Participating in the meeting was also Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, secretary for the far abroad of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations. The head of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Moscow conveyed to Patriarch Kirill a message of greeting from the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Mr. Raul Castro, and the Chairman of the State Council and Council of Ministers, Mr. Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez. Mr. Gerardo Peñalver Portal also reminded the patriarch that the 19th of October would mark the 10thanniversary of the opening of an Orthodox church in Havana, which was consecrated by Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, now Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. ‘This church has become a symbol of friendship between Russia and Cuba, for the people of Cuba respect Russia very much’, he said. Patriarch Kirill thanked the Cuban ambassador for the greetings, noting that the Russian Orthodox Church built in Havana is ‘a symbol that does not erode with time, for it reflects eternal values’. ‘It is very important. The political climate may change, many things may change in the world, but spiritual ties between peoples always continue’. I believe that the appearance of a Russian Orthodox church in Cuba, where Russian Orthodox people live as well, has opened a new page in our relations’, His Holiness said. In the course of the further talk, which was held in a warm atmosphere, various aspects of the history of close relations between the people of Russia and Cuba were discussed. Archive Serbian Orthodox Church Bishops’ Council expresses its position on situation resulting from Patriarchate of Constantinople’s actions in Ukraine 13 November 2018 year 11:51 The position taken by the Serbian Orthodox Church with regard to the church crisis in Ukraine caused by the recent decisions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople has been formulated by the Bishops’ Council which took place on November 6-7, 2018, in Belgrade.  As is known, by its decisions of October 11 the Patriarchate of Constantinople ‘revoked’ the decision made over 300 years ago to transfer the Metropolitan of Kiev to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate thus encroaching on the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church. In addition, in defiance of the canonical order, the Synod of the Church of Constantinople has admitted to communion the leaders of the Ukrainian schism and declared its readiness to implement a project ‘for Ukrainian autocephaly’. The Bishops Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church stated with regret that ‘the Patriarchate of Constantinople has made a decision not grounded on canons to rehabilitate and recognize as bishops the two chiefs of the schismatic groups in Ukraine – Philaret Denisenko and Makariy Maletich with their episcopate and clergy’. It is pointed out in the council’s decision that in due time the former was canonically deposed and later anathematized and the latter was deprived of the apostolic continuity as spiritually belonging to the sect of the so-called self-ordained ministers ‘due to which the Sacred Council of Bishops’ regards this decision of the Synod of Constantinople as not obligatory for the Serbian Orthodox Church’. As it is pointed out in the issued document, the Council of the Serbian Church does not recognize the above-mentioned persons and their followers as Orthodox bishops and clergy and therefore does not accept the liturgical and canonical communion with them and their supporters. The Council addressed the Patriarchate of Constantinople and all the rest Local Churches with a proposal to consider in the nearest future the issue of autocephaly and the topic of Orthodox Diaspora at a Pan-Orthodox Council ‘in order to reaffirm and strengthen the conciliarity and unity of the Orthodox Church and to avoid in the future the temptation through which Holy Orthodoxy is going now’. Over 3,000 Lugansk residents receive humanitarian aid Moscow, February 22, 2015 On February 17, 2015, the second visit of staff workers of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry to the Lugansk Diocese came to an end, reports Patriarchia.ru . 3,500 food hampers were purchased with Church funds and handed over to the needy. The total weight of the humanitarian aid was 16 tons.      On February 15 delivery of food hampers was organized at the Church of Sts. Constantine and Helen in the Yubileiny village (a suburb of Lugansk). Before the beginning of the military operations Yubileiny had 12,000 residents but today there are only 4-5 thousand residents. Within one day workers of the Synodal Department together with the church rector, Priest Gennady Kravchuk, and the parishioners, delivered 650 food hampers to local residents. “As was the case with our first visit late in December 2014, we saw there very many people who were in need of basic things: food, means of hygiene, medicines… Many of them, not concealing their tears, thanked us for the aid which, according to them, they had received for the first time since the beginning of the conflict,” said Alexei Shashkov, a staff worker of the Synodal Department for Charity. He has also reported that a charity dining-room was arranged at the Church of Sts. Constantine and Helen where 350-400 people receive food daily. The Shakhtinsk Diocese’s Department for Social Ministry took part in purchase and delivery of the aid. The total sum of 3,500 food hampers was 1 347,500 rubles. Each hamper contained flour, rice, tinned fish and meat, pasta, vegetable oil, condensed milk, green peas and tea. The larger part of the hampers was handed over to 20 Lugansk churches: the food was distributed among 2,500 particularly needy parishioners according to a pre-arranged list.      The Church representatives also visited families with gravely ill people as well as families with many children and rendered aid to them. “Some of them are living in terrible conditions. For example, a family of 17 people is cooped up in a two-room apartment,” A. Shashkov related. The Synodal Department for Charity and Social Ministry intends to continue delivering humanitarian aid to the Lugansk and Donetsk Dioceses. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill has also instructed churches throughout Russia to announce at services the collection of monetary donations for the people of Donbass and refugees from the region currently sheltered in Russia. 22 февраля 2015 г. Patriarchate of Alexandria to restore deaconess ministry November 21, 2016 Photo: http://www.pravoslavie.ru/98787.html      The Alexandrian Orthodox Church intends to restore the institution of deaconesses which existed in the early centuries of the Orthodox Church, as reported on the patriarchate’s official website . Under the chairmanship of Patriarch Theodoros II the Holy Synod of the Alexandrian Church reviewed the issue at their November 16 session, with a report being offered by Metropolitan Gregory of Cameroon in which he highlighted the missionary focus of the deaconess ministry. His report was followed by a detailed discussion of the issue. Having decided to restore the institution, the Alexandrian synod formed a three-bishop committee for thoroughly studying the issue. What functions, including liturgical, if any, will be entrusted to the new deaconesses remains to be seen. 21 ноября 2016 г. John May 23 ноября 2016, 02:00 Could a statement be filled with more " social justice " i.e. cultural Marxist rhetoric? This makes mr worried that Deaconesses in the Church will not even take their Traditional role (which seems unnecessary, even in Africa, in this day in age), but that the Church of Alexandria is succumbing to feminism and will re-write history and women " s role in Church (I pray that I am wrong, but if the statement is a reflection of their intentions, then I don " t know)... Attack on a priest in Kiev—the Ukraine " s Internal Affairs Ministry considers a political version/Православие.Ru Attack on a priest in Kiev—the Ukraine " s Internal Affairs Ministry considers a political version Kiev, July 27, 2015 Investigators are considering a political motive as one of the versions of attack on Priest Roman Nikolayev, cleric of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, in Kiev, reports RIA-Novosti with the reference to the Vesti Ukrainian newspaper.      “In the evening two unidentified people attacked R. Nikolayev at the entrance of the block of flats where he lives. One of the culprits shot him in the head. After that both of them fled the scene of the crime. The unconscious priest was found by his neighbor,” the Kiev police’s press service related. A criminal case was opened regarding the attack, under the article, “Intentional murder” of the Penal Code. According to the chief of the Kiev police Alexander Tereshchuk, the investigation is considering two versions: a mugging or an attack driven by political motives. None of the versions have yet been confirmed. “According to the preliminary information, nothing was stolen from him, therefore, I do not believe it was a hold-up or just an incident. When criminals wait for someone at the entrance of a block of flats and then twice shoot in their victim in the head, it is in no way an accident,” Bishop Clement, head of the UOC MP’s Information Department, has commented. 28 июля 2015 г. 2595 Orello Cone, рассуждая в этом тоне (Paul, р. 20), находит здесь свидетельство крайней нетерпимости Апостола к своим противникам, ибо «this is the climax of an odium theologicum which is not softened by a touch of sympathy or consideration for an opponent’s point of view» (p. 31), поскольку «in the climax of his invective he charges «the false apostles», «who transform themselves into ministers of Christ», with being ministers of Satan, «transformed as the ministers oi righteousness " » (p. 124). 2596 Ср. еще J. Patriarch Kirill calls to stop bloodshed in Syria immediately/Православие.Ru Patriarch Kirill calls to stop bloodshed in Syria immediately Moscow, May 22, 2013 Speaking at the receipt on the occasion of the feast of Easter, his Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia stated that violence of Christians " rights worldwide has become systematic, varying from direct physical violence in Syria and other countries to prohibition of Christian symbols and exclusion of Christian presence to the margins of social life throughout the World. " Today the World community is experiencing not a very good time. Celebrating the feast of Christ " s Resurrection solemnly, we must not forget that many of our brothers and sisters in Christ have not been able to join us in this universal joy because every day they are becoming victims of violence and aggression from militant extremists, " said Patriarch Kirill in his speech during the Paschal reception in the Foreign Affairs Ministry. " In spite of all efforts, the Syrian Hierarchs: Orthodox Metropolitan Paul of Aleppo and Alexandretta and Syriac Metropolitan Mar Grigorios Yohanna Ibrahim who were kidnapped on April 24 this year, are still in the hands of militants, " he added. According to Patriarch Kirill, the number of acts of violence against Christians of Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan and a number of other countries has considerably increased for last year; in Egypt and Libya, radicals’ oppression against the Christian minority has also forced minority representatives leave their homes; but the most acute situation is forming today in Syria. " Today " s news of persecutions of Christians is received with sorrow of heart. Violations of Christians " rights have obtained various forms: from direct violence to prohibition of Christian symbols and pushing the Christian presence to the margins of social life, " stressed the Patriarch. " At this difficult time we are calling on all the world community not to remain indifferent to this lawlessness. It is necessary to apply all efforts in order to stop the bloodshed immediately, to maintain open public dialogue aimed at protection of peace and stability, to prevent terrorist threats and religious discriminations, " concluded Patriarch Kirill.
