Tweet Нравится Relics of St. Tikhon to visit U.S. parishes for centenary of Russian revolution Moscow, February 22, 2017 Photo: Official website of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia      A piece of the relics of Patriarch St. Tikhon of Moscow will be brought to America this year, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the 1917 reestablishment of the patriarchate in Russia and of the atheist communist revolution in Russia, which also occurred in 1917 under the reign of the newly-enthroned St. Tikhon. At its February 21 meeting, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia resolved to establish a committee for planning the visit of the relics to various parishes throughout the US, reports the ROCOR press service . To bring St. Tikhon’s relics was first proposed by the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation . The fund has several projects, the most well-known and longest running being the “Pray for Peace of Jerusalem” program which brings the Holy Fire throughout the world on Pascha. The reliquary will visit parishes both of the Russian Church Abroad and of other jurisdictions in America. A detailed schedule is forthcoming. At the same meeting, the Holy Synod blessed the transfer of a piece of the relics of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr from Jerusalem to Russia, also in honor of the centenary of the Russian revolution, which led to St. Elizabeth’s martyrdom. Her relics lie in the Martha and Mary Convent in Jerusalem, under the jurisdiction of ROCOR’s Spiritual Mission. A reliquary containing relics of the New Martyrs and Confessors is to be created for the centenary, to be used in consecrating antimensia and altars in parishes which do not yet have relics of the New Martyrs of the twentieth century. 22 февраля 2017 г. Tweet Нравится Rejection of spiritual laws stands behind abortion says Met. Tikhon of Novosibirsk Moscow, December 21, 2016 Photo: http://pravoslavie.fm/      Speaking at the Novosibirsk round table discussion “In Defense of the Life of Unborn Children,” Met. Tikhon spoke of the spiritual roots of such terrible social phenomena as abortion, the legalized murder of children, reports the Department for Church Charity and Social Service of the Russian Orthodox Church. Speaking at the round table on Friday, December 16, organized by the World Russian People’s Council, Met. Tikhon recalled Patriarch Kirill’s proposal to remove abortion from the compulsory health insurance system, as well as the petition of the “For Life” movement signed by thousands which calls for personhood to be legally recognized from the moment of conception. “Behind the problem [of abortion] is concealed the ignorance or rejection of important spiritual laws of God’s world, that is, the moral laws of human existence. If a man understands that life is the greatest gift from God, then he will take responsibility for the life of a child begun in its mother’s womb. But if a mother has no sacred awe for life, then she may choose the willful termination of her child, and then whole medical institutions and centers work on the consequences of such ignorance—infertility or psychological disorders,” the bishop stated. Presentations on the topics of conception from the point of view of genetics and embryology, and the negative impact of abortion on a woman’s health were also made by local doctors, after which the participants of the discussion, including several government representatives, signed a resolution supporting the patriarch’s initiative and President Putin’s efforts to uphold family values in the nation. 21 декабря 2016 г. About 35,000 New Martyrs included in database of St. Tikhon " s Orthodox University/Православие.Ru About 35,000 New Martyrs included in database of St. Tikhon " s Orthodox University Moscow, July 8, 2014      The martyrs for the faith in the 20th century included in the database of Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox University of Humanities (Moscow) number currently about 35,000 people, reported rector of the university Archpriest Vladimir Vorobiev on Tuesday to RIA-Novosti . “Information not only on canonized New Martyrs is being gathered for the database, but also on all those who suffered for Christ and for the faith. There are around 35,000 such individuals at the moment. These are not just their names but also all information that could be found: biographical information, details from investigations, photographs, their works of authorship, letters,” said Fr. Vladimir. According to him, this database is a part of a larger work that is being carried out at the university. “We have a department of contemporary history of the Russian Orthodox Church. The history of the 20th century is the principal area of work,” the archpriest added. The first wave of repressions against clergy (1918-1920) alone swept away about 9,000 lives. Over 10,000 clergymen were found guilty during the confiscation of church treasures campaign, launched in 1921. 2,000 of them were executed by shooting. During industrialization the authorities led a campaign of recasting bells. From 1930 to 1934 the number of churches decreased by nearly one third. Naturally, the clergy could not be silent seeing this. In summer 1937, the order was issued to shoot within several months all confessors of faith, kept in communist camps and prisons. Throughout 1937 and 1938, 200,000 believers were repressed, half of them being executed. 11 июля 2014 г. Предыдущий Следующий Смотри также Living in the Spirit. Natalia Poklonskaya: “the Theotokos is guiding our Russia”/Православие.Ru Natalia Poklonskaya: “the Theotokos is guiding our Russia” Simferopol, July 10, 2015      In her interview with The Komsomolskaya Pravda Russian newspaper the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya answered the question, why she particularly venerated the Holy Russian Emperor and Passion-Bearer Nicholas II Alexandrovich. She also was asked whether she believed that monarchy would return in the future.      “Indeed it was a flagrant crime when Tsar Nicholas Alexandrovich was dethroned and then all his family was brutally murdered,” said the Crimea’s Prosecutor General. “And what is better and what will be next: a monarchy or a republic—is not my business”. With the delegation of the Orthodox Army Mission and the myrrh-streaming icon of Tsar Nicholas II – a photo from Natalia Poklonskaya’s Facebook page      “One nun had a vision: she was told to go down to the church vault in Kolomenskoye and find a “black board”. She was to wash it “so that it could become red,” and then she would see an image of the Mother of God on it . And indeed, the “Reigning” Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos was found in the church vault. That find bore deep significance. Following the murder of the royal family the Mother of God took up governing Russia. In red clothing and with Christ Child in Her arms, She is protecting and guiding our Russia. And may God help Russia to prosper,” said N. Poklonskaya, answering the question. 13 июля 2015 г.  The “Reigning” Icon of the Mother of God appeared on March 2/15, 1917, in Kolomenskoye village near Moscow (now a famous museum-reserve in Moscow situated in the district with the same name). The Holy Patriarch Tikhon (Belavin) of Moscow (1865-1925) was involved in composing of the service and akathist to this icon.

Michael Prokurat, Alexander Golitzin, Michael D. Peterson Скачать epub pdf BELAVIN, TIKHON BELAVIN, TIKHON, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, American missionary, martyr, St. (19 January 1865–7 April 1925). Baptized Basil, he graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy in 1888 and was appointed to the faculty of the Pskov Theological Seminary. Tonsured a monk and ordained priest in 1891, he became rector of the Kazan and Kholm Theological Seminaries, and in 1897 was made archimandrite and consecrated Bishop of Lublin. In 1898 he was appointed Bishop of the Aleutian Islands and Alaska with the bishop’s seat in San Francisco. Arriving at age thirty-three as one of the youngest hierarchs of the Russian Church, he entered his cathedral church in San Francisco on 23 December. In evaluating his archpastoral assignment, three difficult circumstances stand out: 1) The Missionary Diocese included Alaska, Canada, and the U.S., and was too big to successfully administrate; 2) this diocese of the Russian Church included all ethnic Orthodox from throughout the world, a huge diversity of languages and cultures; and 3) neither New York, Chicago, nor San Francisco had proper church buildings. In response to this circumstance, in 1902 two cathedrals were completed in New York, one Russian, one Syrian. In 1903 Holy Trinity Cathedral in Chicago was completed, as designed by Louis Sullivan. (This is the only Sullivan church in the world-built under the supervision of Fr. Joh n Kochurov [q.v.].) In 1903 to 1904 Tikhon successfully established an auxiliary bishopric in Alaska with its cathedral at Sitka and an auxiliary bishopric of Brooklyn for the Syro-Arabic Mission for which Archimandrite Raphael Hawaweeny (q.v.) was consecrated; at the same time, the Greek Holy Trinity parish in New York became the private property of three Greek laymen. In 1905 the episcopal see was transferred from San Francisco to New York and Tikhon was made archbishop. In 1906, after the San Francisco earthquake, Tikhon acquired the present site of Holy Trinity Cathedral, San Francisco (completed in 1909), one of the oldest Orthodox parishes in the western hemisphere.
