Archive Пн Greeting address by His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania 29 April 2018 year 14:56 On April 29, 2018, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Tirana.  After the liturgy Archbishop Anastasios addressed the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church with words of Easter greeting. ‘Krishti u Ngjall! Χριστς ανστη! Христос Воскресе! Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name (Ps. 102:1). The Easter exultation and gratitude fill the hearts of all of us during your first peace visit to Albania, Your Beatitude and Holiness, my brother in Christ, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. This sincere joy has been crowned with today’s con-celebration, which chiefly serves as an expression of the unity of Orthodoxy. Our gratitude for the Paschal gift of your presence here is throbbing with life, rising to God glorified in the Trinity. During the thanksgiving yesterday, I mentioned the experience of our initial cooperation in the early 1970s in the framework of SYNDESMOS, the World Fellowship of Orthodox Youth, in which we served as vice-presidents; you as a representative of the energetic young generation of then Soviet Union, and I as a SYNDESMOS veteran responsible for the external mission of Walking, an inter-Orthodox center. At that time the Russian Church could still feel the anti-religious pressure, while the Albanian Church reached the bottom of the abyss of godless persecution as she was completely destroyed. I often ponder over our energetic participation in the work of Orthodox youth, because, as you know, I consider this sphere to be decisively and always vitally important for Orthodoxy. I am invariably convinced that the youth who search for freedom, justice and love will find the richness of life they wish in the Church of He Who Himself is Truth and Life. Speaking of the Albanian Church, we always stress that the youth are not just her ‘future’ but also her powerful present.

When living at Thessalonica became impossible for the saint, he was forced to journey to Moldavia under the protection of its sovereign, Basil Lukulos, and he settled there in the monastery of Saint Nicholas near Galats, but he longed for Mount Athos. He visited it often and hoped to finish his life there, but God ordained something else for him. In 1652 after the death of Patriarch Cyril I, Saint Athanasius was returned to the patriarchal throne. He remained only fifteen days, since he was not acceptable to the Moslems and Catholics. During his final Patriarchal service he preached a sermon in which he denounced papal pretensions to universal jurisdiction over the whole Church. Persecuted by the Moslems and Jesuits, physically weakened, he transferred the administration of the Church of Constantinople to Metropolitan Paisius of Laureia, and he withdrew to Moldavia, where he was appointed administrator of the monastery of Saint Nicholas at Galats. Knowing the deep faith and responsiveness of the Russian nation, Saint Athanasius undertook a journey to Russia. In April 1653 he was met with great honor in Moscow by Patriarch Nikon (1652-1658) and Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich. Having received generous alms for the needs of the monastery, Patriarch Athanasius left for Galats in December 1653. On the way he fell ill and stayed at the Transfiguration Mgarsk monastery in the city of Lubno in February 1654. Sensing his impending death, the saint wrote his last will, and he fell asleep in the Lord on April 5. Igumen Petronios and the brethren of the monastery buried the Patriarch. By Greek custom the saint was buried in a sitting position. On February 1, 1662 Saint Athanasius was glorified as a saint and his Feastday was designated as May 2, the Feast of Saint Athanasius the Great. Tsarist Russia Bans Internet Porn/Православие.Ru Tsarist Russia Bans Internet Porn Moscow, April 15, 2015 Vladimir Putin once said half the Internet is nothing but “porno materials.” While a major academic study in 2010 found that, in reality, just 4 percent of websites were pornographic, it " s an undisputed fact that there is indeed a lot of adult-rated material on the Web. If the Russian court system gets its way, however, the number of legal pornographic websites on the RuNet could drop to zero. That " s right: a district court in Tatarstan has banned 136 porn sites, and the language of its ruling implies that all Internet porn is hereby against the law. On April 13, 2015, the newspaper Izvestia reported that a court in Tatarstan " s Apastovsky district has ordered Roskomnadzor, the federal government " s media watchdog, to add 136 websites to its Internet blacklist, if the sites fail to purge themselves of all pornographic content within the next three days. The list of websites includes xHamster , one of the most popular destinations for pornography in the world. The local district attorney " s office, which petitioned the court to crack down on Internet porn, cited in its suit obscure international agreements from the early twentieth century, Izvestia reported. First, prosecutors pointed out that international treaties constitute an integral part of Russian law according to the Russian Constitution, even arguing—rather unorthodoxly—that international obligations take priority over domestic legislation, when the two are in conflict. Then, prosecutors cited the Convention for the Suppression of the Circulation of Obscene Publications , signed in Paris in 1910, and the subsequent international agreement signed in Geneva in 1923, both of which ban the production, possession, and distribution of pornographic materials. The signatories to these international accords were, of course, the Tsarist Empire and the Soviet Union, and the Apastovsky district attorney says today " s Russian Federation is still bound by these agreements.

We offer these flowers of faith and spiritual feats to our Savior as a sign of thanksgiving and as a petition to sanctify our life and to grant us the joy of Holy Pascha... A willow resembles a man who fasted for a long period, who knelt many times, who made many prostrations and who has inner spiritual beauty,” the Romanian primate expounded.
