Patriarch Kirill serves a Liturgy at Butovo Moscow, May 11, 2014      On May 10, 2014, the day before the Synaxis of the New Martyrs of Butovo, which is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday of Easter, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia served a Divine Liturgy in the open air near the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church at the Butovo firing range—the site of mass executions by a firing squad and burial of victims of the political persecutions, including many clergymen and laypeople, now venerated as New Martyrs, reports Patriarchia.ru .      Abbesses and nuns of convents, pilgrims from Moscow and the Moscow region prayed at the Liturgy. Among those worshipping at the Liturgy was leader of the Socialist People " s Party of Montenegro Srdjan Milic, who had arrived to Russia with an official visit for the Victory Day celebrations.      The choir of St. Tikhon " s Orthodox University sang under the direction of T.I. Koroleva. At the Litany of the Fervent Supplication Petitions prayers were made for the repose of the souls of the " ever-memorable servants of God, hierarchs, priests, monastics and laypeople who underwent dread sufferings and torments for the faith and truth in the harsh years of persecution of the Church of Christ, and whose lives ended in martyrdom in this place; only Thou, O Lord, knowest their names " . A sermon before Holy Communion was delivered by Bishop Roman of Serpukhov.      After Communion a short conversation between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and Srdjan Milic took place. The Patriarch greeted the guest from Montenegro, particularly stressing significance of maintaining Church unity in Montenegro for the prosperity of the Montenegrin people.      After the Liturgy Patriarch Kirill performed a prayer service to the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church and a litia for repose of all those killed and buried at the Butovo firing range.      Rector of the Church at the Butovo firing range Archpriest Kirill Kaleda greeted the head of the Russian Church and presented His Holiness with Easter vestments prepared as a gift. Holy Martyrs Killed by the Latins at the Iveron Monastery on Mt. Athos (13th century) Memory 13 (26) May Holy Martyrs of Iveron Monastery. Holy Martyrs of Iveron Monastery. Georgian monks began to settle on Mt. Athos in the middle of the 10th century, and a Georgian monastery, Iveron, was founded there not long after. At that time foreign armies were constantly invading Mt. Athos. In the 13th century the Crusaders stormed through the region, and between 1259 and 1306 the pope’s private army devastated Mt. Athos several times. Monks of Zographou and Vatopedi monasteries and the Protaton were martyred for the Orthodox Faith, and the monks of the Iveron Monastery eventually met the same fate. During this period Georgian and Greek ascetics labored together at the Iveron Monastery, and many young ascetics of the new generation began to arrive from Georgia. The Crusaders demanded that the Iveron monks convert to Catholicism and acknowledge the primacy of the Roman pope. But the monks condemned their fallacies and anathematized the doctrine of the Catholics. According to the Patericon of Athos, the Iveron monks were forcibly expelled from their monastery. Nearly two hundred elderly monks were goaded like animals onto a ship that was subsequently sunk in the depths of the sea. The younger, healthier monks were deported to Italy and sold as slaves to the Jews. Some sources claim this tragedy took place in the year 1259, while others record that the Georgian monks of the Holy Mountain were subject to the Latin persecutions over the course of four years, from 1276 to 1280. O Holy Martyrs, killed by the Latins at the Iveron Monastery on Mt. Athos, we praise your holy contest and entreat you: Protect us and help us to stand fast in the Orthodox Faith! The Relics of St Innocent of Irkutsk Will be Brought to Australia on the Feast of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia February 3, 2012 With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York and His Eminence Metropolitan Vadim of Irkutsk and Angara, the relics of St Innocent of Irkutsk will be brought to SS Peter and Paul Cathedral in Sydney on February 5, 2012, the feast day of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia. The reliquary will be brought by Protopriest Evgeny Startsev and other clergymen of the Moscow Patriarchate. The overwhelming majority of the flock of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia are from Harbin, Shanghai, Zabaikal and Trekhrechie and their descendants. St Innocent was the first bishop of the Russian Church assigned to China. In 1721, he was consecrated bishop of Pereyaslavl and assigned Head of the Chinese Ecclesiastical Mission, which was intended to tend to the descendants of the Cossacks taken prisoner by the Chinese who retained their Orthodox faith, the so-called Albazin Christians. But the saint never reached China. In the ukase addressed to the Chinese government regarding his appointment, they carelessly called him “Grand Lord,” but since this was the title of the Chinese Emperor, he was refused entry. St Innocent then stayed temporarily in the city of Seleginsk, in the Zabaikal region, but as soon as it was discovered that he was refused entry to China, his wages were suspended. He lived with his entourage, moving from house to house, soon opening an icon-painting studio, while his aides caught fish to survive and even begged for alms. In 1722, he was appointed Bishop of Irkutsk. The reliquary will be offered for veneration in the churches of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand until February 19. He journeyed to Selingin on the Chinese border but was refused entry into China due to his ecclesiastical status. He spent three years in limbo and deprivation in Selingin until he was named as first bishop of the new Diocese of Irkutsk and Nerchinsk in 1727. Now the St. Innocent of Irkutsk Brotherhood and the Hong Kong parish of Sts. Peter and Paul hope to acquaint Chinese Orthodox Christians with the life and labors of this holy hierarch, reports. Pravoslavie.fm . “The Life of St. Innocent for China” aims to expand the base of Orthodox literature in the Chinese language and to facilitate the revival of the Chinese Autonomous Orthodox Church to which the Russian Orthodox Church is currently dedicating much effort. The brotherhood and parish believe the life of this missionary who was originally sent to preach in China, but then moved to the largest Siberian diocese could strike a chord in the hearts of Chinese Orthodox Christians. A fundraising site has been established to finance the translation and distribution of St. Innocent’s life. The Hong Kong parish earlier published a prayer book and a Book of Hours in Chinese, which proved to be very popular. 6 февраля 2017 г. Widows Tell the Tale of India’s New Christian Martyrs/Православие.Ru Widows Tell the Tale of India’s New Christian Martyrs Bhubaneswar, India, July 28, 2015 Five Christian widows who lost their husbands amid the mayhem that broke out in August, 2008, when the assassination of a local Hindu leader was blamed on the Christian minority told the stories of their husbands " murders to Crux.      In the galaxy of contemporary anti-Christian persecution, the martyrs of Kandhamal in India hold a special place, and not just because statistically they died amid the worst outbreak of violence specifically directed at Christians so far in the 21st century. The manner in which many of these Christians lost their lives, almost all of whom come from the Indian caste once considered “untouchable,” was almost unimaginably grotesque—violence more at home in the Bible or early Christian martyrology, seemingly, than the here-and-now. On Monday, Crux sat down with five Christian widows who lost their husbands amid the mayhem that broke out in August, 2008, when the assassination of a local Hindu leader was blamed on the Christian minority. By all accounts, the pogroms were instigated by radical Hindu activists seeking to eliminate the Christian presence from the area. The interview with the widows took place in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha state (formerly known as Orissa), where the killing occurred, and was organized by the Global Council of Indian Christians, an advocacy and relief group for Christian victims of religious persecution. These are their stories about their husbands’ murders. Kanaka Rekha Nayak      Parikhit Nayak Parikhit Nayak was killed on Aug. 27, 2008, after spending two days hiding with his wife and their two children in a forest near their village of Tiangia Budedipade. He was a Baptist, and his tribal neighbors wanted to force him to deny his faith and embrace Hinduism. Weeping as she spoke, his wife, Kanaka Rekha Nayak, 35, recounted the desperation she felt when she saw her husband dragged for almost a mile with a bicycle chain around his neck, as she tried to both be with him and to protect their two-year-old son, Bennie.

For centenary of revolution Church calls to immortalize those who suffered for faith in Soviet years Moscow, April 26, 2017 Photo: http://russia-insider.com      Especially in this year of the centenary of the tragic Russian revolution, it is necessary to venerate the memory of and erect monuments to the New Martyrs persecuted for the Faith in the atheist Soviet years, and name streets in their honor, believes the head of Synodal Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), reports Interfax-Religion . “That’s who we ought to erect monuments to, and whose names we ought to give to streets and squares, instead of artificially maintaining reverence for torturers, terrorists, and murderers, immortalized in the names of the squares and streets of many cities of our great Russia,” the metropolitan said on Wednesday in St. Petersburg at a plenary session dedicated to contemplating the events of 1917. He noted that tens of thousands of clergy and millions of laity were victims of repressions, just in the 1930s. 136,900 Orthodox clergymen suffered repression in 1937, 85,300 of them being executed. In 1938, 28,300 were arrested, and 21,500 executed. “The total number of believers who suffered in the years of persecution is known to God alone,” Met. Hilarion said. According to him, by 1939, only about 100 out of more than 60,000 churches that had been active in 1917 were still open. Only four ruling bishops remained free. As he noted, more than 1,760 New Martyrs and Confessors have been officially glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church, and noted that “spiritual blindness” was the main cause of the revolutionary events of 1917. “In the pre-revolutionary period, year after year the truth of God as the foundation of the people’s life was replaced under various influences by human truth. The Gospel principle of love for God and neighbor was replaced with hedonistic and egoistic phantasms. The image of Christ as the ideal for imitation was replaced with rebels and godless figures. The fashionable ideas of the liberal wing became more popular than the Gospel. Debauchery and drunkenness became the norm of life,” he stated.    26 апреля 2017 г. скрыть способы оплаты скрыть способы оплаты Смотри также Комментарии Phillip I Joseph Hanna 30 апреля 2017, 22:15 Barekmor Your Eminence! " The atmosphere in the state is not very conducive for Christians anymore, " said former Father Abraham Kannampala, vicar general of Jagdalpur Diocese. " We feel threatened as we are a small minority. " Mgr. Felix Machado, Bishop of Vasai and President of the Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue in the Federation of Asian Bishops " Conferences, added that Christians have been targeted in the past few years in India because they are being blamed for the alleged decline of Hinduism, and are seen as a threat to India " s national integrity. " The issue of religious freedom in India has become extremely complex in recent years. Several Indian States have enacted anti-conversion laws, measures which effectively limit religious freedom, " Machado added. A major inquiry into the 2008 massacre of nearly 100 Christians in Orissa, India, also released in November, noted that although India " s Christian population has been rising, so has Hindu extremism. The investigation documented the series of events that led to the wave of attacks on Christians in Orissa between August 23-31, 2008, which left close to 100 believers dead, while 300 churches and 6,000 homes were raided and looted. Over the past decade, the Christian population has increased by nearly 16 percent, according to India " s 2011 census, now making up over 28 million people. The Christian Post 16 декабря 2015 г.
