Tens of Thousands of Muslims Coming to Christ, Says Iranian Ministry Leader October 21, 2010 Speakers at the Evangelical Christian Lausanne III congress, also known as Cape Town 2010 congress gave hopeful messages of how God is moving and bringing hope despite addressing some of the darkest and seemingly most hopeless situations in the world today, The Christian Post reports. The Middle East, which has become almost synonymous with violence and Islam, is experiencing an unprecedented level of Muslims becoming followers of Jesus Christ, said Sam Yeghnazar, founder of Iran-focused Elam Ministries. There were only about 500 Iranian Christians from a Muslim background at the time of Lausanne I in 1974, he said. But over the past 30 years, more Muslims have come to Christ than in the past 1,300 years. “Iran today is a closed land with countless open hearts,” said Yeghnazar. “It is the most open nation to the Gospel in the entire world. Tens of thousands of Iranians are turning to Christ.” “Betrayed by the government, disillusioned with the religion, depressed by the prospects of the future, Iranians when they come to know the Lord Jesus Christ are completely transformed,” he said. “They proclaim Christ in the marketplace. Entire families, men and women, are coming to Christ.” Two weeks ago, two of Yeghnazar’s people were imprisoned and within a week they brought six people to Christ, he shared. Meanwhile, Palestinian Christian Salim (last name withheld for security reasons), spoke about hope for true peace in the Middle East through Christ. By understanding Jesus’ death on the cross, Palestinian Christians “shy away from the poison of hatred” and are compelled to explain to the world about peace and justice. “Anchoring our identity in the messiah, we can open our hearts to angry Muslim neighbors and to fearful Jewish soldiers behind check points,” said Salim. “[There is] a divine one who can change stone hearts to flesh.” More than 4,000 Christian leaders representing over 190 nations gathered last week for Lausanne III, also known as Cape Town 2010. The purpose of the Lausanne Congresses was to bring the global body of Christ together to discuss how to best evangelize the world. The Congress also discussed global problems facing the Church, including secularization, Islam, HIV/AIDS, prosperity gospel, and environmental concerns, among other topics. The conference program ended Sunday. 21 октября 2010 г. ... Смотри также Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Archive Пн Выступление Святейшего Патриарха Кирилла на заседании Группы стратегического видения «Россия — исламский мир» 19 May 2023 year 13:42 On the 19th of May, 2023, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus " , who is making a Patriarchal visit to Tatarstan, took part in a meeting of Russia-Islam Strategic Vision Group held at the Kazan City Hall and addressed the audience.  Address by Patriarch KIRILL of Moscow and All Russia at the meeting of Russia-Islam Strategic Vision Group (Kazan, 18th May 2023).  Dear Rustam Nurgaliyevich, dear Muslim religious leaders, dear participants in the forum, I greet you with all my heart, happy to be here with you today, on the blessed Kazan land, and take part in this important meeting. Russia has long-standing relations with the Muslim world. Since the Russia-Islam Strategic Vision Group was set up, the Russian Orthodox Church has been actively engaging in its work. Our meeting takes place in Kazan. The capital of Tatarstan, perhaps like no other place in Russia, is a visual symbol of fruitful cooperation between people of different faiths for the good of their country and nation. In this city, mosques stand next to churches; Muslim and Orthodox theology is flourishing. Here Christians and Muslims work together for the benefit of the entire society. I would like to thank esteemed Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov, head of the Republic of Tatarstan, for organising this important event. Traditionally, the head of the Kazan Metropolia acts as representative of the Russian Church in the Russia-Islam Strategic Vision Group. Metropolitan Feofan of blessed memory did much in that capacity, and now his successor, Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan, who is present here, is one of the Group members. As we look at what is going on in the world, we cannot but see that Western interference in the affairs of other countries, in particular, the Middle East has had sorrowful consequences. Less than a month ago it was the 10th anniversary of the abduction of two metropolitans of Aleppo in Syria. Metropolitans Paul of the Orthodox Church of Antioch and Mar Gregorios Yohanna were kidnapped by terrorists and we still do not know what happened to those remarkable religious leaders. The so-called “Arab Spring” only brought sorrow and countless tribulations to people of those countries, the majority of them Muslims. The Western forces were trying to use a religious factor to destroy those countries’ statehood, to sow enmity and provoke divisions on religious grounds in society. It resulted in an outburst of brutality and violence, and a surge in terror attacks committed under religious slogans. Our own history and the history of other countries clearly show that such approach is inadmissible. We – Christians and Muslims – have to stand against extremism, and in this regard the work of the Russia-Islam Strategic Vision Group is of particular value and significance.

The Aleppo Codex, the oldest surviving copy of the Hebrew Bible that some experts believe all versions of the Old Testament stem from, has been recognized by UNESCO as an important world treasure. I24News reported that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization added the millennium-old Codex earlier this week to its International Memory of the World Register, which honors some of the most important discoveries relating to human history. Adolfo Roitman, the head curator of the Shrine of the Book Museum in Jerusalem, which holds the Codex, explained its significance, stating that all current versions of the Old Testament stem, " in one way or another, from this ancient manuscript. " The Codex is believed to have been written somewhere around the year 930 in the town of Tiberias on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. It has been moved around through several different cities, and as many as 190 pages are missing from the surviving copy, though scholars disagree where and when they were lost. It was smuggled out of Syria and arrived in Israel in 1958, before it was eventually moved to the Israel Museum in the mid-1980s. It is also not clear who precisely owns the Codex, though filmmaker Avi Dabach, who is planning to make a documentary about the ancient manuscript, believes that it belongs to the Jewish community that fled Syria. " In the 1960s the Aleppo-Jewish community sued the people who brought the Codex to Israel … The Israeli Authorities decided to confiscate this item and then, from a position of strength, force on the community an arrangement, " Dabach has said. Although the Aleppo Codex is considered the oldest copy of the Hebrew Old Testament, there are much older fragments of biblical manuscripts in existence, such as the 2,000-year-old Dead Sea scrolls. The scrolls, written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, date back to the first and third centuries BCE, and contain texts from the Old Testament pertaining to the birth of Christianity. They are believed to have been hidden from approaching Roman armies in the caves in the Judean desert on the shores of the Dead Seas somewhere around 68 BCE. Back in September 2011, the scrolls were made available online through a joint effort by Israel " s national museum and Google, whereas previously only a small group of scholars had read them. Exhibition on Christianization of Europe in middle ages opens in Germany Paderborn, August 2, 2013 The exhibition " Credo: Christianization of Europe in middle ages " has opened in the Paderborn Diocesan museum in Germany, reports Sedmitza.ru . The Christianization of Europe happened not as a linear process but as a dynamic phenomenon that went in different ways in different regions of Europe. The exposition describes achievements and failures of missionaries, facts on missionary activities associated with the military expansion and other coercive actions. The exhibition " s organizers hope that those who observe the exhibition will think about the meaning of Christianity today and its role in the process of forming of national states. About 800 exhibits from around 230 museums, libraries and private collections of various European countries--from Iceland and Italy to the Ukraine as well as the USA have been collected for the exhibition. Among the most valuable objects are the text of St. Paul " s Epistle to Romans of early medieval period (kept at the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin) and also " The Petersburg Gospel " from the Russian National Library, which is rarely exhibited. A well-known " Epos of Charlemagne " that describes the meeting of the king of Franks with Pope Leo III in 799 in Paderborn (kept at the Central Zurich Library) will also be on exhibition as well. Moreover, the organizers have brought with them artwork from the Art History Museum in Vienna, San Marco in Venice, and also treasures from the National museum of the Ukraine and the Marienburg castle of Poland that were not exhibited in Europe before. They include the Byzantine decorations and elements of decor from the former residence of the Great Master of the Teutonic Order. A separate part of the exhibition tells of recent archeological finds, shedding new light on the history of the spread of Christianity in Europe. Specifically, the exposition includes finds from the burial of an Anglo-Saxon prince, the so called " Prince of Prittlewell " (ca. 700) that was discovered in 2003. Now restored and kept at the Southend-on-Sea museum (Essex), the burial vault was first reconstructed outside Great Britain. The exhibition is held under patronage of the president of Germany Joachim Gauck and is organized jointly with the Paderborn administration, the Archbishopric of Paderborn and the Regional association of Westhalia-Lippe. This is the third successful joint national exhibition project after the exhibitions, " The Carolingian Culture and Arts " and " Canossa that Shook the World " . 6 августа 2013 г. ... The school district and the student then agreed on a settlement in which the district admitted it violated the student " s First Amendment rights by forcing him to attend such assemblies, and also paid his legal fees. But after being notified about Gill " s prayer to start the honors ceremony in 2014, the AHA filed a motion accusing the district of being in contempt of court for failing to uphold its end of the settlement. Although lawyers for the school district argued that Gill " s prayer did not violate the 2013 orders or the student " s First Amendment rights because attendance at the assembly was optional, Reeves did not side with the school district " s arguments. " The district " s breach did not take very long and it occurred in a very bold way, " Reeves wrote in his judgement. " Its conduct displays that the district did not make any effort to adhere to the agreed judgment. " In his summary, Reeves accused the school district of trying to indoctrinate students with Christianity. " It deliberately went out of its way to entangle Christian indoctrination in the education process, " the judge argued. " From the accounts detailed in the record, it appears that incorporating religious script and prayers with school activities has been a long-standing tradition of the district. " Rankin County Superintendent Lynn Weathersby said in a statement issued through school board attorney Fred Harrell that despite the court " s ruling, students and teachers will continue to pray. However, district staff will have to adjust in order to comply with the ruling. " As long as there is testing in schools, we believe that teachers, principals and students will continue to pray, " Weathersby stated. " That being said, the school district will certainly abide by the order of any court to the best of its ability and will take whatever action necessary to make sure that all principals and teachers are updated on the current status of the law and that order. According to Christian Today, Samer and his family left Syria to come to Texas just days after the Paris attacks. The family was taken to an immigration center near San Antonio. Samer has a wife and two sons, ages 2 and 5. " My very small children are in prison, " Samer told reporters. " I had no idea that the political climate was so against Syrian refugees. If I had known that it was so terrible here I wouldn " t have brought my family. " Christian Today reports that the family has undergone a background check but are not security threats. “They have followed every rule, completed every step in the process that results in asylum seekers being released to live with their families and told to report to court, but they are being treated differently ... the saddest thing about these cases is that these people fled from a government that singled them out because of who they were – Christians,” said Jonathan Ryan, their attorney. “They came to our country seeking protection only to find that we are doing the same thing because of their national origin.” The debate over refugee immigration into the U.S. has continued to grow. About half of the governors in the U.S. have said they oppose settling Syrian refugees in their states. U.S. evangelical leaders released a statement this week saying that “voices of fear” cannot dictate immigration policy. " Moments like these are when Christians cannot remain silent and still. In light of this crisis, we commit ourselves and our churches to actively care for and minister to global refugees with mercy and compassion, both here and abroad, based on God " s compelling concern for all people in need and especially refugees. ISIS Jihadists Shave Beards, Dress as Women to Flee to West October 22, 2015 In the face of heavy Russian airstrikes, a number of ISIS militants have reportedly fled to Turkey from Syria by shaving off theirbeards and dressing as women to pass unnoticed.      Mounds of shaved facial hair have been discovered in Aleppo, Syria, along with discarded packets of Syrian razors. A photo on Twitter posted by Iraqi journalist Hala Jaber shows huge piles of hair. The journalist tweeted that the ISIS fighters shaved off their beards so they could escape clean shaven to Turkey.      According to members of anti-ISIS resistance, some newly-shaved Islamic State militants are donning women’s robes and veils to get away unnoticed. Islamic State fighters all wear shaggy beards, and shaving or cutting facial hair is “haram” (forbidden) under Sharia law. Last April, ISIS overlords banned shaving among the male population of captive Mosul, citing Sharia precepts. As more than 500 Russian army airstrikes have pounded the jihadi forces in Syria, Moscow security services contend that thousands of terrorists have abandoned their weapons and fled to Turkey, apparently en route to Europe as refugees. According to senior Russian General Andrey Kartapolov, cases of desertion among the jihadists are no longer isolated, and the Islamists are now demoralized and fleeing “en masse.” Moreover, as many as 3,000 UK nationals who headed to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS are feared to be on their way back home, reports claim. In a September interview with BBC Radio, MI5 Director-General Andrew Parker said that the present terrorism situation is the “most serious threat Britain faces in security terms.” He noted that six alleged terror plots have been foiled in the past 12 months, which was the highest number he could recall in his 32-year career and “certainly the highest number since 9/11.” “Most of the people who try to become involved in terrorism in this country are people who were born and brought up here, have come through our education system, and have nonetheless concluded that the country – their home country and the country of their birth – is their enemy,” he said. 22 октября 2015 г. Martyr Nicephorus of Antioch, in Syria Commemorated on February 9 The Holy Martyr Nicephorus lived in the city of Syrian Antioch. In this city lived also the presbyter Sapricius, with whom Nicephorus was very friendly, so that they were considered as brothers. They quarreled because of some disagreement, and their former love changed into enmity and hate. After a certain time Nicephorus came to his senses, repented of his sin and more than once asked Sapricius, through mutual friends, to forgive him. Sapricius, however, did not wish to forgive him. Nicephorus then went to his former friend and fervently asked forgiveness, but Sapricius was adamant. At this time the emperors Valerian (253-259) and Gallius (260-268) began to persecute Christians, and one of the first brought before the court was the priest Sapricius. He firmly confessed himself a Christian, underwent tortures for his faith and was condemned to death by beheading with a sword. As they led Sapricius to execution, Nicephorus tearfully implored his forgiveness saying, “O martyr of Christ, forgive me if I have sinned against you in any way.” The priest Sapricius remained stubborn, and even as he approached death he refused to forgive his fellow Christian. Seeing the hardness of his heart, the Lord withdrew His blessing from Sapricius, and would not let him receive the crown of martyrdom. At the last moment, he suddenly became afraid of death and agreed to offer sacrifice to idols. In vain did Saint Nicephorus urge Sapricius not to lose his reward through apostasy, since he already stood on the threshold of the heavenly Kingdom. Saint Nicephorus then said to the executioner, “I am a Christian, and I believe in our Lord Jesus Christ. Execute me in place of Sapricius.” The executioners reported this to the governor. He decided to free Sapricius, and to behead Nicephorus in his place. Thus did Saint Nicephorus inherit the Kingdom and receive a martyr’s crown. Troparion — Tone 4 Your holy martyr Nicephorus, O Lord,/through his suffering has received an incorruptible crown from You, our God./For having Your strength, he laid low his adversaries,/and shattered the powerless boldness of demons./Through his intercessions, save our souls! Kontakion — Tone 1 Bound with chains of love, O Nicephorus,/you demolished the malice of hatred./And when beheaded, you became a holy martyr for the Incarnate Savior./Pray to Him for us who praise your glorious memory in song.
