Although there were some difficulties a few years ago, he said, now we can resume common theological discussions. He referred to the 2016 ELCF Bishops’ Assembly’s confirmation that the Finnish Lutherans uphold the traditional biblical understanding of marriage as a turning point in the resumption of the relationships. In his speech of greeting Bishop Seppo Häkkinen reminded the gathering of the prehistory of the dialogue pointing to the decisive role played in its organization by the late Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov) of Leningrad and NObgorod and the late Archbishop Martti Simojoki of Turku and Finland. After that reports were made on the present situation in the Russian Orthodox Church and the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Finland. These reports were followed by a discussion on the possible themes of the reviving theological dialogue. It was agreed to hold the next session in 2020 and combine the theological discussion with events to mark the 50th anniversary of this dialogue. The results of this dialogue will be presented for adoption to the supreme authorities of the two Churches. On June 11, the guests from Finland visited the St. Alexander Nevsky Laura of the Holy Trinity and the St. Nicholas Cemetery to bow at the grave of one of the founders of the dialogue, Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov) of Leningrad and Novgorod. Archive Statement issued by hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the results of the meeting between the members of its Synod and Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople 26 June 2018 year 18:59 On 25 June 2018, the Name Day of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, after the Divine Liturgy in the Kiev Lavra of the Caves 70 archpastors who attended the celebrations held a consultation. The permanent members of the Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who had took part in the meeting with His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople in his residence in Istanbul on June 23, informed all those present of its results. The hierarchs who took part in the consultation adopted a joint statement which reads in particular, “The Patriarchate of Constantinople refuted the information that the canonical mechanism of overcoming the schism in the Ukrainian Orthodoxy had already been agreed upon and the text of the Tomos of Autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church had been drafted. It also proved to be wrong that the unilateral granting of autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church could take place in the nearest future or within some fixed period.” Noted in the document is the readiness of the Patriarchate of Constantinople “to join the process of overcoming the Ukrainian church schism in consultation with the fraternal Local Orthodox Churches.” The participants in the meeting expressed their concern over “a possibility of the establishment in Ukraine of parallel ecclesiastical jurisdictions as was reported by the press,” and emphasized that such step could deepen the church schism in Ukraine. On the other hand, in the event the Ukrainian Orthodox Church would be transformed into a structure of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, it would lose “many of the rights granted to it over the recent decades.” The hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church stated: “The existing canonical status is sufficient for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to fruitfully carry out its mission among the people of Ukraine. The attempts to change this status will only result in the restriction of rights and freedoms that our Church enjoys, having the rights of wide autonomy. Moreover, these attempts will not heal but deepen the schism both in the Ukrainian Orthodoxy and in the Ukrainian society as a whole.” The archpastors unanimously confirmed their intention to abide by “the episcopal oath taken at the consecration to be faithful to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.” To confirm their position, all the archpastors present at the consultation signed the statement. Situation around the Kiev Caves Lavra being aggravated from all sides, according to the Lavra press service Kiev, June 23, 2014      The Kiev Caves Lavra has commented on the events currently taking place near the monastery walls. As other news sources have reported, there is an “anti-Maidan” group who organized a peaceful Cross procession around the Lavra. This group drew ire from the nationalist Ukrainian forces, who prevented them from making the procession with threats. “The situation around the Lavra is once again being aggravated from all sides. We consider it necessary to remind everyone that according to the announcement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod, assembled several days ago, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as ever, is calling upon all sides to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflicts and to raise up more intensive prayer: ‘We are calling upon all the faithful members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to pray fervently for our state and for the God-loving Ukrainian people’,” reads the message, published on the Kiev Caves Lavra’s website on June 22. “Services are celebrated at the Lavra churches as is the tradition. Today, on the occasion of the feast-day of All Saints who shone forth in our land, a special prayer for peace in the Ukrainian state has been offered up as well. The monastery is continuing its life in prayer, traditional prayer services are performed. “However, various groups of people, who do not have the blessing of the Church hierarchy, on one side, have without permission organized events to provoke a breach of the church community, and this has led to increasing political divisions. On the other side, several hundred people with aggressive behavior picketed the Kiev Caves Lavra. “Receiving all those who wish to pray in the monastery, calling to peace and unity with the Mother Church, the Dormition Kiev Caves Lavra, however, does not bear responsibility for possible unexpected actions of the above-mentioned groups of people,” the message reads. On June 22, the Lavra’s website resumed their online broadcast from the square near the gates of the monastery. 24 июня 2014 г. Смотри также Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

The June 2012 Issue of the Journal of Moscow Patriarchate is Out The June 2012 issue of the Zhurnal Moskovsoj Patriarkhii [Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate] is prefaced by a letter from His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk: “Eminent Archpastors, Dear Fathers, Brothers and Sisters: Signing of the Act of Canonical Communion by Metropolitan Laurus and Patriarch Alexiy II in May 2008. A great event occurred in May, 2012: the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The times have faded into the past when Russian Orthodoxy outside of the borders of Russia was divided into jurisdictions, the representatives of which had no ecclesial communion amongst themselves. Behind us now are the times when the Russian Orthodox Church of the emigres was called the “Karlovtsi schism,” while these emigres accused the Moscow Patriarchate of collaboration with the communists. The reasons for division are left in the past, but we have needed years of communication, of mutual recognition, and especially of wisdom, courage and discernment in order to achieve this. The path to unity was difficult, but all the more cherished as a result. Eternal memory to those who contributed to the matter of reunification: His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus of blessed memory. In May, the Russian Orthodox Church ceremoniously marked the feast day of SS Cyril and Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles, the Illuminators of the Slavs. On that day, the fullness of the Russian Church prayed for her Primate, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, who was celebrating his namesday. Participating in the ceremonies with Patriarch Kirill was a delegation of the Greek Church, headed by His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, who was making his first official visit to the territory of the Russian Church. The namesday of His Holiness the Patriarch became a celebration of ecclesiastical unity, when all together, in the ancient Uspensky Cathedral, and later on Vasilievsky Spusk, representatives of Local Orthodox Churches prayed, along with hierarchs of the Russian diaspora, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, a host of bishops and pastors, and thousands of worshipers.” jmp.ru/archiv/Jmp_6_2012_small.pdf Official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad 12 июня 2012 г. ...
