Furthermore, there is a serious flaw in labeling the Christians of the Holy Land (as well as Lebanon and Syria) as “Arab Christians”. Any serious historian can quickly affirm that the Arabs who conquered these lands in the seventh century did not embrace Christianity! So, who are these Palestinian Arab-speaking Christians? Did they come to this land after the Arab conquest or were they perhaps already in the Holy Land when the Arabs came? Again, any serious student of history will be able to quickly tell you that these Arab-speaking Palestinian Christians not only are not Arabs, but they are the indigenous inhabitants of the Holy Land who have their roots in Judaism of the first century and the Early Church and were fully christianized in the centuries following the destruction of Jerusalem (and the final expulsion of the Jews from that area by the Romans in 135 AD), and most especially after the visit of St. Helena and the establishment of hundreds of churches and numerous monasteries in the fourth century. In other words, the people of Palestine were mostly Christian when the Arabs arrived in the seventh century. It will be easy to also show, that not only Aramaic (and Hebrew in the Liturgical setting among the Jews) but also Greek were spoken in most places of the Holy Land from the Hellenistic period until the Arab invasion. My point is that modern Jews may rightly claim the Holy Land as their ancestral home, but the indigenous Christians of the Holy Land have been there continually and uninterruptedly and have their roots deep in that land, at least as deep as anyone who claims to be a Jew today. We owe it to these million and a half forgotten Christians who held the Christian Faith through so much adversity to stand up for them, for they are the biggest victims of the unholy, bloody conflict between the Jews and Moslems in the Holy Land. 24 июля 2014 г. They insist that Poland welcome refugees on a voluntary basis, with a preference for Christians. European Union nations are at odds over how to care for tens of thousands of asylum seekers who have come ashore in Italy and Greece after surviving dangerous Mediterranean crossings. Last year, Warsaw granted refugee status to around 200 Syrians, according to Ewa Piechota, spokeswoman for Poland " s Office for Foreigners. She told AFP that initially the state will provide free medical care to the Estera-sponsored asylum-seekers who entered Poland on three-month travel visas. Free language training and help finding jobs will be made available after they gain refugee status. Remembering Shahbaz Bhatti: ‘He inspired minorities to peacefully take back their rights’ Islamabad, March 7, 2012 A candle light vigil held for Shahbaz Bhatti. I believe in Jesus Christ, who gave his own life for us and I am ready to die for a cause. I’m living for my community and I will die to defend their rights. These were the words of late Shahbaz Bhatti that echoed with 3,000-plus members of the minority communities and other supporters, who came en masse from around the country to mark his first death anniversary. They had gathered at the Jinnah Convention Centre on Tuesday for a vigil that was organised by the All Pakistan Minority Alliance (APMA). Remembering the former minorities’ minister who was shot dead in sector I-8 last year, APMA Sargodha Youth Coordinator Farrukh Tanveer Chaudry called him a “revolutionary, who at a time when Pakistanis thought their actions can’t bring any change gave everyone hope”. Chaudhry added, “He proved by example that conviction is a powerful tool for revolution.” Reverend Captain Munawar from Lahore noted that Christians have always been treated as second-class citizens, even though they have worked hard and tried their best towards achieving success for Pakistan. He said, “Christians fought in both wars between India and Pakistan, were active in opening the first colleges (FC College Lahore and Gordon College Rawalpindi), have been long associated with healthcare, and literally clean the streets of Pakistan.” Munawar further said that a Christian has never been found to be associated with terrorist acts in the country, but they still remain disempowered and on the fringe of society. Participants showed approval that Shahbaz’s brother Paul has taken over as chairman and is fulfilling the void left by Shahbaz’s untimely death. Paul Bhatti said, “With Shahbaz’s death, the community felt abandoned and rudderless. We have tried to pick up from where he left off to continue his mission.” He added, “At the beginning, I did not think I could succeed him and was very concerned, but now the concerns are fading away and I am increasingly aware of the importance of this duty.” While talking about the ceremony, Ruby Naeem John told The Express Tribune, “I have never attended such a demonstration before and I think the speakers are very right in demanding that we move out of our comfort zone and peacefully elect leaders who can communicate our needs.” John, a teacher at St Mary’s Academy in Lalazaar, spoke on the importance of education for empowerment especially if the youth are to become the leaders of tomorrow. Fittingly, one of the Shabaz Bhatti Foundation’s main objectives is to fight poverty by promoting education and contributing to interfaith dialogue. Paul Bhatti also shared that a vocational school bearing his brother’s name is in the works. The Express Tribune 7 марта 2012 г. ... Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Armenian Muslims living in Turkey are returning to Christianity Istanbul, May 19, 2015    Armenians living in Turkey – descendants of the Christians who embraced Islam – are returning to the faith of their fathers in great numbers, reports the Linga news portal.      According to the famous Agos Armenian weekly newspaper published in Istanbul, the cases of conversion of Armenian Muslims to Christianity, which are becoming more frequent, indicate that they (Armenians) have preserved their ancestors’ faith deep in their memory. Specifically, it has been reported that on Saturday, May 9, clergy of the Turkish Church of St. Stephen baptized twelve Dersim Armenians. The latter, having learned about their true origin, accepted the Gospel message at once. Also most of the newly-baptized who joined the Armenian Church have decided to bless their family life by the sacrament of a Church wedding. In the experts’ view, this event is just one example of a large number of conversions of Turkish Armenians’ descendants from Islam to Christianity: thus, Dr. Georgette Avakian in her interview with the portal noted that “descendants of the Armenians who were forcibly converted to the faith of Prophet Muhammad have started realizing the significance of their nation’s history, and now they are returning by the dozens to their ancestral faith in Christ the Savior”. “There are many such examples. One case of particular resonance recently took place in Jerusalem, when a group of Turkish Muslims of Armenian origin came to the Holy Land in order to be baptized there in the Metropolis of the Armenian Apostolic Church. And that they fearlessly announced this in public is already extremely significant,” Avakian said in conclusion. W.Norris Clarke, S.J., Professor Emeritus at Fordham University and Thomist scholar, has suggested that views about controlled breathing expressed by Pseudo-Dionysius may have been influenced by the Hindu concept of the shakti, or multiple divine energies, and found further elaboration in the theology of Gregory Palamas (12961360). In addition, this concept along with Buddhist concepts of proper breathing and seeing the divine light may also have had an impact on the development of the Palamite form of Hesychasm. The prevailing view in both the Eastern and the Western Churches was that only those things that are created can be perceived by the senses. Therefore, the senses could not perceive the uncreated – that is, God – and anyone who asserted they could perceive God was suspect. This suspicion was raised by Barlaam of Calabria in the 14th century about those Hesychasts like Gregory Palamas who claimed to be able to see the light of the divinity (the light of Mt. Tabor) by repeating the Jesus prayer while observing their navels. This practice of navel watching is similar to and may have derived from the Hindu and Mahayana Buddhist practice of dhyana, or uninterrupted meditation on one point. Not all Hesychasts practiced navel watching or Tabor-light seeking. Gregory of Sinai did not prescribe the focusing on one point while reciting the Jesus prayer or seeking the divine light: It is impossible in our generation to achieve essential spiritual contemplation of the light, to acquire a mind free from wanderings or dreams, the true action of prayer, surging continuously like a fountain from the depths of the heart, the resurrection and ascension of the soul on high, Divine awe, complete ecstasy in spirit, and an angelic rousing of the soul moved by God, since, through many temptations, we are governed nowadays by the tyranny of passions. Nor did Nil Sorskii, who was within the Gregory of Sinai branch of Hesychasm, prescribe focus on one point as is clear from his describing when it was appropriate to recite the Jesus prayer: «И тако глаголи прилжно аще стоя, или сдя, или лежа». That is, the prayer should always be with you no matter what you are doing. Such a formulation is closer to the views of Celtic Christianity of the everyday intertwining of the sacred and profane than to the Tabor-light seeking of the Palamite Hesychasts.

Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord (Isaiah 1:4) . In an anti-Christian incident which has largely gone unnoticed, the St. Charbel (Maar Charbel) Monastery in Bethlehem was attacked and burned down on September 26th. The monastery is located in the Wadi Maali neighborhood of the city where King David was born and is the reputed birthplace of Jesus. As a result of the fire, several rooms on the church’s second floor were completely destroyed. No one was killed or injured. Bishop Moussa El-Haj reported that two days prior to the burning of the monastery, the building was broken into by Palestinian Muslims, and precious items were stolen. Father Gabriel Naddaf, an Arab-Israeli priest of the Greek Orthodox Church, blamed “Palestinian extremists” for burning down the church. Naddaf, an important figure in Israel’s interfaith community, is also a judge in the community’s religious courts, a spokesman for the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and a proponent of recruiting and integrating Arabic-speaking Christians into the IDF, Israeli police and national service institutions. “I condemn with all my heart the laxness of the Palestinian Authority in protecting Christian holy places it controls. I also hope that all the Christian leaders who demonstrated when the Church of Bread and Fishes near Tiberias was burned down will also demonstrate against this terrible act,” Naddaf wrote on Facebook. Christian leaders in Bethlehem joined Naddaf in condemning the Palestinian Authority. The PA, for their part, claimed that the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction. 8 октября 2015 г. 7509 E.g., Brown, John, 1:403; Dahl, «History,» 133; Pancaro, Law, 184; in greater detail, Ackerman, « Psalm 82 ,» 186–87 (citing b. c Abod. Zar. 5a), who also connects this with Jesus as the Word in flesh (1:14); Mielcarek, «Interpretacja» (after surveying various options). 7510 Cf. Neyrey, «Gods.» Greeks also freely reapplied older lines to different, contemporary characters (e.g., Euripides Medea 332, in Appian C.W. 4.17.130). 7511 E.g., Albright, Yahweh, 191–92; Gordon, « Psalm 82 ,» 130. Some commentators see here gods of other nations demoted to mortal status for misbehavior (Bright, History, 158). Salters, « Psalm 82 ,» suggests that the LXX preserves the original picture of God with his divine court but other Greek versions modified it to avoid polytheistic readings. 7513 Stauffer, Jesus, 97, thinks the psalm addressed the religious authorities and Jesus thus contrasts himself with Israel " s current rulers; but this interpretation may demand too much of John " s audience. 7514 On this passage, e.g., Hunter, John, 108; Cadman, Heaven, 120; Longenecker, Christology, 99; Longenecker, Exegesis, 69; Ellis, Genius, 174; Homey, «Gods.» 7524 See comment on the introduction to 10:22. See also Davies, Land, 295–96; Tobit 1:4. Naturally, no text presents Jesus needing to be «purified» before a feast (11:55). 7527 Often in blessings, e.g., t. Ber. 5:22; 6:9–10, 13–14; p. Sukkah 3:4, §3. They were sanctified through having been separated from idolatry (Sipra Qed. pq. 10.208.1.2). 7528         Sipre Deut. 25.6.1. The reverse argument appears in Sipre Deut. 309.2.1: if Israel forgot his works in Egypt, they should at least remember his promises for the coming world. Greeks could also speak of God " s character revealed through his works (Heraclitus Ep. 4). 7530 See comment on 8:59. One would expect a claim of invisibility rather than escape to be more explicit because more dramatic; hence it is not likely in view here (pace Smith, Magician, 120). R. Т. France Дополнительная литература Green J. В. How to Read the Gospels and Acts (IVP, 1987). Hindi film crew arrested for hurting religious sentiments/Православие.Ru Hindi film crew arrested for hurting religious sentiments December 9, 2011 The Mumbai Police last week arrested the director, producer and publicist of Hindi movie " Who " s There " for provocative posters that showed the picture of Jesus Christ on the cross being stabbed by a man. The three were arrested on charges ranging from hurting religious sentiments, malicious common intention to insulting religious beliefs and for violations of the Cinematograph Act, reports Christian Today India . After several days of protests by Christian organization, including the Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), the film " s director Ejaz Ahmed, producer Washim Sheikh, and advertising specialist KA Jauhar were arrested and sent to prison. In a country where Christians make up only 2% of the population and are continually the victims of violence from extremist groups, the provocative antichristian film could complicate the situation even further, reports Sedmitza.ru . Christian groups last month had raised objections to the movie " s posters as well as its anti-Christian contents, and had registered a complaint with the Censor Board. " Conviction of the accused should not be difficult as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Film Makers Combine and the Indian Motion Pictures Association (IMPPA) had in their statement to the police said that the offensive advertisements of stabbing Jesus Christ on the Cross were unauthorised, " said Joseph Dias, the head of Mumbai-based Christian group Catholic Secular Forum. " Christian groups had demanded the arrest of the movie makers since they released posters with the caption ‘This Time Evil will Win’, accompanying the blasphemous picture of Jesus and another one with the cross of Jesus upside down, " said Dias. " Not mentioning the category of certification (UA) in the publicity material violates Rule 38 of Cinematograph (Certification) Rules 1983. Non compliance of this rule is a non-bailable offence, " informed Dias. The film, which is scheduled for release on November 18, has been categorized as a horror film. Earlier, in a letter to the Censor Board of Film Certification, the film " s producer Wasim Shaikh apologised and said the team was " taking back the said design from all newspapers and streets " . 10 декабря 2011 г. ...
