Zelensky’s US Handlers Likely Behind Decision to Seize Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Мар 30, 2023 Интервью , Новости Ukrainian President Zelensky is  trying to  drive a  wedge between Russian and Ukrainian Christians apparently on  orders from his US   «consultants », Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of  the Department for Church ’s Society and Mass Media Relations (Russian Orthodox Church), told Sputnik . March 29 is  the deadline that the Kiev regime handed to  the monks of  the  Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to  vacate the monastery’s  premises. The Ukrainian government gave the monks of  the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of  the Moscow Patriarchate ( OUC-MP) an  ultimatum by  saying that they could stay in  the Lavra only if  they join the schismatic  «Orthodox Church of  Ukraine », created by  the Poroshenko government in  2018 in  a  bid to  sever links between the Russian and Ukrainian churches and believers. «[The Ukrainian authorities are] doing this because this monastery ’s ancient, because it ’s a  symbol, and [by] claiming that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is  not the real national church of  Ukraine, they want to  have this monastery, that ’s the reason behind it », Vladimir Legoyda told Sputnik. «So  they say that the real Orthodox Church is  the Orthodox Church of  Ukraine. It  might be  confusing for our viewers and readers, because they sound similar, but it ’s two different organizations. And the church that now  Kiev-Pechersk Lavra belongs to, I  mean the monks who live there, they belong to  the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. I  stress again, the only canonical church in  Ukraine. But since  Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is  a  main symbol of  Ukrainian orthodoxy, of  Ukraine, if  you want, of  course they want to  have it  under their wing ». Legoyda explained that from a  religious viewpoint, there is  only one Orthodox Christian Church in  Ukraine, which is  the  OUC-MP. In  contrast, the  so-called Orthodox Church of  Ukraine is  a  political project that was initiated by   then-Ukrainian President Poroshenko with the support of  Constantinople Patriarchate in  a  bid to  seal the independence, or   «tomos », of  Ukrainian schismatic priests loyal to  the  post-coup Ukrainian regime.

Archive Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk: the canonical Church in Ukraine is actually declared an outlaw 22 March 2021 year 12:41 As chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk underscored on their air of the Church and the World broadcast, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – the national Church of Ukraine, the Church of the majority of the Ukrainian population – for already several years is facing a critical situation. “The previous president of Ukraine, Poroshenko, decided to create a new ‘church’ fully independent from the Russian Orthodox Church. To do so he used the services of the Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople. The new structure was formed on the basis of a schismatic group that had existed since the early 90s and had no legitimacy whatsoever from the point of view of Orthodox canons, being just a group of imposters who were declared to be a ‘church’. Whereas the canonical Church, which has over 12 thousand parishes, several hundred monasteries, over one hundred bishops and millions of the faithful, was actually declared an outlaw’, the DECR chairman noted. He mentioned in particular the Supreme Rada Law No. 2662-VIII, on the basis of which the authorities were going to forcefully rename the Ukrainian Orthodox Church into the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. ‘But it is not a Russian Church, it is a Church comprised of Ukrainians’, the hierarch underscored, ‘they have Ukrainian passports; they were born in Ukraine, and they are patriots of their country’. As of today, the application of this provision of the law to the canonical Church has been stopped but the law itself has not been cancelled. Speaking about the reasons why such actions of the state with regard to the church are inadmissible, Metropolitan Hilarion pointed out, ‘First of all, because the Church herself chooses her name. Secondly, because any forcible renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the present situation will lead to the need for her to re-register all her dioceses and parishes, and this means that in each particular place, the faithful, clergy, episcopate will be subjected to pressure to make them re-register themselves as part of the schismatic structure”. Albanian Church of St. Athanasius Suffers Two Attacks of Vandalism      The church of St. Athanasius in the southern Albanian town of Dhërmi was recently attacked and vandalized two days in a row reports the press office of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. On August 20th , during the festive period celebrating the Dormition of the Theotokos, municipality employees of Himara entered the church of St. Athanasius, removing icons and other sacred items and began to vandalize the building. The destruction took place without the knowledge of the Orthodox community or legal documentation, but carried the approval of local law enforcement. Once the destruction became known the faithful gathered at the church with their priest to protest and intervene to prevent any further damage to the holy building. The people expressed their indignation at such flagrant acts and boldly declared to defend their church against any such further attacks. They gathered again in the afternoon to protest. Again on Friday, August 21st a serious act of vandalism took place at the church of St. Athanasius when as-yet unidentified persons driving unmarked cars destroyed the cement floor of the temple. The priest was a witness to the vandalism and was almost seriously injured as the perpetrators fled the scene. Local Church authorities denounced the unprovoked action of destruction and blatant attempt to increase social conflict. The Orthodox faithful of Dhërmi were shocked by the acts of violence and have called upon the state to prosecute the offenders and intervene to stop any further attacks. The faithful are also outraged by the attitude of the media which is largely attempting to politicize and legitimize the acts of hatred. The acts of August 20th and 21st violates all possible laws considering that the church property belongs to the Orthodox community, and they especially violate Law no. 10057/22.01.2009/" On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Albania and the Orthodox Church of Albania” which guarantees the inviolability of places of worship and protects them against the state. The acts betray a profound lack of respect for non-Muslim religious communities and echoes the actions of the atheist Communists who first destroyed the church in 1972. The temple was rebuilt in 1992. The Orthodox Church of Albania condemns all such actions and calls upon its faithful to remain calm but resolute in defending their church and to pray for the repentance of the perpetrators. The Church has also vowed to rebuild the church of St. Athansius. 24 августа 2015 г. Смотри также Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Archive Metropolitan Nikiphoros of Kykkos and Tillyria calls the uncanonical decision of Patriarch of Constantinople to recognize schismatics in Ukraine the reason behind the current painful crisis in inter-Orthodox relations 30 November 2019 year 11:02 In his greeting speech to the participants in the International Conference on Monasticism and Today’s World, which opened in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 28 th  November 2019, Metropolitan Nikiphoros of Kykkos and Tillyria (Orthodox Church of Cyprus) expressed his concern over the painful crisis that had arisen within the Orthodox Church because of the uncanonical decision of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to recognize the schismatic church of Kiev and to grant it the so-called “autocephaly” in defiance of the unanimous canonical tradition and historical church practice.  “This tragedy of schism between the brethren beloved in the Lord threatens to split the body of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church of Christ,” Metropolitan Nikiphoros said, as reported by the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church citing Romfea.gr. The hierarch of the Church of Cyprus stated with regret that the current developments “resemble the threshold of the Great Schism of 1054, which divided Ecumenical Christianity into Western Catholics and Eastern Orthodox. The schism threatens Ecumenical Orthodoxy after the Primates of the Churches of Alexandria and Greece joined the Ecumenical Patriarch’s decision.” “It is not permissible for anyone, and especially for us Orthodox monks, who are the first defenders of our Church, to remain indifferent to the dramatic situation in which our Orthodoxy has found itself. We all need to translate our passive anxiety into active responsibility. We must prayerfully invoke the mercy of God and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, so that the Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches, with all-embracing love and humble and sacrificial thoughts, may listen to the voice of the Lord, overcome impermissible egoism, obsessions, and mania for power, and begin a fraternal pan-Orthodox dialogue aimed at overcoming the present crisis threatening the unity of Orthodoxy,” Metropolitan Nikiphoros also said. Having reminded all those present at the conference that “the sin of schism is incurable and inexcusable,” Metropolitan Nikiphoros of Kykkos and Tillyria added: “Only if the principle of conciliarity, on which the Orthodox Church has always relied, will work, can a way out of today’s situation be found,” website of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism reports. Archive Holy Synod voices support to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church 4 April 2019 year 15:07 On April 4, 2019, the Holy Synod under the chairmanship of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia discussed the situation in Ukraine (Minutes 21). Members of the Synod resolved to support the Statement of the Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of April 3. It reads: “The idea of overcoming the church schism in Ukraine by the granting of the Tomos of autocephaly to the uncanonical church groups (“UOC-KP” and “UAOC”) has turned out to be an error. None of the Local Orthodox Churches has recognized this illegal act perpetrated by the Patriarchate of Constantinople while a large part of the Local Churches, including the Churches of Antioch, Russia, Serbia, Cyprus, Albania, Poland and Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, have already expressed in various forms their disagreement with the decisions made by the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The Local Churches have also stated that they did not recognize the newly created “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” as well as consecrations performed in this structure and prohibit their clergy to have any prayerful contacts and liturgical concelebration with its representatives in any form whatsoever. Thus, there was no reception, in other words acceptance, by world Orthodoxy of the actions perpetrated by the Patriarchate of Constantinople; which, in fact, has attempted to legalise the schism. Indeed, the legalization of the schism is not a way along which church unity can be achieved. We remind you that according to the historical-canonical tradition of the Church, autocephaly is granted only to a one Church within a certain state, and not to any part that has broken off from the Body of the Church.” The Holy Synod voiced full support to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church which is undergoing hardships. The participants in the meeting underscored that the plenitude of the Russian Orthodox Church highly appreciates courage and firmness of the bishops, clerics, monks and nuns and pious laypersons of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the time of persecutions unleashed against it by the current state authorities of Ukraine. Addendum to the Act of Canonical Communion The Act of Canonical Communion goes into effect upon its confirmation by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, on the basis of the decision of the Holy Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church “On the Relationship with the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia” (Moscow, October 3-8, 2004); and by decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, on the basis of the resolution “Regarding the Act on Canonical Communion” of the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (San Francisco, May 15-19, 2006). 1. In accordance with the Act on Canonical Communion, certain addenda and amendments are to be made to Chapter 8 of the Regulations [Ustav] of the Russian Orthodox Church (“Self-governing Churches”) and to the Regulations [Polozhenie] of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. 2. Acting in the spirit of ecclesiastical oikonomia, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia envision a five-year transition period for the full regularization of the status of former parishes of the Russian Church Abroad on the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate, through their entering into the jurisdiction of the local ruling bishops. Before this period elapses, such parishes which are not on the territory of Self-governing Churches have the opportunity to be under the protection of a Vicar to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, who, with the blessing of the Patriarch, may participate in the work of the Council of Bishops and Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia by invitation of her First Hierarch. 3. In the countries of the diaspora where parallel church structures exist, including the Holy Land, both sides will, with proper pastoral discretion, apply every effort to resolve problems hindering successful cooperation and joint witness. 8 ноября 2006 г. ... Archive Bishops of Local Orthodox Churches express support to Lvov diocese of Ukrainian Orthodox Church over arson attack on Church of St. Vladimir in Lvov 8 February 2018 year 11:28 Following an arson attack on the Church of St. Vladimir in Lvov, which occurred on February 3, 2018, Archbishop Philaret of Lvov and Galich keeps receiving letters from hierarchs of the Local Orthodox Churches. On February 3, a letter from Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje and Nikši (Serbian Orthodox Church) came, in which he condemned the actions of the arsonists and expressed his support to the archpastor, clergy and laypeople of the Lvov diocese. “It is hard to believe that in the country, to which the holy prince had brought the light of Christ’s Gospel, his churches are being subjected to arsons. This crime could only be committed by those who are completely devoid of Christian ethics and respect for the fundamental right of every human being to have his/her own house of prayer,” the message reads, in particular. Bishop Joanikije also expressed his hope that the law enforcement agencies would do all within their power to find the criminals and would defend the right of believers to have their churches where they meet with God. While referring to the arson attack on the church in Lvov and to the sorrows of the Church throughout its history, Bishop Jovan of Pakrac and Slavonia (Serbian Orthodox Church), mentioned in this context death camps in Jasenovac in Croatia, “where in the 20th century the blood of hundreds of thousands of Orthodox Christians was shed by those who also called themselves Christians.” He assured Archbishop Philaret of his prayers and promised to raise the problem of sufferings and discrimination of the clergy and laypeople of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church while interacting with international organizations. Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veroia, Naousa and Kampania (Orthodox Church of Greece) called the arson a sacrilegious act, regardless of who had committed it, as well as a shameful and mean manifestation of religious intolerance, and also assured Archbishop Philaret of his support.
