Archive New Russian Orthodox church consecrated in Spanish Torrevieja 27 March 2018 year 14:28 March 25, 2018 – Bishop Nestor of Korsun, administrator of the Korsun diocese, celebrated the Grand Consecration of a new parish Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Torrevieja, Alicante Province, Spain. During the consecration, the relics of the Holy Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian were placed at the holy altar. After a procession with the cross, Bishop Nestor, after anointing the holy relics with myrrh, placed them together with the consecration deed into a reliquary and seal it with reliquary wax. This placement of a part of holy relics at the basis of the altar means that the Universal Church in the period of persecution was established on the bones of martyrs. In the newly consecrated church, the archpastor celebrated the Divine Liturgy. He was assisted by Archpriest Yaroslav Dybach, rector of the Parish of St. George in Valencia, Archpriest Sergiy Prosandeyed, Hiero-schema-monk Nicholas (Serbian Church), Deacon Roman Onika, and other guests of the parish in holy orders. There were some 400 worshipers including parishioners, pilgrims and guests of the community from various parishes in Spain. After the liturgy, Bishop Nestor delivered an archpastoral homily, congratulated the community with the opening of a new church and presented laudatory diplomas to churchwardens and parishioners who proved to be the most active participants in the purchasing and adorning of the new church building. The building to be later arranged according to the canons of the interior decoration of the Orthodox church, was bought in autumn 2017. At the same time, the community bought an adjacent plot of land next to the picturesque Park of Europe 400 meters from the Mediterranean coastline. According to a report from the diocese of Korsun, the purchase of a new church facility became possible thanks to the active actions of the clergy and parishioners who managed in a short time to raise the sum necessary to continue financing the project. The Sermon of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill after the Divine Liturgy in the Dormition Camhedral in London 16 октября 2016 г. 22:45 On the 16th of October His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visiting the Diocese of Sourozh consecrated the Cathedral of the Dormination of the Mother of God in London and celebrated the Divine Liturgy therein. After the service the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church delivered a sermon. Your Eminences, and Graces, dear Bishop Yelisei, Your Grace Justin Welby, archbishop of Canterbury, Your Highness Prince Michael of Kent, high representatives of the Catholic, Armenian and Coptic Churches, dear brothers and sisters, I extend my heartfelt greetings to you all on this historic occasion in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church in the British Isles. We are celebrating the three hundredth anniversary of the presence of Russian Orthodox people in Great Britain. And we are celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of our community in this holy church, once kindly put at our disposal by the Church of England, and then acquired on the means of her parishioners. This is a great event and, going back in time, I can testify to the great path this community has trod. The first time I crossed the threshold of this church was in 1969. I don " t know whether there is anyone here today present who attended this church back then. I recall that there was quite a small group of people united by their Orthodox faith and guided by their spiritual father and leader the ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom), who did much to establish this community. And now we testify with thanks to God that the Russian Orthodox presence has grown significantly. This might be explained by the number of Russians, Ukrainians and Byelorussians who today live in Great Britain. But the growth of Russian speakers in Great Britain does not at all determine parish growth. The growth of the Orthodox community testifies to the strengthening of the Orthodox faith in the hearts of our people. What we see today in London we can see especially clearly in Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia.

Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates the Day of All Saints at Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria Moscow, June 8, 2015      On June 7, 2015, the Day of All Saints, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), led the parishioners of the church of All Saint-at-Kulishki, the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria, in celebrating the Divine Liturgy. The liturgy was celebrated in Greek and Church Slavonic. After the liturgy the DECR chairman was greeted by Metropolitan Athanasios of Kyrenia, rector of the Representation, who said in particular, ‘The fact that you have accepted our invitation and our common celebration of the great Sacrament do not just point out the good relations between the Patriarchates of Alexandria and Moscow but, more important, make it visible that the holy Churches of God are bound up by inseparable unity, comprising One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church’.      In his response, Metropolitan Hilarion spoke about the Day of All Saints as a feast commemorating hundreds of thousands of people who, following Christ, took the path of sanctity. The Lord Jesus Christ, he said, came out against the understanding of sanctity as one’s isolation from society and the need to observe a whole bulk of prescriptions and statutes. The Lord told very simple things to people: ‘the kingdom of God is within you’, and the spiritual struggle for sanctity is waged within a person. Speaking about martyrs and confessors who followed Christ on the way to sanctity in times of persecution against the Church, Metropolitan Hilarion pointed to the fact that the Church has again become persecuted today in the Middle East, where Christianity was born and in North Africa, where Christians have become a persecuted minority. ‘We pray every day that the Lord may give us peaceful times. We pray for all Local Orthodox Churches and especially for such old Patriarchates as that of Alexandria founded by St. Mark, asking the Lord that He may preserve and multiply Christian faith in the countries in which it is subjected to oppression and persecution today’. Addressing Metropolitan Athanasios, His Eminence Hilarion thanked him for the opportunity to celebrate together and to pray for His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore, saying, ‘ We know and love him. He used to serve in Odessa as representative of the Patriarch of Alexandria to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. He has covered a long and difficult path and founded a great number of church communities in various African countries… I rejoice in the fact that the spiritual ties between our two Churches are developing and strengthening today including through your efforts’. 8 июня 2015 г.
