In her own recollections, Mother Barbara related how Patriarch Alexy I persuaded her to accepted the obedience of abbess of Piukhtitsa Convent, despite her protests and doubts. " I came here neither dead nor alive. [I thought,] what am I going to do? How shall I do it? Where should I begin?... " Gradually, through Mother Barbara " s wise governance, Piukhtitsa Convent was transformed, and became a true stronghold of Orthodoxy in the Estonian land. Every day, hundreds of Estonians and pilgrims from all over the world come here, and for many tourists their visit becomes a turning point in their lives; they receive holy Baptism and begin to lead a Christian life. Abbess Barbara enjoyed great authority not only among the pilgrims, but also with the civil and governmental authorities—each considered it a great fortune to have had a chance to talk with her and receive her blessing. The abbot of Sretensky Monastery, Archimandrite Tikhon, and brothers, express their deepest condolences to the sisters of Piukhtitsa Convent. This heavy and irreplaceable loss can be lightened only through our faith in eternal life, and our hope in the prayers of our dearly beloved Matushka Barbara in the Kingdom of Heaven. May her memory be eternal! Schema-Abbess Barbara " s funeral will take place on February 10. Abbess Barbara (in the world, Valentina Alexeyevna Trofimova) was born on August 17, 1930, in the town of Chudovo, Novgorod Province, to a pious family, where she received a deeply Orthodox upbringing. At the onset of World War II, her family evacuated to the town of Luga, Leningrad Province. There, Valentina received her high school education, and sang and read in the Kazan Church. After graduating from accounting school, she worked in her field. But the young girl " s heart yearned for another life, and in 1952, her desire was fulfilled: she became a novice in the Convent of the Mother of God—in the Piukhtitsa Dormition Convent. In 1955, Valentina Trofimova continued her obedience in the Vilnius Convent of St. Mary Magdalene, under the leadership of the experienced eldress and abbess, Nina (Batasheva) (later Schema-Abbess Barbara), seven of whose wards—including Valentina—later became abbesses. On March 5, 1958, Ryassafore Nun Valentina Trofimova received the tonsure into the mantia, with the name Barbara.

Moldovan president opposes LGBT march in capital city Moscow, May 18, 2017 Photo: www.facebook.com/dodon.igor1      Moldovan president Igor Dodon has spoken out against holding a pro-LGBT march in the capital city of Chiinu, reports Interfax-Religion . “I am expressing my categorical position against holding an LGBT march. I informed the extraordinary and plenipotentiary U.S. ambassador to Moldova James Pettit that it is not only my personal position, but the position of the vast majority of Moldovan citizens. I very clearly stressed that such actions contradict our traditional values, Orthodox faith, and morals. They cannot be, and will be accepted neither by me personally nor by society as a whole,” Dodon wrote on his Facebook page. Instead, he reports, they have decided to organize a number of activities to support and promote traditional family values, which will begin on Sunday in Chiinu. Events are being held this week as part of the 16th LGBT festival “Moldova Pride 2017.” U.S. Ambassador John Pettit and representatives of the Swedish and Dutch embassies were present at the LGBT opening ceremonies. In February, President Dodon turned down an invitation from Amnesty International to take part in the LGBT march. The organization argued that his participation “would prove that he wants to be president of all.” Press secretary Igor Cheban responded that “Igor Dodon was and remains the president for all people in the Republic of Moldova and intends to further participate in events common to all citizens of the nation. During this march, of which the representatives of this organization spoke about, there will, as last year, be a number of events organized in support of the traditional family, which the president of the country will certainly take part in.” 18 мая 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Смотри также Комментарии George Mims 18 мая 2017, 17:07 Thank God LGBT IS BEING REJECTED as legimitate way to understand sexuality. Tweet Нравится President of Moldova rejects invitation to participate in LGBT march Moscow, February 27, 2017 Photo: http://twitter.com/igordodon      President Igor Dodon of Moldova has declined an invitation to participate in a march dedicated to sexual minorities, reports Interfax-Religion . In response to the invitation, President Dodon is instead “initiating events in defense of traditional values.” The invitation came from representatives of “Amnesty International” at the beginning of last week who were giving a report on the state of human rights in Moldova. They suggested that the head of state participate in an LGBT march in the spring, as this “would prove that he wants to be president for all,” confusing representing all as condoning all actions. “Igor Dodon was and remains the president for all people in the Republic of Moldova and intends to further participate in events common to all citizens of the nation. During this march, of which the representatives of this organization spoke about, there will, as last year, a number of events organized in support of the traditional family, which the president of the country will certainly take part in,” stated the president’s press secretary Igor Cheban. He also noted that the president plans to launch several initiatives in support of young families, maternity, children, and programs aimed at strengthening the family institution. He then called upon all Moldovans to join in such activities. President Dodon campaigned on stances of active support for the strengthening of Orthodoxy and the preservation of traditional Christian values. 27 февраля 2017 г. The church, under the patronage of St. Andrew and All Russian Saints, being built in a Russian style, is unparalleled on the island. The church is due to be consecrated and opened in March this year, reports the site of the Church of Cyprus. Initially the work was to be completed in January, but equipment was delayed coming from St. Petersburg. Now the opening is set for March 27, at which Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades will be present to honor the sponsor of the project, Russian millionaire Viataslav Zarenkov. The new church boasts five gold domes which arrived from St. Petersburg in the summer and were assembled in the courtyard by a group of Russians. The central dome, weighing nearly eight tons, was placed on the church on July 7, 2016 to the sound of chanting and fireworks, followed by a music and dance program. The church will hold 400 people and is to be surrounded by a large hillside garden, pavilions, a reception area, a park for disabled children with special games for those who have mobility problems, and Byzantine-style fountains of Holy Water. The “Route of Russian Holiness” with mosaics of Russian Saints will also be built. 8 февраля 2017 г. Synaxis of the Hierarchs of Novgorod, Buried in the Cathedral of the Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia) in Novgorod Commemorated on February 10      The Synaxis of Novgorod Hierarchs is also celebrated on October 4 and on the third Sunday after Pentecost. On October 4, 1439 Saint John (September 7) appeared to the presiding hierarch Saint Euthymius (March 11) and ordered him to serve a special panikhida in memory of those buried at the Sophia cathedral (the Russian princes and Archbishops of Novgorod, and all Orthodox Christians) on the Feast of the Hieromartyr Hierotheus, first Bishop of Athens. Then the incorrupt relics of Saint John (September 7) were uncovered. Afterwards, the Synaxis was established to mark the glorification of the Novgorod hierarchs. E.E. Golubinsky says that because these hierarchs remained unknown at the time of their glorification, he determined this date for their common celebration was established in the period between the time of the Moscow Council of 1549 and the time of the formation of the Holy Synod (E.E. Golubinsky, History of the Canonization of Saints in the Russian Church. Moscow, 1903, p. 157). Included in the Synaxis of Novgorod hierarchs are: Saint Joachim of Korsun, first bishop of Novgorod (988-1030); Saint Luke the Jew, bishop (October 15, 1060); Saint Germanus, bishop (1078-1096); Saint Arcadius, bishop (September 18); Saint Gregory, archbishop (May 24, 1193); Saint Martyrius, archbishop (August 24, 1199); Saint Anthony, archbishop (October 8, 1231); Saint Basil the Lame, archbishop (July 3, 1352); Saint Simeon, archbishop (June 15, 1421); Saint Gennadius, archbishop (December 4); Saint Pimen, archbishop (1553-1571); Aphthonius, metropolitan (April 6, 1653). The relics of these saints were buried or transferred to Novgorod’s Sophia Cathedral (except for Saint Germanus, Saint Gennadius and Saint Pimen) therefore, in some sources their names are not included in the Synaxis. The October 4 celebration was established in connection with the memory of the holy Prince Vladimir Yaroslavich of Novgorod (+ 1052), and the February 10 Synaxis of the Novgorod hierarchs is celebrated in connection with the holy Princess Anna of Novgorod (+ 1056). Besides those mentioned, hierarchs who have separate commemorations are: Saint Nikita the Hermit, bishop (January 31); Saint Niphon, bishop (April 8); Saint John, archbishop (September 7); Saint Theoctistus, archbishop (December 23); Saint Moses, archbishop (January 25); Saint Euthymius, archbishop (March 11); Saint Jonah, archbishop (November 5); Saint Serapion, archbishop (March 16). Archive Two communities, victims of OCU raids, celebrate Pascha in new churches 4 May 2021 year 11:31 Pascha 2021 has become special for two communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who have been deprived of their churches seized by the ‘OCU’. After a raiding attack made by schismatics, who captured on 21 February 2019 the church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist at the Bronitsa village, Kamen-Kashirskiy district, Volyn region, the canonical Church’s community driven away from their church, had to assemble for divine services at an adjusted facility, but this time they celebrated the feast of the Radiant Resurrection of Christ in a new church erected for very few months. The office of the foundation laying was accomplished by Bishop Afanasiy of Kamen-Kashirskyi, vicar of the diocese of Volyn, on November 8, 2020, and already on March 27, 2021, the cupola crosses were blessed and installed on the church dedicated to the Icon of the Mother of God ‘Swift to Hearken " and built by the community instead of the captured one. The photos of the first Paschal Liturgy were published in Facebook by the rector of the community, Rev. Nazary Priymak. The parishioners of the St. Michael community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Nesvich village, Lutsk district, Volyn region, also celebrated Pascha in a new church build instead of the church taken away by the ‘OCU’. The photos of the Paschal service were published in Facebook by the rector of the community, Archpriest Nikolay Kovalchuk. It is still necessary to carry out a great deal of construction work but the parishioners already assemble in it for divine services. As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported on its website, because of the raiding actions of the ‘OCU activists, the local St. Michael community of the canonical Church has lost access to their own church since March 4, 2019. Already on March 18, by an order of the head of the Volyn regional state administration, the parish was re-registered in favour of schismatic and later by another order the church, which is an architectural monument, was transferred for use to a newly formed community of the ‘OCU’. At first, the aggrieved community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church assembled at the church house near the church but the people were pushed from it as well. For a long time, the parishioners, who remained faithful to the canonical church, assembled for worship in a tent installed near the church but when colds came, the fellow-villagers were let in her home by one of the parishioners. Tweet Нравится Patriarch Kirill to prayerfully commemorate 100th anniversary of Tsar Nicholas II " s abdication Moscow, March 10, 2017 Photo: swh.schoolworkhelper.netdna-cdn.com      The centenary of the abdication from the throne of the holy Royal Martyr Tsar Nicholas II will be marked by a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy, as established by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church at its March 9th meeting in Moscow, reports the site of the Moscow Patriarchate . The prayerful commemoration will take place March 15, on the anniversary of Tsar Nicholas’ stepping-down from the throne, which is also the day of the “Reigning” or “Enthroned” Icon of the Mother of God which miraculously appeared in the village of Kolomenskoye, near Moscow, on the same day as the tsar’s abdication. The appearance of the icon was perceived by the faithful as a sign that the Mother of God would protect the Russian land in the stead of the tsar, from which it takes its name. The Reigning Icon is kept at the Kazan Church in Kolomenskoye Park where it was found, and is one of modern Russia’s main sacred objects. Patriarch Kirill is scheduled to celebrate the anniversary Liturgy in this church. 10 марта 2017 г.
