Putin on October 2, 2014. There is a widespread belief that Moscow and Amman interact only because of Jordanian interest in Russian armaments. However, this is not so. Статья Religious tourism is an important area of cooperation between Russia and Jordan. In June 2012, during the visit of President Putin was established the Russian House of pilgrims near the place of baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River (El Maghtas). President Putin during his next meeting with King Abdullah II on February 19, 2013 once again thanked him for the transfer of a land plot for the Russian pilgrims. At the initiative of King Abdullah II in July 2006 Russia was presented a plot of land of one hectare in perpetuity and free of charge. Land, allocated for Russia on the territory of religious and archaeological reserve “The Place Baptism of Jesus Christ” is considered “waqf” according to the Jordan legislation, intended to be used exclusively for religious purposes and exempt from any taxes. In 2007, the Russian side has taken a decision to construct on this site a wanderers house of the Russian Orthodox Church to accommodate pilgrims. The foundation of the house allowed Jordan to host more than 2 thousand of pilgrims from Russia monthly. Before this, Russians have mainly visited Christian holy places in the territory of Israel and Palestine. Now they will have more opportunities to visit El Maghtas, as well as the Church of St. George with Byzantine mosaic in the city of Madaba, mountain Nevo with the tomb of the prophet Moses and others.

Archive A regular session of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops convenes 24 February 2022 year 12:21 On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, a remote meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia was held. With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, Vice President of the Synod, presided. Approving the proposed agenda, the Synod members heard a report by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, Secretary of the Synodal Inter-Orthodox Relations Department, on recent events in the Orthodox world. Having learned of the withdrawal of the decision by His Eminence Metropolitan Jean of Dubno in which he received a series of clerics of the Russian Church Abroad into the Archbishopric he heads, the Synod of Bishops decreed to express its gratitude towards His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Metropolitan Antony of Korsun, Patriarchal Exarch in Western Europe, for their help in finding a positive resolution of the matter. As far as the resistance of a group of clergymen in the Colchester, England, parish of the Diocese of Great Britain, is concerned, the matter will be resolved in accordance with regular pastoral consideration within the diocese. The affected clergymen, many of whom already returned to their lawful Hierarchy, are once again called upon to earnest repentance, after which the restoration of their clerical status will become possible. After a report read by His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada on the forthcoming celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY, it was decided to bless the associated divine services at the eponymous monastery in September, 2023, and to coordinate it with a meeting of the Synod of Bishops. Upon reviewing a proposed schedule for the travels of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign,” the Hodigitria of the Russian diaspora, the Synod of Bishops blessed the visits of the holy icon to: Great Britain and Western Europe (Great Lent, 2022), the German Diocese (after Holy Pascha) and Canada (August 2022). The Synod of Bishops also deliberated on administrative and property issues, as well as intercessions by the archpastor members of the Synod for ecclesiastical awards for their clergy and laity.  The next meeting of the Synod of Bishops is scheduled for 12 April, 2022. Pristina: Orthodox chapel turned into public restroom; Bishop: Lack of basic civilization norms      A recently renovated and cleaned cemetery chapel in Pristina was turned into a public restroom and garbage dump, and several Orthodox graves are overgrown with weeds, said the Dioceses of Raska and Prizren. Such a situation exists despite the fact that a municipal community service is allegedly in charge of taking care of the cemetery and that a paid cemetery guard is provided, says the Diocese. “During the course of the visit to the Orthodox cemetery in Pristina, priest Sasa Mitrovic encountered a sad and sickening picture. The recently renovated and cleaned cemetery chapel was turned into a public restroom and garbage dump, and several graves are overgrown with weeds,” says the diocese’s statement. These photographs show a similar situation as in the Temple of Christ the Savior in the city center, where the Diocese of Raska and Prizren has recently decided to clean its temple, to which the municipality of Pristina and sent responded with an inspection (without a warrant) which banned further cleaning of the temple. “Given that Mitrovdan Memorial ay is near and that numerous believers from Pristina, of which most are not able to live freely in their home town and return to it, will visit their graves. The diocese will have to organize the cleaning of both the cemetery chapel and the cemetery,” says the statement. The diocese raises the question whether the mayor of Pristina will once again be eager to send an inspection and prevent the cleaning of the temple as he was so far in not undertaking any measures to have Christian Orthodox buildings used as public restrooms. Bishop Teodosije said that it is painful and difficult that in the “capital city of Kosovo” in the 21st century Christian buildings are used as public restrooms. “It is a frightening reflection of neglect and lack of basic civilization norms. " Mayor of Pristina Shpend Ahmeti recently said in an interview with KiM radio that the municipality is not responsible for checking whether places of worship are desecrated and damaged, so nothing was done during the desecration and arson in the Temple of Christ the Savior. However, as Ahmeti said, the municipality has responsibility to prevent any kind of work in these facilities (including cleaning and painting). Such abuses of religious freedoms are a disgrace for Kosovo society,” said Teodosije, stressing that no one can prevent the Church from preserving the dignity of its facilities from those who persistently desecrate them. Israeli kibbutz desecrates a Christian cemetery Ahihud, February 9, 2015      The administration of an Israeli kibbutz in Ahihud has once again descended to desecrating a sacred site: according to its recent decision a local Christian cemetery will be used to build cattle pens, reports the Salam1 portal . This week the administration of the Ahihud kibbutz, established on the site of the al-Barva village east of the town of Acre (Akko), decided to start building new cattle pens on land belonging to a Christian cemetery adjacent to the farming enterprise. The earth needed for building work was transported to the cemetery the very next day. The above decision of the Ahihud directors has led to widespread reactions in both the Israeli and Palestinian communities. For example, the al-Aqsa foundation, which is specialized in protecting the country’s cultural heritage, has expressed its concern at the actions of the kibbutz leadership. In an interview with journalists on Thursday February 5, a member of staff at the department for the protection of national shrines (al-Aqsa) Abdulmajid Igbariya noted that “this event can only be regarded as a violation of the holy peace of the deceased.” “I was there on Wednesday and saw a heap of earth right on the cemetery… It should be noted that this is not the first such incident in the history of Ahihud: more than one cattle pen has been built literally on the bones of deceased Christians and Muslims. This is outrageous! It is unacceptable from the point of view of both ethics and law,” said Igbariya. In his turn, the human rights activist Karayim Sakas who accompanied the al-Aqsa delegation has stressed that “we must use every possible leverage over Ahihud to prevent desecration.” “Christians in neighboring villages will not permit another act of vandalism, the desecration of the memory of deceased ancestors. To do this, all of us, together with al-Aqsa, are collectively appealing to the law enforcement agencies and the civil court to complain about the actions of the kibbutz administration. We hope that not only will the appropriate agencies stop the desecrators but will also obligate them to restore the cemetery’s original appearance and dignity,” said Sakas in conclusion. 11 февраля 2015 г. Form late antiquity to the Refomation, debates about the Bible took place at the center of manifold movements that defined Western civilization. In the eigtheenth century, Europe " s scriptural inheritance surfaced once again at a critical moment. During the Enlightenment, scholars guided by a new vision of a post-theological age did not simply investigate the Bible, they remade it. In place of the familiar scriptural Bibles that belonged to Christian and Jewish communities, they created a new form: the academic Bible. In this book, Michael Legaspi examines the creation of the academic Bible. Beginning with the fragmentation of biblical interpretation in the centuries after the Reformation, Legaspi shows how the weakening of scriptural authority in the Western churches altered the role of biblical interpretation. Оксфорд: Oxford University Press , 2011 г.  240 с.  ISBN 0199845883 In contexts shaped by skepticism and religious strife, interpreters increasingly operated on the Bible as a text to be managed by critical tools. These developments prepared the way for scholars to formalize an approach to biblical study oriented toward the statist vision of the new universities and their sponsors. Focusing on a renowned German scholar of the period, Johann David Michaelis (1717-1791), Legaspi explores the ways that critics reconceived authority of the Bible by creating an institutional framework for biblical interpretation designed to parallel-and replace-scriptural reading. This book offers a new account of the origins of biblical studies, illuminating the relation of the Bible to churchly readers, theological interpreters, academic critics, and people in between. It explains why, in an age of religious resurgence, modern biblical criticism may no longer be in a position to serve as the Bible " s disciplinary gatekeeper.

Process of restructuring in German Catholic Church in full swing Berlin, August 14, 2013 Regensburg Cathedral in Germany The process of restructuring is actively going on in the Catholic Church of Germany. The process of the unification of parishes is active in all dioceses; its aim is to solve the problem of shortage of priests, financing of communal property and so on, reports Sedmitza.ru . The Katholisch.de portal has published information on the numbers of parishes from different Dioceses which are being closed, with comments telling about difficulties that are appearing in the process of restructuring. Discussion of the reform is once again becoming more topical in the Archdiocese of Berlin. Critics of Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki " s plan suggesting the formation of about 30 parishes from 105 by 2020, believe that it is possible to solve the problem of shortage of priests if the compulsory celibacy is abolished and if Catholics who are not ordained priests are granted the possibility to distribute Communion at the Mass. Similar discussions are taking place in other Dioceses as well. Another Diocese with a great number of closing parishes is the Diocese of Hessen. Here, over several years 259 parishes were united in 43 " pastoral communities " . Nearly every fourth Church of this Diocese is no longer receiving financial support. Most of them will be sold and, therefore, desecrated. The largest communities of the Diocese number 116,000 believers. The Gelsenkirchen Buer district presently has the largest community in Germany. It numbers 40,000 Catholics - more than the whole Diocese of Görlitz. The Archdiocese of Koln reduced the budget by 90 million euro between 2004 and 2009. This became possible partly because 338 of 4500 archdiocese " s established posts were abolished. Moreover, since 2008 the number of pastoral communities here has been reduced from 220 to 180. From 2002 to 2006 in the Diocese of Fulda about 300 parishes were united into 43 pastoral communities. In the Diocese of Drezden-Meissen the number of communities has fallen from 123 to 100 since 2003. In the Diocese of Görlitz the number of parishes has dropped from 47 to 20 over 10 years while the number of Churches where the Mass is served every Sunday has remained nearly the same. 689 parishes of the Diocese of Münster from 1999 to 2015 must be restructured to 190 parishes. The number of priests is to be reduced as well. 15 августа 2013 г. ... Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Ukrainian officials exerting pressure on priests of the canonical Church Kiev, October 29, 2014 The official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) has published the statement of the External Church Relations Department of UOC MP, made in connection with an attempt of the state authority in the Kirovohrad region to force the rector of the parish of Exaltation of Holy Cross to transfer to the uncanonical “Kyiv Patriarchate”.      The full text of the statement is as follows: In connection with the attempted interference of the state authority bodies of the Golovanevsk (Holovanivsk) district of the Kirovohrad region in the activities of the local parishes of UOC MP with the purpose of the forced change of their confessional status, the UOC External Church Relations Department reports the following: On October 20, 2014, Rector of the parish of Exaltation of Holy Cross in Peregonovka village of Golovanevsk district of the Kirovohrad region Archpriest Svyatoslav Levandovsky was summoned to the Peregonovka village council, where deputy head of the district administration Vladimir Vladimirovich Kozak compelled him to transfer his parish from UOC MP to the so-called “Kyiv Patriarchate”, unrecognized throughout the universal Orthodox world. The government official exerted psychological pressure on Archpriest Svyatoslav Levandovsky and threatened him that in case of refusal to transfer to the “Kyiv Patriarchate” the clergyman would be forcibly driven away from the church and “left without his job and salary”. The UOC MP External Church Relations Department is authorized to state that such actions are a crude violation of the international and national legislation about freedom of conscience (of worship). Furthermore, the above-mentioned actions of a government official is a sheer abuse of his power. The mentioned fact also reveal’s the neglect of the commission of the Ukrainian prime minister Arseny Yatsenyuk to the executive state authority bodies of October 13, on “prevention of aggravation of interreligious relations, including seizure of buildings for public worship.” Once again we would like to stress that such gross interference by the civil authorities in UOC MP affairs is absolutely inadmissible. We state that information on this incident as well as other similar incidents will be reported to the competent Ukrainian bodies and international agencies that monitor cases of human rights violations, and the right to freedom of conscience and freedom of religion is an integral part of human rights. 1 ноября 2014 г. Archive The Serbian Church re-affirms its position on church situation in Ukraine 31 May 2019 year 22:39 His Holiness Irenaeus, Patriarch of Serbia, has familiarized His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, with the position taken by the Serbian Orthodox Church on the Ukrainian church problems. Below is the full text of the official position formulated by the Bishops’ Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church at its session on May 14, 2019.  With regard to the disputed and vitally important topic of an abnormal church situation in Ukraine that has developed after the well-known decisions and unilateral interference of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the Sacred Bishops’ Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church officially and unanimously informs and presents to the general public that the position of our Church on this problem remains unchanged as to its previous official conciliar and synodal decisions, statements and appeals. Accordingly, the Serbian Orthodox Church does not recognize the newly formed pseudo-ecclesiastical structure in Ukraine, headed by citizens Denisenko and Dumenko, but stands in the liturgical and canonical communion only and exceptionally with the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy. It implies that our Church is in communion with all the rest canonical Orthodox Churches. We repeat once again that our Sacred Bishops’ Council makes another appeal to all to solve and resolve the church problems in Ukraine canonically, in fraternal dialogue with the Russian Orthodox Church on the whole and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in particular after a conference on the pan-Orthodox level. We send the text of our decision concurrently to the Patriarch of Constantinople and to Your Holiness and after them will immediately send it to all the rest Primates of local Orthodox Churches and, in an appropriate form, to the public both ecclesial and secular. Your brother and concelebrant always faithful to Your Holiness in the love of Christ the Saviour. + IRENAUS, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci Chairman of the Holy Bishops’ Council Serbian Orthodox Church DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 7 April 2024 year

We are faithful to the choice of Prince Vladimir, the Russian Federation " s President says/Православие.Ru We are faithful to the choice of Prince Vladimir, the Russian Federation " s President says Moscow, July 28, 2015 A gala reception on behalf of the Russian President dedicated to the 1000 anniversary of repose of the Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, was held in the Moscow Kremlin. Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, state and public figures were present at the reception, reports the Presidential website.      Speaking during the reception, Vladimir Putin said: “The significance of this event – receiving the faith and spiritual support by the Russian nation – cannot be overestimated. Unquestionably, the Baptism became the turning point of all the Russian history, statehood and our culture. Our duty is to honor this crucial period of the development of Russia. And today representatives of the government bodies, civil associations, hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Local Orthodox Churches, representatives of all traditional religions of Russia (which was built as a great multinational and multiconfessional state) have gathered here. The Baptism of Russia forever went down in Church tradition and the memory of the people linked with the name and deeds of the Holy Prince Vladimir. The 1000 anniversary of his repose once again enabled us to realize the scale of his personality as the outstanding builder of Russia, the significance of his decisions for following generations, the continuity of our centuries-old history, the indestructible tie with the ancestors’ precepts. Prince Vladimir was destined to become a great ruler. His choice was a far-seeing and responsible one and it became a source of Russia’s formation as an unique country and civilization.      Prince Vladimir’s embracing Christianity was based upon a deep love for his motherland, his serious spiritual reflections, and the search for a single source capable of consolidating the people and uniting the separate lands.

And it is so wonderful to see so many pilgrims from far and wide: from Brooklyn, New York, Boston, Canada, and even from Europe. It is so wonderful that we have all gathered here in one place to pray. Let us continue to gather in these days, and glorify Venerable Job, seeking the aid and intercession of the Mother of God, and supporting our Holy Trinity Monastery. " On behalf of the gathered pilgrims, diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov greeted His Grace on the occasion of the feast, and thanked Fr. Luke and the brethren for their continued prayers and monastic struggles. Addressing the gathered pilgrims, Fr. Serge urged them to generously support the monastery not only with their prayers, but with alms and monetary donations. A special collection was then undertaken to help the brethren continue working on the much-needed renovations of monastery churches and buildings. Those who wish to participate can donate to the monastery directly through their official website www.jordanville.org . A festal luncheon was served in the monastic refectory, during which the pilgrims attentively listened to readings from the Lives of the Saints. After lunch, pilgrims had an opportunity to interact with one another on the monastery grounds, where various kiosks were set up, offering handmade products from the monastery and the neighboring St. Elizabeth’s Skete. The pilgrimage concluded with a Divine Liturgy on Monday morning, September 7, during which many of the pilgrims once again partook of Holy Communion before returning to their homes, glorifying God through His chosen wonder-worker, Ven.
