Archive Conference on interfaith and inter-civilizational cooperation takes place in Berlin 20 November 2018 year 15:22 On 19 November 2018, an International Conference on Improving the Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue to Cooperation was held in the German capital.  The participants in the conference were greeted by Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazadeh, chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Caucasus; Mr. Markus Grübel, Member of the Bundestag and Commissioner for Global Freedom of Religion of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany; and Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany. Among those who delivered addresses at the conference were His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria; Metropolitan Gerasim of Zugdidi and Tsaishi (Georgian Orthodox Church); Archbishop Alexander of Baku and Azerbaijan; Bishop Serafim of Bobruysk and Bykhov; Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), vice-chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; as well as other prominent religious leaders, statesmen and public figures from Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA. Bishop Viktor of Baryshevka, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Representation to the International and European Institutions, read out a message of greetings from the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The letter of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, addressed to the organizers and participants of the conference, reads, in particular: “The need to develop the interfaith and inter-civilizational dialogue and cooperation is constantly increasing in today’s world. The world that we live in is becoming a more global space, in which races, religions and cultures are interacting. The developments in one country affect the life of other countries and sometimes even of entire continents. While differing in background, culture and religion, we are getting ever more closely connected with each other. In these new circumstances we, representatives of various religions, should strive to build up our life in dialogue and cooperation.” The concluding documents were adopted at the results of the conference. The meeting was organized by the German-Azerbaijani Forum, the Baku International Centre for Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Cooperation and the Berlin Academy for Cultural Diplomacy. Archive Serbian Orthodox Church Bishops’ Council expresses its position on situation resulting from Patriarchate of Constantinople’s actions in Ukraine 13 November 2018 year 11:51 The position taken by the Serbian Orthodox Church with regard to the church crisis in Ukraine caused by the recent decisions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople has been formulated by the Bishops’ Council which took place on November 6-7, 2018, in Belgrade.  As is known, by its decisions of October 11 the Patriarchate of Constantinople ‘revoked’ the decision made over 300 years ago to transfer the Metropolitan of Kiev to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate thus encroaching on the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church. In addition, in defiance of the canonical order, the Synod of the Church of Constantinople has admitted to communion the leaders of the Ukrainian schism and declared its readiness to implement a project ‘for Ukrainian autocephaly’. The Bishops Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church stated with regret that ‘the Patriarchate of Constantinople has made a decision not grounded on canons to rehabilitate and recognize as bishops the two chiefs of the schismatic groups in Ukraine – Philaret Denisenko and Makariy Maletich with their episcopate and clergy’. It is pointed out in the council’s decision that in due time the former was canonically deposed and later anathematized and the latter was deprived of the apostolic continuity as spiritually belonging to the sect of the so-called self-ordained ministers ‘due to which the Sacred Council of Bishops’ regards this decision of the Synod of Constantinople as not obligatory for the Serbian Orthodox Church’. As it is pointed out in the issued document, the Council of the Serbian Church does not recognize the above-mentioned persons and their followers as Orthodox bishops and clergy and therefore does not accept the liturgical and canonical communion with them and their supporters. The Council addressed the Patriarchate of Constantinople and all the rest Local Churches with a proposal to consider in the nearest future the issue of autocephaly and the topic of Orthodox Diaspora at a Pan-Orthodox Council ‘in order to reaffirm and strengthen the conciliarity and unity of the Orthodox Church and to avoid in the future the temptation through which Holy Orthodoxy is going now’. Archive Пн ‘OCU’ supporters have captured a church of the canonical Church in Lvov 5 April 2023 year 20:46 On April 5, 2023, supporters of the schismatic structure ‘Orthodox Church of Ukraine’ disrupted the divine service at the St. George Cathedral of the city of Lvov, reports the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Information-Education Department. A group of people pretended to hold a meeting of the cathedral’s religious community with the aim to capture this church. The Lvov diocesan administration reported that at 9 am unknown people (about 50 of then) entered the cathedral territory and blocked the entrance to the territory and to the church. Led by Yuriy Kholod, vice-chairman of the Lvov Regional Council, they held a ‘parish meeting’ on the ‘transfer’ of the church community to the ‘OCU’. The gathering was also attended by a ‘priest’ of the ‘diocese’ of Lvov headed by ‘Metropolitan’ Makariy. The ‘OCU’ representatives had already held their ‘thanksgiving’ in the church. The instigators cried out pseudo-patriotic slogans in the cathedral and tried to provoke a violent confrontation. The cameraman who livestreamed the event was led out of the church by the police. The event in the church was also joined by radical rogues. At the diocesan administration, Metropolitan Philaret of Lvov and Galicia met with persons who demanded “to be transferred to the ‘OCU’ or to hand all the property to it”. The capture of the St. George Cathedral in Lvov was commented by Bishop Jacob of Drogobych. His Grace related that the Diocese of Lvov of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church would appeal to court over all that happened around the St. George Cathedral on April 5, 2023. ‘We stand for the settlement of any problem only legally. We are against raids and any violent captures. We are against any settlement of problems by force’, the hierarch stressed. DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 18 апреля 2024 г. Всего лишь несколько проповедей Филарета доступны на английском: Select Sermons of the late Metropolitan of Moscow Philaret, переведенных с русского языка, London, Joseph Masters, 1873 (перевод Е.Ф. Тютчевой); cfr. Choix de Sermons et Discours de S. Ém. Mgr. Philarète, перевод с русского A. Serpinet, 3 vol., Paris, 1866. Cfr. Camille Latreille, Joseph de Maistre et la Papauté, Paris, Hachette, 1906. О Стурдзе cfr. Susini, 3, 82 sv., и Benz, Die Sendung, p. 785 sv. Книга Стурдзы переиздана в его Oeuvres Posthumes, t. 4., Paris, 1860. 198 Книга Мелера «Единство Церкви» была недавно переиздана – EJ.
