern Japan, where once-busy seaside towns are now cleared, barren lots. However, millions of tons of rubble still awaits disposal and regions around the country are blocking the transportation of waste to their areas, according to media reports, in some cases due to radiation fears. Among the many faith responses, the Association of Shinto Shrines issued a suggested prayer to be read during memorial ceremonies that described the calamity, pleaded that there be no more disasters and asked that people live peacefully.

It is especially important for people who have studied theology. How often, as historical examples tell us, people who have seemingly reached the heights of mental knowledge of God, having studied everything, having read everything, become terrible cynics and lead others into yet greater destruction. May it not be so with us, dear brothers and sisters; may we be along with the apostles simple, faithful, sincere, and, of course, to the best of our ability, students and preachers of the risen Christ; may we be bearers of the good news of the all-conquering Gospel truth. " So he knows about the relationship between Orthodox Christianity and Catholicism, " says Kovalevski. Finding neutral ground According to Igor Baranov, one of the editors of the " Catholic Encyclopedia,” Pope Francis’s stances on social issues like marriage, abortion and euthanasia are similar to the Orthodox Church’s. “Just as the image of St. Francis of Assisi is important in Russian culture, so the image of Pope Francis will become close to Russian spirituality,” Baranov said. There has been tension between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church since the 1990s, when Catholics in Ukraine seized Orthodox churches. For that reason, the two sides say that in spite of the positive predictions, it is still very early to talk about a meeting between Pope Francis and Orthodox Patriarch Kirill. “A meeting between the new pontiff and the patriarch would probably have to take place on neutral territory and not until Russia is ready for it,” Kovalevski explained. Orthodox Bishop Hilarion concurs: “I think that a meeting is possible, but its time and place will be largely determined by how quickly we can get over the conflicts that arose in the 1980s and 90s.” Hilarion also said that Pope Francis has declared on more than one occasion that he feels close to the Orthodox Church and would like to have close contact between the two churches. As the diplomatic representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, Hilarion will have his first meeting with the new pope sometime this week. 22 марта 2013 г.
