Patriarch Kirill calls upon the plenitude of the Russian Church to continue praying for peace in Ukraine Source: DECR Communication Service February 2, 2016      On February 2, 2016, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, presenting his report to the Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, reminded the bishops that in the pre-council period, such commemorative dates were celebrated as the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia and the Millennium of the Repose of the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles. ‘The conscious choice made by the holy prince and followed by the people of Rus’ is not just an event of the past’, His Holiness said, ‘We all, our peoples in the unity of each of them and in their common unity, should again and again confirm this choice, overcoming by the power of their will, intellect, heart and spirit the resistance we encounter not only among ourselves but also in the world around us. ‘Our people, who accepted holy baptism and became part of the rich depository of the Eastern Christian civilization, could produce a multitude of great spiritual warriors, zealots of faith and devotion. We commemorated the 700th anniversary of the repose of the greatest of them – St. Sergius of Radonezh in 2014. Today the example of his life and spiritual feat is especially needed by our society and his behests that we should preserve fraternal love and unity resounds today as a distinctive alarm. ‘The Holy Prince Vladimir and St. Sergius made the most important impact not only on the spiritual unity of our people but also on the national unity of earlier separate forces. ‘In the recent years, we have witnessed how those who have rejected Christian principles bring tragic and sometimes bloody division in the Ukrainian people, one of the peoples – heirs of the Holy Prince Vladimir. We all should give all possible support to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry, the episcopate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its clergy and faithful in their efforts for peace. Your Beatitude, your efforts are an example of how Orthodox Christians seek unity there where division is propagated and sow love there where hatred is spread. I ask you all, dear fellow-archpastors to continue praying together with your flock for our brothers and sisters who are in trouble in the Ukrainian land and for those who are driven away from their churches and subjected to mockery and insult. Let us continue praying for all Ukraine, so that peace and love of one another may come to it’, Patriarch Kirill said in conclusion.      On the occasion of the anniversary of his enthronement, Patriarch Kirill and Met. Hilarion (Alfeyev) sent greetings to His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch. Greeting from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill: Your Beatitude, beloved brother in the Lord and Concelebrant: I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the day of your enthronement. Standing at the helm of the holy Church of Antioch under difficult circumstances in a great trial of affliction (2 Cor. 8:2) you have been doing the courageous and selfless responsible work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Eph. 4:12). I assure you that the Russian Orthodox Church will always support people of the same faith in keeping with the Apostle’s words whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it (1 Cor. 12:26). I prayerfully wish Your Beatitude the inexhaustible God’s help in your primatial ministry, spiritual and physical health and many blessings from the Lord, holy and true (Rev. 6:10). With brotherly love in the Lord, + Kirill Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Greetings from His Beatitude Metropolian Hilarion of Volokalamsk: Your Beatitude: I respectfully greet you with the anniversary of your election to the see of primates of the Church of Antioch. Your are proclaiming the word of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:19) and strengthening your flock in spirit during hard times of persecution carried out by the forces seeking to uproot the Christian faith in the ancient Biblical land of the Middle East. You are encouraging the people of God to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, contine constant in prayer, rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep (cf. Rom. 12:12-15). This appeal finds a cordial response in the hearts of the faithful. I wholeheartedly wish Your Beatitude abundant mercies from Christ the Saviour, spiritual and physical fortitude in the Lord, and I wish a just and lasting peace and prosperity to your beloved flock. Fund-raising for the Serbian Church in Kosovo and Metochia continuing Moscow, May 12, 2013 Fund-raising for the Serbian Church in Kosovo and Metochia is continuing. " It is known to everyone how tragic the current situation of Serbian residents of Kosovo is,” noted his Holiness Patriarch Kirill in his report at the Holy Council of Bishops on February 2, 2013. “The Russian Orthodox Church traditionally gives support to its sister Church—the Serbian Orthodox Church—in its difficult mission in this region. "      In January 2012, with the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch Kirill, fund-raising for support of Serbian churches and monasteries in Kosovo as well as charity programs of the Serbian Church was begun. A part of the raised funds the equivalent of 200,000 Euros, raised in the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow, was given at the request of Bishop Theodosius of Razhko-Prizren in summer 2012 to the Orthodox seminary in Prizren that had been renewed after several years of neglect. With those funds, restoration work was carried out and several buildings were put into operation, thus doubling the total number of the seminary " s students and teachers in autumn. The Serbian Church and people in Kosovo still need help desperately. Many Monasteries and Churches require restoration or repairs, works in the Prizren seminary are still far from completion, and Church organizations are supporting people who are struggling for survival. " I am calling dioceses and monasteries to be more actively involved in support to our brothers and sisters in faith who are in an extremely difficult situation, " stressed his Holiness Patriarch Kirill in his report at the Holy Bishops " Council. -------------------------- For those who wish to make a donation to this fund in Euros, please use the following bank transfer information: Bank correspondent: SWIFT: OWHBDEFFXXX VTB BANK (DEUTSCHLAND) AG FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY Beneficiary " s bank: SWIFT: ERCCRUMMXXX Acc.0103471397 CB ERGOBANK LLC Bldg. 1, 2 4 Staropansky Pereulok 109012, Moscow, Russia Beneficiary " s name: 40703978000001012685 Sretensky Stauropegial Monastery ROC (MP) ______________ ruskosovo@gmail.com Pravoslavie.ru 13 мая 2013 г. ...
