The Primates exchanged greetings on the occasion of the upcoming feast of the Nativity of Christ, which the Orthodox Church in America will celebrate on December 25, according to the Revised Julian calendar. During the conversation, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill shared with His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon warm memories of his visits to America, including Alaska. As His Holiness noted, the year 2020 marks a jubilee: fifty years ago, on April 10, 1970, Patriarch Alexy I of Moscow and All Russia, of blessed memory, signed the Tomos of Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in America. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill invited His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon to visit Russia when the sanitary and epidemiological situation allows it. Having expressed condolences over the demise of the former OCA Primate, Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor), who fell asleep in the Lord on October 19, 2020, the Primate of the Russian Church shared recollections of his meetings with Metropolitan Theodosius over the years. His Holiness also offered condolences to His Beatitude Tikhon over one more loss that had befallen the Orthodox Church in America: Archbishop David of Sitka and Alaska passed away in November 2020. His Holiness mentioned, in particular, that this hierarch had been among those accompanying His Beatitude Tikhon on his visit to Moscow in 2019. His Beatitude Tikhon expressed condolences over the demise of Metropolitan Feofan of Kazan and Tatarstan, with whom he had been personally acquainted. During the conversation, His Holiness Kirill noted with gratitude the position of the Synod of the Orthodox Church in America on the situation in Ukraine. The Primates discussed how the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church in America were coping with the restrictions caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Among other issues raised during the conversation was the completion of restoration works at the Church of St.Catherine the Great Martyr in-the-Fields – the OCA Representation in Moscow. Archive His Holiness Patriarch Kirill greets Primates of Local Orthodox Churches with the Nativity of Christ 7 January 2020 year 16:00 His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent Christmas greetings to His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Ilya II of Georgia, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania, His Holiness Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, and His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada. The message reads as follows: Please accept my heartiest greetings with the great feast of the Nativity of Christ. Today the promise of our salvation, which was heralded through the prophets in ancient times, is fulfilled. Amazed at the mystery of God’s Incarnation, St. John Chrysostom exclaims with awe: “The feast of all feasts has come and filled the universe with joy. The feast of the crowning of all virtues, the source and root of all our blessings” (Homily on the Nativity of Christ). The Eternal Word of the Heavenly Father is seedlessly born from the Most Holy and Most Pure Virgin Mary. In our minds stepping under the vaults of the Bethlehem cavern together with the wise men, in awe at the meeting with Jesus the Divine Infant, we are repeating with affection the song of the angelic host: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Lk 2:14). Mindful of the astonishing humility and mercy of the Saviour, we are called to work without idleness for the sake of the preservation of the church unity, and to consolidate our efforts in order to overcome the arising disagreements, heal the divisions and restore the canonical order wherein it was destroyed. On this great and holy day I prayerfully wish you good health and bountiful help from the Lord for many years of your Primatial ministry. With brotherly love in Christ, +KIRILL PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 7 December 2023 year

Metropolitan Onufry recalls St. Tikhon’s ministry during banquet address Mission must be both internal and external, said His Beatitude, Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine during the formal banquet during the 18th All-American Council on Thursday evening, July 23, 2015. The Holy Spirit, he said, guides us in understanding that mission is “who we are and what we do” and challenges us to be good “examples of holiness.” Metropolitan Onufry reflected on the ministry of Saint Tikhon, who had served as bishop and later archbishop in North America from 1897 through 1907. He observed how, upon Saint Tikhon’s return to his homeland, it was clear that he had been influenced by his tenure in North America, especially with regard to his commitment to mission and outreach as well as collegiality within the life of the Church. This, in turn, influenced his ministry during his last years—years of certain turmoil and persecution. Metropolitan Onufry attended the AAC at the invitation of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon and the Holy Synod of Bishops. He was accompanied by His Grace, Bishop Evsevy of Khotinsk. Also present was His Grace, Bishop John, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA. Metropolitan Onufry also addressed AAC delegates during the Plenary Session held earlier in the day. He observed that in the Council he sees the result of the mission to North America “because, in the eyes of all who are present at this Council, I see Christ. This is evidence of the good fruit brought fourth as a result of the mission of Saint Herman of Alaska as the Church faces current issues of missionary service in the world and, in particular, in North America and Ukraine.” In his greetings to the assembly, Metropolitan Tikhon expressed his gratitude to all who participated in the AAC and contributed to the “wonderful events” that had taken place during the week. He emphasized, that “we are each called to be apostles, to love God above all and our neighbor as our selves.” Greetings were read from His Eminence, Archbishop Leo of Karelia and All Finland, who had been invited to the AAC but was unable to attend. Archbishop Leo extended an invitation to Metropolitan Tikhon to visit the Church of Finland at a future date. 27 июля 2015 г. Смотри также Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

“Patriarch” Philaret slandered Metropolitan Onuphry to Ukrainian parliament Moscow, March 21, 2017 Metropolitan Onuphry. Photo: Pravoslavie.ru      As previously reported , the schismatic “Patriarch” Philaret Denisenko of the so-called “Kievan Patriarchate” went before the Ukrainian parliament at a ceremonial meeting in honor of the centenary of the 1917-1921 Ukrainian revolution and called the clergy and faithful of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church “fools” for remaining canonical within the Moscow Patriarchate. Not only did he insult the Orthodox Church, but he slandered its primate His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, considered by many a bulwark of Orthodox spirituality. According to the phony patriarch, Metropolitan Onuphry refused to honor those whom President Poroshenko awarded as Heroes of Ukraine, declining to stand up for them and saying, “We cannot respect killers.” In his view, this means His Beatitude is unworthy to serve the Ukrainian state. “Patriarch” Philaret thus pandered to his base, built on nationalism and a disdain for Russia. The Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has repudiated this accusation today, saying, “It is impossible to find the source that this was quoted from, because it never belonged to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.” Furthermore, the topic of celebrating Ukrainian heroes was never broached between Philaret and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, so he certainly did not hear such a statement in person. Additionally, the metropolitan has often visited frontline regions to support Ukrainian soldiers and the civilian population and himself celebrated the funeral service over departed Ukrainian heroes, unlike “Patriarch” Philaret. 21 марта 2017 г.
