His Holiness Patriarch Kirill prays for Metropolitan Onufry and believers in Ukraine Source: DECR Communication Service December 23, 2015      His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in his Christmas interview with the " Russia " TV channel broadcast on December 22 expressed his concern over events in the village of Ptichya and underscored that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was the only force that unites people in Ukraine. " We have sorrowful hearts about the current events in Ukraine as we see these terrifying seizures of churches. In the village of Ptichya in the Rovno region several women and two priests have been sitting in the church for several days and nights without water and food, huddling up to one another for warmth as electricity was switched off while the roaring crowd outside demanded to throw these people out of the church building to give it to another religious group which we call schismatic, " His Holiness said. " This kind of policy further divides the Ukrainian people, and those who do not want to experience anything similar to what happened in the village of Ptichya will fight tooth and nail against the possibility of the authorities coming to take their churches, " the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church explained. According to the patriarch, there is almost no one who works for the sake of unity in Ukraine, in particular referring to those, who, loudly proclaiming thier goals, further the enstrangement of Ukrainians one from another with their actions. " The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is my only hope as she is the confessor that really unites people living in the east, west, north or south of the country, humbly but courageously speaking the truth and steering people to unity, " His Holiness underscored. " I pray for His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry, the bishops, clergy and all the faithful. I believe that Ukraine will hold out and be a prosperous country, peaceful, free of trouble and friendly with its neighbors, " the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church said in conclusion. Archive Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk sums up the Search for Scriptures theological conference 13 November 2021 year 18:26 On November 12, 2021, the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, who is in the USA with a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and at the invitation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada, attended the plenary sessions of the academic-theological conference on “Search for Scriptures”, which took place at St. Vladimir’s Seminary in New York. The conference gathered leading American specialists in the New Testament studies, including Professor Emeritus Carl Holladay, Kendler School of Theology, the Emory University; Professor of Biblical Studies Craig Keenner, Asbury Theological Seminary; Professor of New Testament Studies Gregory Sterling, Yale School of Divinity; Professor Emeritus Edit Humphrey, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary; Prof Garwood Anderson, dean of the Nashotah-House Theological Seminary; Mr John Barnet, Associate Professor at the Chair of the New Testament, St. Vladimir’s Seminary; Associate Professor Bruce Beck, the Holy Cross Seminary in Brooklyn, MA; Prof of Religion and Philosophy James Walles, dean of the Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Ten. Each of the scholars who came to St. Vladimir’s Seminary presented a paper. Many speakers pointed to the importance of dialogue between the Orthodox Church and representatives of the contemporary biblical scholarship, which for the most part ignores the patristic tradition of interpreting Holy Scriptures while in Orthodoxy precisely this tradition is considered normative. Summing up the conference, Metropolitan Hilarion noted that the four canonical Gospels are the main and only sources from which information about the life and teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ should be drawn. Neither the apocryphal Gospels, nor any other “alternative sources” can be perceived as containing reliable information about Him. And the most authoritative interpretations of the Gospels is that which has formed within the Church and has been approved by it. At the same time, Orthodox theologians should not ignore the achievements of contemporary Bible studies in those aspects that do not contradict the Orthodox doctrine. Dialogue between representatives of the Orthodox Church and contemporary biblical scholarship is important for the both sides, Metropolitan Hilarion emphasized. 15,000 believers present at Divine Liturgy on the Feast of Saint Paraskeva of Iai      Other several thousands of believers stood in a three-kilometre line to get to bow down before the relics of Saint Paraskeva and Saint Neophyte the Recluse from Cyprus, Doxologia marketing officer, Ioana Stoian, reports. Photo: http://basilica.ro/en      His Eminence Athanasios, Metropolitan of Limassol (Orthodox Church of Cyprus) presided over the Divine Liturgy. Almost thirty hierarchs from home and abroad concelebrated: Following the gospel reading, His Eminence Athanasios, Metropolitan of Limassol, delivered a homily. Saint Paraskeva and Saint Neophyte are a proof that when man loves Christ, he lacks nothing else. On the contrary, when Christ is absent from the heart, man becomes unhappy, regardless of his belongings. Observing and studying the lives of the saints, we can judge our own lives. We receive a model and example of living, we are quickened by the Spirit, and we can follow them and become lovers of God. Remembering the Saints means following them and imitating them, Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol said. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Archbishop of Târgovite read out the blessing message conveyed by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, to the pilgrims present in Iai. Next, Metropolitan Teofan awarded several families with many children from Romania and the Republic of Moldova the Moldavian Cross . Basilica News Agency 20 октября 2016 г. I would recommend the book " " The mountain of silence " " where the author Kyriakos Markides has a conversation with Mitr. Athanasios (using the pen name Fr Maximos) Note, I do not recommend the author Markides himself, as I find his " " theology " " weird, but what Mitr. Athanasios has to say in the conversation is well worth reading. Many years to Mitr. Athanasios! Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

Current Education Minister is new Nero, bishops of Church of Greece say Athens, October 3, 2016      Metropolitan Paul of Sisanion and Siatista has compared the behavior of the current Greek Education Minister with that of the notorious Roman Emperor Nero: “Nero set Rome on fire and accused Christians of this crime so as to avoid the people’s wrath. Likewise, Mr. Nikos Filis, who holds the primary responsibility for society’s moral degradation is accusing the Orthodox Church of everything,” reports AgionOros.ru . The hierarch of the Church of Greece has supported His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece who refused to meet with N. Filis: “It is necessary to bring it to the head of government’s notice that the Minister has lost credit with the Church.” Metropolitan Anthony has accused the authorities of the unwillingness to build the relations with the Church on the basis of equality, within the framework laid out in the Constitution of Greece: “What does cooperation mean to you? ‘I speak and you just listen to me?’” The Education Minister’s bias has really displeased the hierarch: “He (Nikos Filis) has asked Jews, Muslims and Catholics to work out the curricula for the religious studies courses and to choose teachers for their own children; but he has deprived Orthodox Christians of this right.” In Metropolitan Anthony’s view, the minister’s true goal is to sow doubts in faith into Orthodox children’s hearts by means of specially devised curricula. Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus has expressed his opinion that a specific project aimed at “changing the religious identity” of Greeks is gradually being implemented. According to the metropolitan, Greeks must not “accept pseudo-multiculturalism whose genuine task is to make all people the same and to take our freedom.” The archpastor has stressed that there are attempts to prevent Greeks from passing on the national ideals, which form the Greek identity, from generation to generation and to turn the people into “a faceless mass.” Translated by Dmitry Lapa Pravoslavie.ru 4 октября 2016 г. The SMPAC advises the Office of Review of Sexual Misconduct Allegations (Office), which is under the authority of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah and coordinated by the Chancellor, Archpriest Alexander Garklavs. Among other important issues, the SMPAC discussed that there is a misunderstanding as to the purpose of the Committee.
