It is based on the text of the liturgical Gospel, which was printed in 1905 by the Moscow Synodal Printing House, reports Tserkovny Vestnik ( " Church Bulletin " ). The structure of the book corresponds to the traditional editions of altar Gospels. The large print of the Gospel " s main text is easy to read. Advantages of computer formatting allowed for the placement of text on the pages conveniently and beautifully. The church calendar, which includes the order of Gospel readings, feasts and saints throughout the year, is supplemented with names of the saints, who have been canonized in recent years, with Gospel readings appointed for their feast-days. A list of Gospel readings for the general services to the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church in the 20th century is added to the section, where common Gospel readings according to categories of saints are indicated. The Gospel is printed in the traditional Church Slavonic script (Triodion) in two colors. The book comes in a durable hardcover format. Archive The Moscow Synodal Choir gives a concert as part of the Patriarchal International Festival of Church Music ‘The Light of Christ’ 11 November 2021 year 11:28 With a blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, the annual Light of Christ Patriarchal International Festival of Church Music has been held since 2021. The musical event is held with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives in implementing projects in the sphere of culture, art and creative industries and the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture. The Moscow Synodal Choir in one of the participants in this festival.   The festival is co-organized by the Russian Culture Foundation, the Patriarchal Church-Society Council for developing Russian church music and the Academy of Choral Culture Foundation.   On November 9, the Moscow Synodal Choir and the Voce Anima Orchestra gave a concert as part of the festival. The conductors were Russia’s Honoured Artist Alexy Puzakov and Mikhail Kotelnikov.   The musical event was held in one of the best concert halls in today’s Moscow - the Council Chamber, a historical building of the Moscow Diocesan House.   In the first part of the concert, the choir performed compositions by eminent musicians who maintain close cooperation with the Moscow Synodal Choir and entrust the choir with performing their best works and premiere compositions, namely, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), Andrey Mikita, and Anton Viskov. The listeners heard His Eminence Hilarion’s compositions “Praise the Name of the Lord”, “Great Doxology”, “In Thy Kingdom”, “To Thee we sing”; Andrey Mikita’s hymn “The Master’s Pilgrimage”, Anton Viskov’s “Lord, have mercy” and “The Most Holy Theotokos”. Soloists: Alena Kuznechikova, Anastasia Zubkova and Anastasia Artamonova.   In the second part of the musical evening, the unique cantata by young composer Mikhail Kotelnikov “Octoich” composed for soloists, a mixed choir, an orchestra and drums was performed. It was composed in 2021. It is intended to be of eight parts according to the number of tones in the conventional system of church octoich singing. The idea to compose such a cantata came to the author at the time of the 250th anniversary of the first Church Slavonic edition of Octoich, which came out in Moscow in 1772. Archive Pilgrim group from Russian Orthodox Church takes part in patronal feast of Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos 10 August 2018 year 18:34 With a blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and in compliance with the Holy Synod Resolution of June 14, 2018, a pilgrim group of the Russian Orthodox Church visited Holy Mount on August 7-10 to participate in the celebrations held on the day of the patronal feast of the Russian Monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos.  The group was led by Metropolitan Kirill of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye. It included Bishop Seraphim of Bobruisk and Bykhov; Bishop Victor of Baryshevka, vicar of the diocese of Kiev; and D. Petrovsky of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations. On August 7, at Macedonia airport the delegation was met by the Russian Federation Consul General in Salonika, A. Scherbakov, and V. Potapov, a staff member of the consulate. On the same day the guests arrived in the St. Panteleimon on Athos. On August 8, the delegation visited the Protos and venerated the shrine of the Monastery of Iveron. In the evening, the festive All-Night Vigil was celebrated in the main church of the monastery. On August 9, Metropolitan Kirill presided over the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated in Greek and Church Slavonic. Among his concelebrants were Bishop Seraphim; Bishop Victor; Archimandrite Alexis, abbot of the Xenophontos Monastery; Archimandrite Yevlogiy, abbot of the St. Panteleimon monastery; brethren of the community and its guests in holy orders. Among the worshippers were S. Gavrilov, chairman of the State Duma committee for public associations and religious organizations; representatives of the Russian general consulate; numerous pilgrims from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Serbia and other countries. After the liturgy and the procession with the cross, Metropolitan Kirill read out a message of greetings from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. On August 9 and 10, Metropolitan Kirill and his party visited the Xenophontos and Vatopedi monasteries and after that left Holy Mount Athos. Much more than half the lay members of the patriarchate, for example, now reside in North America, and many of the Greek Orthodox there are so thoroughly Americanized that some of them have forgotten their ancestral language. The Phanar continues to exercise jurisdictional oversight over several Slavonic rite dioceses in “exile,” Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and Albanian, which put themselves under the patriarchal protection in the difficult times following the large flight westwards from communist oppression in the early part of the 20th century. The question of the continuing need for “exile” is a current point of inter­Orthodox tension. The patriarchate today continues a policy, evident among its leaders from the beginning of the 20th century, of encouraging the senior hierarchs of world Orthodoxy to meet regularly and intercom­municate on wide levels. It has sponsored Orthodoxy’s international dialogues with other non-Orthodox Churches, and despite frequent shrill cries from some of the most traditionalist Orthodox critics of its behav­ior, it has done so with enormous wisdom, charity, and reserve; never rushing into statements or deeds that it would have to regret or later withdraw. Its model in ecumenical communication has been to establish a “dialogue of love.” The present Patriarch Bartholomew I is an internation­ally renowned voice for preservation of the world’s ecosystem, and a strong and respected moral teacher of international stature on issues of compassion and justice. Catholics serve there until 9:00 in the morning, and after that, the Orthodox serve. Therefore, the church utensils must be brought out for every service, and removed afterwards. Discussions are taking place with the archbishop of Udine about granting the Orthodox a permanent church, where an iconostasis can be set up. The parish is multi-national. The majority are Ukrainian and Russian, a third are Georgian, and there are also Moldavians and Serbs. Some Catholic Italians come—the husbands of our women. A church is a place where all want to feel at home, to hear the services in the language they are used to praying in. Therefore, besides the main Church Slavonic language, the Moldavian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Serbian, and Italian languages are also heard. The Italian language is becoming the lingua franca—many Georgians and Serbs no longer speak Russian. Fortunately, even amidst such diversity the parish has been able to avoid inter-ethnic conflicts. Clear become the Savior " s words, that in Christ there is neither Greek, nor Jew. After services, people remain at the common meal. All share their problems and joys, and learn about new jobs. The parishioners are learning to care about each other, and live as one family. The monastic calling is to pray for the whole world, and that is why our people so love monasticism. Neither has the Lord deprived Friuli of monastic prayer. Two women parishioners from the parish have chosen the monastic life, and labor in monasteries in the Ukraine. There is also a monastery here in Montegnero (in the Veneto region, on the border of Friuli); it was founded by Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom), and is now in the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The abbess is from Crete, the sisters from the Ukraine and Latvia. On the feast of the Dormition according to the Julian calendar, the sisters came to the parish and delighted the parishioners with their Byzantine chant. The parish has its own website , where they publish news and the schedule of services. Everything in the world happens by God " s Providence. The Lord turns people " s suffering and problems to the good. Finding themselves in a foreign land, people cross the threshold of the church for the first time in order to remain there forever. Having become " strangers and pilgrims, " the faithful from Orthodox countries brought the light of Christ " s faith to places where it was dying out. And Orthodoxy in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia is not an accidental phenomenon, but an ancient faith, which needs to be shown to the world anew. This our compatriots " purpose in Italy. John Anthony McGuckin St. Isaac the Syrian (7th c.) JOHN A. MCGUCKIN Also known as St. Isaac of Niniveh, one of the great ascetical and mystical writers of the Eastern Church. Isaac was a monk of the Chaldaean Church (or Assyrian Church of the East) from Beit Quatraye, possibly Qatar on the Persian Gulf. He was appointed bishop of Niniveh sometime before 680, but after a few months in the position resigned his charge and returned to the solitary life of an ascetic. In later life he became blind from his scholarly labors. His spiritual authority and the beauty of his writings on prayer and mystical experience made his works cherished by both the rival Monophysite and Nestorian factions of the Persian Church of his time. In the 9th century his texts on ascetical prayer were translated from the Syriac into Greek and Arabic versions, and came to Byzan­tium shortly after, where they had a large impact on the developing hesychastic spir­itual theology. Isaac lays great stress on the sensibility of the grace of God in the heart, and is one of the most mature and gentle authors on the spiritual life from Christian antiquity. His writings were treasured on Mount Athos and highly regarded by St. Paisy Velichovsky in the time of the Philokalic revival (18th century) of Greek and Slavonic monastic spirituality. In recent years lost works have been rediscovered, and by virtue of new English translations he is once again becoming known as one of the great masters of early eastern Christian spirituality. Archive Metropolitan Antony of Korsun and Western Europe celebrates Liturgy at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Hong Kong 29 September 2019 year 20:53 On 29 th  September 2019, Metropolitan Antony of Korsun and Western Europe, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad, officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the chapel of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.  Concelebrating with the archpastor were Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev, rector of the parish; Archpriest Dimitry Lukyanov, cleric of the Belgorod diocese; Priest Anatoly Gun; and Deacon Sergy Kalashnikov, staff member of the Administration for Institutions Abroad. The Liturgy was celebrated in the Church Slavonic, Chinese and English languages. Praying at the divine service were Mr. Igor Sagitov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Hong Kong; Mr. Dmitry Petrovsky of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church relations; and parishioners of the church. After the Liturgy Metropolitan Antony greeted the members of the Orthodox community of Hong Kong and conveyed to the worshippers blessings from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad presented the parish with a set of church utensils for administering the Sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation. Metropolitan Antony also handed over a Patriarchal award – the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, 3rd Class – to Archpriest Dionisy Pozdyaev in consideration of the twenty-five years of his service to the Church in the rank of presbyter. Metropolitan Antony warmly greeted the Consul General of Russia in Hong Kong. During a meeting that took place after the Liturgy the arhpastor and Mr. Sagitov discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the cooperation between the Russian diplomatic representation and the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul. While in Hong Kong, Metropolitan Antony of Korsun and Western Europe visited the old colonial cemetery where he celebrated a litiya at the grave of the first rector of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Archpriest Dimitry Uspensky. Это связано с тем, что лингвистический анализ используется при проведении судебных экспертиз 1 . Понятно, что подобный анализ принадлежит синхронии и исследования языка вражды в основном опираются на описания современных словоупотреблений. Анализировать тексты прошлого на предмет использования в них языка вражды намного сложнее 2 и, строго говоря, правомерность применения современного концепта «hate speech» по отношению к текстам прошлого неочевидна. А при анализе богослужебных текстов проблема усложняется еще больше. Это связано, во-первых, с тем, что они написаны на церковнославянском языке, а мы воспринимаем их, опираясь на значение соответствующих слов в русском языке 3 . Во-вторых, уничижительные характеристики еретиков и иноверцев являются характерной особенностью литургической поэзии. Традиция подобной резкости восходит еще к текстам Ветхого завета. Поэтому пассажи, которые с точки светского этикета являются оскорбительными, в контексте богослужения кажутся нормой. Однако человеку Нового времени практически невозможно избежать влияния светского этикета и светских представлений о норме. Именно с этим связано то, что в XIX – начале XX века регулярно предпринимались попытки смягчить резкие характеристики еретиков и иноверцев. В настоящей статье речь пойдет об исключении из богослужебных книг слов и выражений, оскорбительных для иноверцев. В 1911 году А.А. Покровский, готовя библиографическую заметку, посвященную чинам присоединения к православию, резюмировал свой труд следующим образом: «Все эти издания чинопоследований, повторяя друг друга, не представляют каких-либо разночтений. Изменены, или, точнее, смягчены согласно с духом времени только некоторые отдельные выражения» 4 .
