Unbelief and skepticism are barren, infertile. “As someone withdrawing from the light does not in the least do harm to the light, but does very great harm to himself, becoming immersed in darkness, so also one accustomed to scorning the power of the Almighty does not in the least do harm to it [His power], but upon himself brings extreme harm” (John Chrysostom). The fundamental idea of these “exposés” is that purportedly there are Orthodox who themselves deny the genuineness of this miracle but at the same time continue to “dupe simple, ingenuous people.” What arguments are offered to support this idea of duping and conscious deceit? Dear supporters from everywhere in the world, When I am on your shoulders, I am strong! You raise me up, so I can walk on stormy seas! You raise me up, so I can stand on the peak of the mountains! You raise me up, to more than I can be! I attribute my success to your great support and would like to thank you with this message – «Дорогие болельщики со всего мира! I would like to once again sincerely thank the XV Tchaikovsky International Competition for awarding me the Silver Medal from the bottom of my heart. To me it is really a greatest honor, greatest recognition and reward for the 16-year hard work from myself, my teachers и т.д. и т.п. Se non è vero, è ben trovato. Если и не верно, то хорошо выдумано. Archive His Holiness Patriarch Kirill issues statement following guilty verdict against Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchyn and Bratslav 7 August 2023 year 20:00 His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia issued a statement after the Ukrainian court had delivered a guilty verdict against Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchyn and Bratslav. On August 7, the Vinnytsia City Court brought in a verdict against the ruling hierarch of the Diocese of Tulchyn and Bratslav of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Metropolitan Jonathan (Yeletskikh). Prior to that unlawful court ruling, numerous attempts had been made to put pressure on Metropolitan Jonathan but he remained faithful to his Church and his brothers and sisters in Christ. I got to know Metropolitan Jonathan when he studied and then worked at the Leningrad Theological Academy. As far back as the 1980s, national security bodies of the atheistic regime tried to intimidate him, but to no effect. And now their successors – those who fight against the Church of Christ today – continue their shameful work by delivering that unjust verdict. The hierarch of advanced age with a serious illness, who is a church composer well known in the Orthodox world, was sentenced to 5 years in prison and confiscation of property based on absurd charges, in particular, of “committing actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional regime” and “encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.” All these charges are absolutely baseless, and the so-called evidence was fabricated. His Eminence Jonathan, together with the whole Church, prays for peace, calls for spiritual unity of the Holy Rus’ and defends the rights of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, unmasking the canonical untruth of the schism. That is why he was convicted. We regard this court ruling driven by hatred towards the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as yet another act of flagrant violation of religious freedom and a manifestation of persecution because of one’s faith. Once again I call on the world community, religious and political leaders and human rights organizations to direct their attention to the Ukrainian authorities’ deliberate policy aimed at destroying the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as to continued persecution against its hierarchs and clerics, monastics and laypeople that goes unpunished. He describes the saints connected with the abbey, and poses the question: for Orthodox Christians, living in an increasingly multi-ethnic society, what is the real England? 12 ноября 2012 This book is the first exploration of the remarkable odyssey of Thomas Aquinas in the Orthodox Christian world, from the Byzantine to the modern era. Aquinas was received with astonishing enthusiasm across the Byzantine theological spectrum. By contrast, modern Orthodox readings of Aquinas have been resoundingly negative, routinely presenting Aquinas as the archetype of as a specifically Western form of theology against which the Orthodox East must set its face. Basing itself primarily on a close study of the Byzantine reception of Thomas, this study rejects such hackneyed dichotomies, arguing instead for a properly catholic or universal construal of Orthodoxy – one in which Thomas might once again find a place. In this essay, written as a submission to the Theological Committee of the Episcopal Assembly of Orthodox Bishops for Great Britain and Ireland, Fr Gregory Hallam examines the role of the diaconate in the Orthodox Church today in the light of its historical development, and calls for its renewal for the benefit of the Church and the world. Fr Gregory is Dean of the Antiochian Orthodox Deanery of the United Kingdom and Ireland. 9 августа 2012 SYRIA: Sustaining faith amid the fighting 6 июля 2012 События 4 июля 2012 The Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, has sent a congratulatory message to Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, spiritual father of the Community of St. Egidio, on the occasion of his appointment as President of the Pontifical Council for the Family and elevation to the rank of archbishop. Archive Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk: Patriarch Bartholomew does not want to admit his fault in the Ukrainian problem 18 April 2021 year 11:50 Ukrainian authorities have invited Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and Pope Francis to attend the celebrations of the 30 th  anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. Ms. Gracheva, the host of “The Church and the World” TV program, asked Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), to share his opinion on whether the invitations would be accepted. “While I don’t want to be a soothsayer, I think that Patriarch Bartholomew will accept this invitation, but Pope Francis won’t,” said the archpastor. “Patriarch Bartholomew is a man who lives in the cloudland of his illusions, ambitions, emotions, who seems to have lost touch with reality, presenting his fantasies as actually occurring things,” Metropolitan Hilarion noted. “For example, he turns a blind eye to the existence of the multimillion-strong Ukrainian Orthodox Church with twelve and a half thousand parishes, over 100 bishops, over 250 monasteries and millions of the faithful. His attitude is as if this Church were non-existent; he asserts that there is some kind of another ‘church’ which he has knocked up from two schismatic groups.” “That is why, – the DECR chairman believes, – Patriarch Bartholomew will come to Ukraine just to demonstrate to the world once again that the ‘autocephalous church’ which he has created is the Ukrainian Church, whereas reality testifies to the opposite,” Metropolitan Hilarion underscored. “Patriarch Bartholomew has made a great mistake, but unfortunately he will not and cannot admit it,” continued Metropolitan Hilarion. “He would make whatever moves to convince the world into believing that he has made no mistake, but all others have been mistaken.” Speaking about Pope Francis, Metropolitan Hilarion characterized him as a man of realistic vision, who realizes that if he comes to Ukraine he will be inevitably drawn into recognizing the schismatics in this or that form. “I don’t think he will want to do this,” the DECR chairman said. “Besides, we should not forget that the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church’s attitude to Pope Francis personally and to the Roman See on the whole is rather skeptical, and at times even openly negative,” continued Metropolitan Hilarion. “For instance, the head of that Church, Archbishop Svyatoslav (Shevchuk) on quite a few occasions spoke of the Havana Declaration of Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill as a document very nearly targeted against Ukrainian Greek-Catholics dealing them a blow. He is very negative about this document and about the direct dialogue of the Pope of Rome with the Russian Orthodox Church.” DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 7 April 2024 year

Archive Vladimir R. Legoida: Stripping Ukrainian bishops of their citizenship is the latest round of fight against the canonical Church 17 February 2023 year 19:38 Vladimir. R. Legoida, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media, has commented on the decision of the State Migration Service of Ukraine to strip five bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of their citizenship and called this fact the latest round of fight against the canonical Church. According to mass media reports, Metropolitan Mark of Hust and Vinogradov; Archbishop Panteleimon of Buchany, a vicar of the Diocese of Kiev; Archbishop Viktor of Artsiz, a vicar of the Diocese of Odessa; Bishop Gedeon of Makarov and Bishop Spiridon of Vishnevoye, vicars of the Diocese of Kiev, have been stripped of citizenship. “The Ukrainian authorities continue to carry out targeted elimination of the only canonical Church in Ukraine. They once again use citizenship stripping as a repression against the Church. As the world human rights community keeps appreciative silence, the objective of wiping out the undesirable religious community is being attained in the most disgusting manner,” Mr. Legoida said. “There is no and cannot be any evidence to suggest that these bishops have ever done any harm to Ukraine. Their only fault is that they had not moved to religious organization which Ukrainian authorities consider close and desirable,” he added. “The persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will leave a mark in history of Europe and the entire world as an example of the most shameful impunity along with the persecution of the Church by the Soviet godless. We call upon international human rights organizations to turn attention to lawless actions towards representatives of religious organizations in Ukraine,” Mr. Legoida said in conclusion, Synodal Department for Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media reports. Situation around the Kiev Caves Lavra being aggravated from all sides, according to the Lavra press service Kiev, June 23, 2014      The Kiev Caves Lavra has commented on the events currently taking place near the monastery walls. As other news sources have reported, there is an “anti-Maidan” group who organized a peaceful Cross procession around the Lavra. This group drew ire from the nationalist Ukrainian forces, who prevented them from making the procession with threats. “The situation around the Lavra is once again being aggravated from all sides. We consider it necessary to remind everyone that according to the announcement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod, assembled several days ago, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as ever, is calling upon all sides to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflicts and to raise up more intensive prayer: ‘We are calling upon all the faithful members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to pray fervently for our state and for the God-loving Ukrainian people’,” reads the message, published on the Kiev Caves Lavra’s website on June 22. “Services are celebrated at the Lavra churches as is the tradition. Today, on the occasion of the feast-day of All Saints who shone forth in our land, a special prayer for peace in the Ukrainian state has been offered up as well. The monastery is continuing its life in prayer, traditional prayer services are performed. “However, various groups of people, who do not have the blessing of the Church hierarchy, on one side, have without permission organized events to provoke a breach of the church community, and this has led to increasing political divisions. On the other side, several hundred people with aggressive behavior picketed the Kiev Caves Lavra. “Receiving all those who wish to pray in the monastery, calling to peace and unity with the Mother Church, the Dormition Kiev Caves Lavra, however, does not bear responsibility for possible unexpected actions of the above-mentioned groups of people,” the message reads. On June 22, the Lavra’s website resumed their online broadcast from the square near the gates of the monastery. 24 июня 2014 г. Смотри также Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку
