Russian Gov " t Proposed to Bury Alleged Remains of Sts. Alexis and Maria Romanov/Православие.Ru Russian Gov " t Proposed to Bury Alleged Remains of Sts. Alexis and Maria Romanov September 11, 2015 Sts. Alexei and Maria Romanov      The Russian government recently offered to bury the alleged remains of Sts. Alexei and Maria Romanov, the Crown Prince and Grand Duchess of the last royal family of Russia. The remains are currently housed at the Russian State Archives, but could be buried on October 18 in Catherine’s aisle of the Peter and Paul Cathedral at the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg, reports Interfax . Members of the Romanov family have been invited to the ceremony. In July 1991 a grave with nine bodies was found near Ekaterinburg, with the remains being identified as the Tsar-Martyr Nicholas II and the Tsaritsa Alexandra, along with their children, the Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, and Anastasia, and their servants Evgeny Botkin, Anna Demidova, Alexey Trupp, and Ivan Kharitonov. Two more remains were discovered in a grave seventy kilometers south on July 26, 2007 which many analysts believe to be the remains of Sts. Alexei and Maria. The Russian Orthodox Church has not recognized the remains in the Peter and Paul Cathedral as those of Tsar Nicholas and his family, nor has it accepted the identification of the newer remains with Sts. Alexei and Maria. The Russian Investigative Committee, the Forensic Medical Center of the Russian Health Ministry, and the Vavilov Genetics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences are prepared to offer additional research at the request of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Church has remained cautious about the identification of the remains, as the true remains of Tsar Nicholas and his family would constitute holy relics to be venerated, as the entire family has been canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church. 14 сентября 2015 г. Indeed, families are a gift and blessing from God, as the Church teaches, and thus they cannot be reduced to biological, legal, psychological, sociological, or economic factors. The family is the realization of the sacred, in which human beings are perfected in love, with the parent-children relationship being modeled on and finding its fulfillment in the relationship of the faithful with God. Thus the patriarch has urged parents to spend more time with their children, and to attend to their bodily and spiritual needs. “Each of us needs to have a permanent concern for our families and for the future of the Christian family and of the Romanian nation, by rediscovering and living out Christian values in our homes, in the parishes to which we belong, and in the great family of the Church,” reads a statement from the hierarchy of the Romanian Church. In this vein, the Romanian Orthodox Church also, of course, condemns the horror of abortion which is not only murder, but the murder of an innocent and defenseless child. The Church calls on all to instead give birth to their child and raise him or her in a loving Christian home. 14 февраля 2017 г. DECR chairman Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk greets participants and guests of the 4th Forum of All-Russian Programme ‘The Sanctity of Motherhood’ Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) Source: DECR Communication Service November 27, 2015      On 26-27 November 2015, the 4th Forum held within the framework of the All-Russian Programme “The Sanctity of Motherhood” on the theme “The Centuries-Old Family Traditions as the Foundation of Russia’s Future” takes place in the capital of Tatarstan. The meeting was sponsored by St Andrew the First-Called Foundation and the Centre of National Glory. Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for external Church Relations, sent the following greeting to the participants: Dear organizers, participants and guests of the Forum: I am happy to greet all of you who have gathered in the capital of Tatarstan to discuss a theme so urgent for today, “The Centuries-Old Family Traditions as the Foundation of Russia’s Future.” Regrettably, the values of the family and marriage are under the great threat in the modern world. We see the unprecedented transformation of not only the role and place of the family in society, but of the very meaning of family ties. Men and women more often began to take the family as a burden which hampers their carefree life without obligations and responsibility. Yet it is a healthy, strong family with many children is a foundation and pledge of the future of our beloved Motherland. We must learn to appreciate the family, motherhood, fatherhood, and the sacred gift of life from conception to death. Our direct responsibility is to defend the life of children, including those yet unborn ones. All human beings are entitled to be born, and nobody can have a right to kill children, the more so one’s own children. It is necessary to develop in society a strong rejection of abortions, the horrible and sinful crime. At the same time one should not rely on prohibitive nemeasures only. It is necessary to develop a family support programme that will make the child-birth not only desirable for the young married couples, but prestigious and profitable. I am deeply convinced that we need a wide public coalition uniting traditional religious confession, society and the state for the defence of the family values, and purity and sanctity of marriage. I wish all the participants interesting and fruitful discussions. Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) DECR Communication Service 30 ноября 2015 г. Foreign same-sex couples to be forbidden to adopt Russian children Moscow, May 30, 2013 The deputies of the State Duma from the " One Russia " party have prepared amendments in the family codex of the Russian Federation that forbid adoption of Russian children by foreign same-sex couples. This has been confirmed today by the general council secretary of " One Russia " , deputy speaker of the lower chamber of the Parliament Sergei Neverov, at the meeting with the deputies of the legislative assembly of the Novosibirsk region, reports Itar-Tass. According to him, in regard to the passing of the law legalizing same-sex marriages in France, the deputies of the fraction have prepared amendments to the family codex that forbid adoption of Russian children by same-sex couples from those countries whose legislation allows or recognizes such marriages. On May 18, the president of France Francois Hollande signed the law legalizing same-sex marriages in the country and allowing such couples to adopt children. So France has become the fourteenth country in the world to legalize such marriages. It is supposed that the first marriage according to the new legislation may be performed already early in June. Once the law has gone on to the statute books in France, Russia, which had made the adoption agreement with France, can raise the question of annulling this agreement, explained the head of the Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Elena Mizulina ( " A Just Russia " Party). At the same time she pointed out that " this document has not been ratified yet " . And Alexei Pushkov, head of the State Duma " s international affairs committee (the " One Russia " ), has advocated the complete rejection of concluding bilateral adoption accords with countries which have passed legislation on homosexual marriages, because, according to him, in such cases nobody can guarantee that even after adoption of a Russian child by a traditional family he will not be readopted by a homosexual family. He also believes that prohibition of foreign adoption of Russian children in states that allow same-sex marriages must be introduced nationally in the legislation of the Russian Federation. In her turn, Olga Batalina, the deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children (the " Only Russia " ), has informed that on June 13, two profile committees " on family issues and on international affairs " would hold a joint meeting where they would discuss which amendments should be made to which laws so that children adopted abroad could not be adopted by homosexual families. " Today, the process of adoption is organized and carried out without difficulties. We must absolutely cut out of this process with those who are in same-sex unions or who may potentially enter into them, " she said in the interview with Izvestia. Pravoslavie.ru 31 мая 2013 г. ... Rally in defense of the family values takes place in Tallinn Tallinn, October 6, 2014      A large rally in defense of family values and against passage of the civil partnership law (which will recognize same-sex unions) took place in Tallinn on Sunday near the house of parliament, reports RIA-Novosti . The partnership act that enables a legal registration of same-sex unions, among other unions, was adopted at the first reading of the parliament. The second and third readings are scheduled for October 7 and 9. The Estonian government has already approved the bill.      Before the rally, the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate held a supplicatory prayer service in defense of the family values in front of the main entrance of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Tallinn, situated several meters away from the house of parliament. The prayer service was headed by Metropolitan Cornelius of Tallinn and All Estonia. The protest action, which lasted more than two hours, was organized by the foundation, “In Defense of Family and Traditions”. According to head of the foundation Varro Vooglaid, the rally is meant to show the parliament deputies that the people are opposing the partnership law enactment and attempts to change the essence of such concepts as marriage and family. The people of all ages who came to the rally were holding the following banners in their hands: “Passing of the partnership law is death to democracy”, “Parliament! listen to the people”, “Marriage is the union between a man and a woman”, “Each child must have a mother and a father”, “Lord, help Estonia” and others. The rally participants denounced the actions of the Estonian authorities who did not wish to consider the opinion held by majority of Estonian citizens. Last Friday, the leading Estonian research company TNS Emor published the poll results concerning the attitude of the country’s citizens towards the official recognition of same-sex “families” by the state. 1000 people aged between 15 and 75 took part in the survey, conducted at the request of the “In Defense of Family and Traditions” foundation September 16-29. According to the sociologists’ data, 67% of the Estonian residents do not support the recognition of homosexual “marriages” by the state. 6 октября 2014 г.      The exhibition Boris Godunov. From a Courtier to the Sovereign of All Russia opened on October 16th, in the Assumption Belfry and the One-Pillar Chamber of the Patriarch’s Palace of the Moscow Kremlin. It is the first exhibition dedicated to one of the greatest figures in the Russian history – Boris Godunov (1551-1605), who ruled the Tsardom of Russia as de facto regent from c. 1585 to 1598 and then as the first non-Rurikid tsar from 1598 to 1605. The end of his reign saw Russia descend into the Time of Troubles. He was a man of marked individuality whose amazing and tragic life has been attracting historians and specialists in literature for a long time. This sovereign’s image is depicted in various works of art, music, and drama. The exhibition represents around 150 items, dating back to the turn of the 17th century, provided by the leading Russian museums – the State Tretyakov Gallery, The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, The State Hermitage, The State Historical Museum and other museums, as well as the largest libraries and the Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents. The exhibition highlights the milestones of Boris Godunov’s life, stages of his state activity and the most important aspects of his foreign policy, and it familiarizes the visitors with the rich cultural heritage of the Godunov’s epoch. The display includes masterpieces of icon painting, book miniature, pictorial and decorative embroidery, jewelry and arms from the golden fund of the Russian art. Many of these remarkable exhibits, distinguished by the skillful execution and splendor of décor, are made by the order of Boris Godunov and his relatives. This certainly attests to fastidious taste in art of the representatives of this family, which added its own page to the history of the Medieval Russian culture. The exhibition also presents items of significant importance, such as written manuscripts, rare books and memoirs of witnesses of the events of that time. The core of the exhibition is formed by artifacts from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums. They are key objects from the permanent display, such as the Monomakh’s Cap and the throne of Boris Godunov, as well as items from the storage, such as the Godunov " s Book of Psalms with unique miniatures. Extant monuments of the Godunov’s epoch form the single layer of the artistic heritage of the Muscovy, and characterize this historical period as the time of the flowering of the traditional artistic tendencies, brought to perfection by a vertuoso performance. The exhibition Boris Godunov. From a Courtier to the Sovereign of All Russia runs from October 16, 2015 – January 31, 2016, in the Exhibition hall of the Assumption Belfry, the One-Pillar Chamber of the Patriarch’s Palace in the Moscow Kremlin. Romanian Patriarchate calls on Lower House to reject legislative proposal on civil partnership May 18, 2015      The Romanian Patriarchate is calling on the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body in this case, to “once again reject” the legislative proposal on the regulation of the civil partnership, since this represents “an attack on the enduring value of the family and the identity thereof.” The Romanian Patriarchate took this stance amid third-time attempts in recent years “to regulate the civil partnership, a bill which was every time massively rejected in Parliament.” According to the cited source, “ever since the oldest times, the Romanian people have cultivated the legacy of utmost respect towards the family, called the Church at Home, being satisfied that this is instituted and blessed by God.” The Romanian Patriarchate points out that both the Romanian Constitution (Art. 48), and the Civil Code (Art. 258), reflect the reality that the family is based on free consent marriage between a man and a woman, on their equality and the parents’ rights and duties to ensure the rearing, education and development of the children, and believes that these laws must be respected and implemented, “and that their importance should not be diminished through newly emerged institutions that lack tradition, but claim the rights that derive from marriage.” “None of Romania’s international commitments compels the Romanian state to legislate relationships outside the family established by marriage between a man and a woman,” the cited source said. The Romanian Patriarchate argues also that other states’ experience shows that “these civil partnerships are just an antechamber to accepting same-sex marriages,” Agerpres informs. “The family is not just a set of state-acknowledged rights of the spouses, but also a social value that supports life and the continuity of a nation. Therefore, undermining the traditional family can only harm the common good of society,” the release states. At the same time, according to the Patriarchate, “the adoption of the initiative on civil partnerships would generate negative effects on the healthy growth and development of children.” On March 31, the Senators rejected the legislative proposal filed by independent deputy Remus Cernea on the regulation of the civil partnership. The legislative proposal stipulates that the civil partnership is “a contract concluded free of all discrimination between two people who decide to live together based on mutual affection, respect and support and on equality of rights.” 18 мая 2015 г.
