The parish is currently facing the " beautiful problem " of outgrowing its present building and is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign towards building a new complex that will continue to enable their growth and spread of the true Orthodox Christian faith. They have produced a wonderful video highlighting their strengths and needs. To donate visit their parish website . Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Christian Church 11 ноября 2016 г. Peter and Paul for 6 weeks as I was a Lutheran looking to convert to Orthodox Christianity. Yes, the church is crowded and the children run around--which makes it hard to pay attention to the service. It is not nearly as nice and organized as the video depicts. If you are interested in following Antiochian Orthodoxy exactly how Fr. Justin views it, then this is your church. If you want your individual needs met and your individual circumstances taken into account, then this is not your church. Interesting, that the video shows all of the homeless removed from the front lawn of the church where they are usually encamped. Yes, they do need a larger church. This is a Russian website so you should know that there is a Russian Orthodox church, St. George Russian Orthodox, in a nearby city, West Jordan. They greatly need your support, too, including financially. It is there that I was ultimately baptised into the Orthodox Church. Fr. Michael will address your individual needs and give you his time when you request it. The services are beautiful and the parents mind their children. It is a wonderful Orthodox community. He journeyed to Selingin on the Chinese border but was refused entry into China due to his ecclesiastical status. He spent three years in limbo and deprivation in Selingin until he was named as first bishop of the new Diocese of Irkutsk and Nerchinsk in 1727. Now the St. Innocent of Irkutsk Brotherhood and the Hong Kong parish of Sts. Peter and Paul hope to acquaint Chinese Orthodox Christians with the life and labors of this holy hierarch, reports. Pravoslavie.fm . “The Life of St. Innocent for China” aims to expand the base of Orthodox literature in the Chinese language and to facilitate the revival of the Chinese Autonomous Orthodox Church to which the Russian Orthodox Church is currently dedicating much effort. The brotherhood and parish believe the life of this missionary who was originally sent to preach in China, but then moved to the largest Siberian diocese could strike a chord in the hearts of Chinese Orthodox Christians. A fundraising site has been established to finance the translation and distribution of St. Innocent’s life. The Hong Kong parish earlier published a prayer book and a Book of Hours in Chinese, which proved to be very popular. 6 февраля 2017 г. Schismatics storm UOC church, breaking Royal Doors Moscow, May 17, 2017 Photo: church.ua      On the evening of May 15, priests of the schismatic “Kiev Patriarchate” with about 20 supporters broke into Sts. Peter and Paul Church in the village of Kynakhivtsi in the Ternopil region, and began to celebrate a service, reports the Information Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The schismatics broke into the altar through the sacristy, and, breaking the Royal Gates, entered the church and began to pray. Parish rector Fr. Vitaly Gurev tried to stop the seizure of the church, but the “Kiev Patriarchate” supporters pushed the priest from the church porch and threw him down the stairs. The facts of the violation were recorded in a police statement. Having arrived at the scene, the police officers did not release the church from the schismatics, inasmuch as they appealed to the decision of the Ternopil regional administration chairman Stepan Barni about the re-registration of the Sts. Peter and Paul parish charter, forcing it under the jurisdiction of the “Kiev Patriarchate.” The faithful of Sts. Peter and Paul were earlier forced to spend the night in their parish in February, on the eve of Great Lent, to protect it from the radicals attempting to take it at that time. The faithful of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church are outraged at the explicit neglect of their rights to decide the fate of their own parish, since a decision was made by strangers a few months ago at the local village club. “Kiev Patriarchate” supporters are blocking the entrance to the church, not allowing the rightful owners—the parishioners and clergy—to enter. Right-wing radicals from the “Freedom” party captured another church the next day, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists . At around 3:00 PM, right-wing forces, headed by the deputy of the regional council Viktor Burlik, captured Holy Dormition Church in the village of Zoryane in the Khmel " nyts " ka region. The “Freedom” representatives brought a priest of the “Kiev Patriarchate” who was given the keys to the church. The police were present at the seizure, having learned of it a half-hour beforehand, but did nothing to stop the attack. The radicals shouted threats and insults at the canonical priest and parishioners, although the situation never came to blows. The parishioners of the church intend to appeal to the police and to the courts about the illegal actions of the “Kiev Patriarchate” supporters. 17 мая 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Смотри также Комментарии Подпишитесь на рассылку Православие.Ru Рассылка выходит два раза в неделю: Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Over 3,000 Lugansk residents receive humanitarian aid Moscow, February 22, 2015 On February 17, 2015, the second visit of staff workers of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry to the Lugansk Diocese came to an end, reports Patriarchia.ru . 3,500 food hampers were purchased with Church funds and handed over to the needy. The total weight of the humanitarian aid was 16 tons.      On February 15 delivery of food hampers was organized at the Church of Sts. Constantine and Helen in the Yubileiny village (a suburb of Lugansk). Before the beginning of the military operations Yubileiny had 12,000 residents but today there are only 4-5 thousand residents. Within one day workers of the Synodal Department together with the church rector, Priest Gennady Kravchuk, and the parishioners, delivered 650 food hampers to local residents. “As was the case with our first visit late in December 2014, we saw there very many people who were in need of basic things: food, means of hygiene, medicines… Many of them, not concealing their tears, thanked us for the aid which, according to them, they had received for the first time since the beginning of the conflict,” said Alexei Shashkov, a staff worker of the Synodal Department for Charity. He has also reported that a charity dining-room was arranged at the Church of Sts. Constantine and Helen where 350-400 people receive food daily. The Shakhtinsk Diocese’s Department for Social Ministry took part in purchase and delivery of the aid. The total sum of 3,500 food hampers was 1 347,500 rubles. Each hamper contained flour, rice, tinned fish and meat, pasta, vegetable oil, condensed milk, green peas and tea. The larger part of the hampers was handed over to 20 Lugansk churches: the food was distributed among 2,500 particularly needy parishioners according to a pre-arranged list.      The Church representatives also visited families with gravely ill people as well as families with many children and rendered aid to them. “Some of them are living in terrible conditions. For example, a family of 17 people is cooped up in a two-room apartment,” A. Shashkov related. The Synodal Department for Charity and Social Ministry intends to continue delivering humanitarian aid to the Lugansk and Donetsk Dioceses. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill has also instructed churches throughout Russia to announce at services the collection of monetary donations for the people of Donbass and refugees from the region currently sheltered in Russia. 22 февраля 2015 г. One finds a similar tendency when comparing the relics located in other Constantinopolitan shrines noted by the westerners with those noted by the Russians (and the lone Armenian who has left us a catalog from this period). Besides the passion relics, the western visitors mention only the “stone of anointment”, the column of the flagellation, two arms of John the Baptist, the body of Gregory Nazianzen, the tombs of Chrysostom and Constantine the Great, and the procession of the Hodegetria icon. Strangely, they pay no notice to the robe and girdle of the Virgin preserved at Blachernae for centuries (because these same relics were by then also reported in the West?) 1087 , the miraculous healing spring at Christ Φιλνθρωπος 1088 (were Westerners not given to accept contemporary marks of divine favor among the “schismatic” Byzantines?). Perhaps less surprisingly, there is no mention of major relics of saints much more popular in Eastern Christianity than in the Western church: the bodies of the early martyrs Sts. Spiridon and Polyeuctus 1089 , the body of St. Theodosia, martyr under iconoclasm 1090 , the relics of Sts. Florus, Laurus and James the Persian 1091 , the heads of the “holy unmercenaries” Cosmas and Damian 1092 , nor, interestingly, the column at which Peter wept after betraying Christ 1093 (a possible embarrassment to the successor of St. Peter in Rome?). The pattern, then, is not dissimilar to what one finds ca. 1200 with the smaller sample of visitor records. There are a number of Christian relics that are highly regarded by Christians from all over the world (mostly relics connected with personages of the Old and New Testaments, but also relics connected with well known figures of the early centuries of Christianity, such as John Chrysostom and Emperor Constantine). But there are sacred objects much more venerated not only in the Russian Church, but (so the Armenian Anonymus suggests) in the Eastern Church in general, particularly wonderworking images, sites of sacred apparitions known from Byzantine ecclesiastical writings, relics of early martyrs of Eastern Christianity and of figures connected with the struggle to preserve image veneration in the Byzantine world. Cossacks from the Maryinskaya Stanitsa Association, Cossacks from the Stavropavlovskaya stanitsa along with parishioners of churches of the Novopavlovsk Deanery came to commemorate the memory of the saint whose name is inseparably linked to the blessed Caucasus. The service was celebrated before the icon of Hieromartyr Thaddeus of Tver, with a small portion of his holy relics, at the very same hour as the holy hierarch was cruelly murdered back in 1937. After the post-communion verse the speech of St. Thaddeus which the archpastor had delivered during the consecration of the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in the Novopavlovskaya stanitsa in November 1916 was read. After the Divine Liturgy (at which many of the worshippers took Holy Communion) the clergy sang the glorification before the icon of St. Thaddeus. Then all the faithful and clergy were invited to the meal prepared by local Cossacks. After that, a sermon by the famous Moscow cleric Archpriest Andrei Tkachev, dedicated to the podvig of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, was watched and discussed. The night Liturgies commemorating the martyrdom of Holy Hierarch Thaddeus of Tver were served at churches of the deanery already for the third time. On December 13, 2013, Archbishop Theophylact of Pyatigorsk and Cherkessk delivered the reliquary with a portion of relics of Hieromartyr Thaddeus to the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Novopavlovsk. Venerable Ioane of Shavta, Bishop of Gaenati, and Evlogi the Prophet and Fool-for-Christ (13th century) Memory 1 (14) April Sts. Ioane of Shavta and Evlogi the Prophet and Fool-for-Christ. Sts. Ioane of Shavta and Evlogi the Prophet and Fool-for-Christ. The great Georgian hymnographer, philosopher, and orator St. Ioane of Shavta labored in the 12th and 13th centuries, during the reign of the holy queen Tamar. Few details of his life have been preserved, but we know that he received his education at Gelati Academy, where he studied theology, ancient and Arabic history, philosophy, and literature. He was later tonsured a monk and labored at Vardzia Monastery. When the Georgian army under the command of Queen Tamar’s husband, Davit Soslan, entered into battle with the sultan Rukn al-Din, Queen Tamar journeyed to Odzrkhe Monastery to pray for help. Catholicos Tevdore of Kartli and many hierarchs and monastics accompanied her there. Among them, St. Ioane of Shavta stood out as a wise theologian and philosopher and a brilliant hymnographer. During the Liturgy at Odzrkhe Monastery a miracle occurred: endowed by God with the gift of prophecy, St. Evlogi the Fool for-Christ fell to his knees, lifted his hands to the heavens and cried out: “Glory to God! Almighty Christ!…Do not fear the Persians, but rather depart in peace, for the mercy of God has descended upon the house of Tamar!” Evlogi’s words were clearly a divine revelation. St. Ioane of Shavta turned to Queen Tamar, rejoicing, “Your Highness! The Almighty has made known to us our victory in the war from the lips of a fool-for-Christ!” Evlogi confided his secret to St. Ioane: disguised as a fool, he had been concealing his God-given gift. But now it seemed that the gift would become apparent to all, so Evlogi quickly disappeared out of sight to escape the people’s attention. St. Ioane of Shavta composed his “Hymns to the Theotokos of Vardzia” in thanksgiving for Georgia’s victory in the Battle of Basiani. He is also recognized as the composer of “Abdul-Messiah,” a famous ode to the holy queen Tamar. Our Holy Father Ioane of Shavta lived to an advanced age and was canonized soon after his repose. O most honorable Holy Hierarch Ioane of Shavta and divinely-robed Evlogi the Fool-for-Christ, pray to God for the peace and perfection of our bodies and souls, and enable us to glorify His loving-kindness! The Battle of Basiani (ca. 1203). Abdul-Messiah: servant of Christ. Italy is home to Russian Orthodox Church’s fastest growing foreign diocese Moscow, February 10, 2017 Photo: Beth Dunham/Static1.squarespace.com The head of the administration for Moscow Patriarchate churches abroad Bishop Anthony of Bogorodsk stated in a recent interview with TASS that the Russian Orthodox Church has nearly 900 parishes in foreign countries, the greatest number of which are in Germany and Italy. While the number of parishes in Germany outnumbers those in Italy, “[t]he second largest eparchy abroad of the Russian Orthodox Church is located in Italy. There are nearly seventy parishes and their number is steadily growing,” according to Bp. Anthony, who formally served five years as a parish rector in Italy. “It is one of the most dynamically developing regions from the point of view of our presence in Western Europe... I am continuing to work with our Church affairs in the Apennine Mountains,” which run 750 miles along the length of Italy, the hierarch said. Meanwhile, His Grace noted that the Sts. Peter and Paul Russian podvoriye parish in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic “is one of the most remarkable Russian churches abroad.” Bishop Anthony spoke with TASS upon arriving in the Czech Republic to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the registration of the Russian parish, emphasizing the integral role of Russian priests serving in the Czech Republic in the nation’s Orthodox spirituality. “Our community here is constantly growing. There have been some momentous events, such as the building of the large, spacious, beautiful Russian Orthodox Church of St. Lyudmila at the Russian embassy in Prague. We also purchased a building for the needs of the Sts. Peter and Paul church and the needs of our spiritual-cultural center in Karlovy Vary,” Vladyka said. Bishop Anthony was recently appointed to his position as head of foreign parishes. Having noted the special importance of Russian churches in the Czech Republic, “one of my first visits in my new capacity was precisely to here,” he said. 10 февраля 2017 г.
