Tweet Нравится Fundraising begins to install monument to Nicholas II in Diveyevo Moscow, November 23, 2016 Photo: http://www.pravoslavie.ru/ On November 17 representatives of the St. Basil the Great Charitable Fund and the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolia announced the beginning of collecting donations for installing a monument to the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II. The monument, which will also be dedicated to the family of the Russian tsar, is to appear at the Holy Trinity-St. Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent as early as 2017. Founder of the St. Basil the Great Charitable Fund Konstantin Malofeyev; Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas; Abbess Sergiya of Diveyevo; representatives of the business community and public organizations that honor the history and hope for the resurgence of the former glory of Russia were present at the event, reports Tsargrad TV . According to Konstantin Malofeyev, “the Russian people are beginning to realize the gravity of the crime of apostasy and betrayal of the tsar.” He also stressed that they have also now come to realize the significance of the martyrdom of the Holy Emperor Nicholas II and his family. The date of unveiling of the monument was not chosen at random—2017 will mark the 100th anniversary since the tragic events of 1917. The location was chosen intentionally as well. The St. Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent and the family of Nicholas II are inseparably interconnected. It is much to the credit of St. Nicholas II that the holy elder Seraphim of Sarov, the patron of Diveyevo for many years, was canonized. The emperor insisted on his glorification in spite of the opposition of almost all the members of the Holy Synod. “The ceremony of the Church canonization of Venerable Seraphim took place on July 19 (August 1 according to the new calendar), 1903. The imperial family along with thousands of people from all corners of Russia took part in it,” representatives of the metropolia noted. Translated by Dmitry Lapa Pravoslavie.ru 24 ноября 2016 г.

American College Of Pediatricians On Same-Sex Marriage Ruling: ‘A Tragic Day For America " s Children’/Православие.Ru American College Of Pediatricians On Same-Sex Marriage Ruling: ‘A Tragic Day For America " s Children’      In a statement released Friday, the president of the American College of Pediatricians said the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage will have a significantly negative impact on children in the United States.    Dr. Michelle Cretella, president of the College, said: [T]his is a tragic day for America’s children. The SCOTUS has just undermined the single greatest pro-child institution in the history of mankind: the natural family. Just as it did in the joint Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton decisions, the SCOTUS has elevated and enshrined the wants of adults over the needs of children. The College, which has members in 44 states and in several countries outside the U.S., joined in an amici brief in Obergefell v. Hodges , the case that has led to the legalization of same-sex marriage in all 50 states of the nation. In the brief, the amici stated what is often the case when sound research is ignored by the left when it fails to support their causes: Despite being certified by almost all major social science scholarly associations—indeed, in part because of this—the alleged scientific consensus that having two parents of the same sex is innocuous for child well-being is almost wholly without basis. All but a handful of the studies cited in support draw on small, non-random samples which cannot be extrapolated to the same-sex population at large. This limitation is repeatedly acknowledged in scientific meetings and journals, but ignored when asserted as settled findings in public or judicial advocacy. The College itself has maintained that a significant body of research has demonstrated that “same-sex marriage deliberately deprives the child of a mother or a father, and is therefore harmful.” 2 июля 2015 г. SPC condemns possible removal of church in Kosovo GRAANICA, October 3, 2012 The Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Raška-Prizren Eparchy opposed on Tuesday the removal of an unfinished church in Priština. The eparchy also opposed its turning into a memorial museum of Kosovo Albanians, underlining that this constituted an open call for discrimination and continued destruction of the Serb heritage in Kosovo. The eparchy voiced concern over " the relentless campaign by Kosovo hard-line media aimed at turning the Cathedral Church of Christ the Savior into a memorial museum of Kosovo Albanians or removing it completely. " The Raška-Prizren Eparchy strongly condemns the ideas that could be heard at the recent meeting of the Senate of the Kosovo University in Priština, as an attempt to infringe not only on the property rights of the SPC, which in the early 1990s obtained a building permit for this church in centre of Priština in keeping with the law, but most importantly on religious rights and freedoms of the Serb Orthodox population in Kosovo. " At a time, when in the centre of Priština, in the vicinity of the Church, a huge Roman Catholic Cathedral has been built, and works on one of the largest mosque in the Balkans are being planned, the intention to destroy or desecrate the unfinished Cathedral Church of Christ the Savior in the vicinity of the University building constitutes an open call for discrimination and continuation of the process of destruction of the Serb spiritual heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, " the eparchy said in a statement. " The idea that the church should be turned into a memorial museum of Kosovo Albanians is particularly cynical and immoral, taking into account that almost the entire Serb population was forced to leave Priština, so now only around 50 elderly people remained out of 40, 000 Serbs, " the eparchy added. " The calls coming from the circles of the University of Priština for the destruction of a Christian church in the centre, which has been for years now used as a landfill and public toilet, send a message to the world about open intolerance and religious hatred which after the armed conflict in Kosovo and Metohija led to systematic destruction of 150 Serb Orthodox churches and sacrilege of hundreds of Christian graveyards, " the eparchy noted. Blessing of St. Vladimir Statue in Smolensk August 31, 2015 Photo: Patriarchia.ru      The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill consecrated a statue of Kievan Prince Vladimir in Smolensk in western Russia on Sunday. The statue, which now adorns the picturesque embankment of the Dnieper River, reminds Smolensk residents of the year 990 when the local population was baptized by Prince Vladimir, which is evidenced by historical chronicles. The ceremony of unveiling of the statue was attended by Russian Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov and acting head of the Smolensk Region Alexei Ostrovsky. The monument is a 4-meter bronze statue mounted on a 5-meter base. Prince Vladimir of Kievan Rus who presses an Orthodox cross to his chest overlooks the Dnieper River. With his right hand, the Prince points to the river in whose waters Smolensk residents were baptized. The statue was made by member of the Russian Artists’ Union, Smolensk resident Valery Grashchenkov. His project was endorsed personally by Patriarch Kirill. The Monument to Prince Vladimir in Moscow Another monument to Prince Vladimir is set to be opened in Moscow. However, heated debates have erupted over the place of the statue’s location. The Moscow city authorities have announced plans to unveil the Prince Vladimir monument on the bank of the Moskva river on November 4, when Russia marks People’s Unity Day. The 25-metre statue featuring the Prince with an Orthodox cross in his hands was supposed to overlook Moscow from Sparrow Hills, the capital’s highest point, with its back to one of the famous Stalin skyscrapers, Moscow State University. However, the Russian Military-Historical Society urged the Moscow authorities to find a different location for the statue, commemorating 1,000 years since Prince Vladimir’s death. The society said that plans to unveil the statue on Sparrow Hills “raised public concerns” and could be dangerous as the land in this area was unstable. More than 50,000 Muscovites signed an online petition against the statue’s construction, fearing the 330-ton monument could slide down the hill, a popular tourist site. Meanwhile, over one-third of Muscovites have voted that the huge statue of Prince Vladimir of Kiev should be unveiled in a square next to the Kremlin, according to information earlier posted on the Active Citizen project’s website. “A total of 34.67% [of Muscovites] voted for Borovitskaya Square,” the statement said. Lubyanka Square, the former home of a famous statue of Bolshevik revolutionary “Iron” Felix Dzerzhinsky, got 32.12% of the votes. More than 234,500 Muscovites took part in the vote. 31 августа 2015 г. Смотри также Комментарии Мы в соцсетях Подпишитесь на нашу рассылку

St. Ephraim the Bishop of Pereyaslavl, Kiev Caves, Far Caves Commemorated on January 28 Photo: Days.Pravoslavie.Ru Saint Ephraim of the Caves, Bishop of Pereyaslavl, before his tonsure into monasticism, was treasurer and steward of household affairs at the court of the Kiev Great Prince Izyaslav (Demetrius) Yaroslavich (1054-1068). Weighed down by this noisy and bustling life and wishing to become a monk, he was accepted by Saint Anthony of the Kiev Caves and was tonsured by Saint Nikon (March 23). The enraged prince demanded that Ephraim return, threatening to lock him up in prison and to destroy the Monastery of the Caves. Saint Anthony and the brethren left the monastery and decided to go to another place. Izyaslav, however, feared the wrath of God. He took his wife’s advice and withdrew his forces from the monastery in disgrace. Saint Ephraim wished to go on pilgrimage to the holy places abroad. With the blessing of Saint Anthony, he journeyed to Constantinople and settled there in one of the monasteries. While in Constantinople, Saint Ephraim made a copy of the Studite monastic Rule, and took it to Kiev at the request of Saint Theodosius. As soon as he received the Rule, Saint Theodosius implemented it in his monastery. After the year 1072 Ephraim was made bishop in Pereyaslavl, with the title of Metropolitan. He adorned Pereyaslavl with many beautiful churches and public buildings, and he built stone walls around the city in the Greek manner. He built free hospices for the poor and travelers, and constructed several public bath-houses. In the year 1091, Saint Ephraim participated in the opening and solemn transfer of the relics of Saint Theodosius. A Life of Saint Ephraim existed in former times, but it has not survived. We find an account of him both in the Life of Saint Theodosius, and in the Russian Chronicles. A tale and encomium for Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker is ascribed to Saint Ephraim. Saint Ephraim died in the year 1098. He was buried in the Antoniev (Far) Caves of the Kiev Caves monastery. His memory is also celebrated on September 28 and on the second Sunday of Great Lent. Скачать epub pdf Bishop Raphael Hawaweeny was canonized in the Spring of this year, 85 years after his dormition. The decision was made by the Synod of the Orthodox Church in America, working in close connection with the local Archdiocese of the Antiochian Patriarchate. The religious press and especially the Orthodox Church in America have thoroughly described the event and my intent is not to duplicate materials already published on that subject. I would like only to share some thoughts with the readers of Jacob’s Well about the contemporary significance of the recent canonization for Orthodoxy in our country. The life of St. Raphael reflects accurately the catholic unity of the Church and his pastoral ministry remains an example for priests and bishops everywhere. I do not intend to recount his life which has been published together with the liturgical service in his honor, but I would like to shed light on some points which have nowadays a special significance for the Orthodox Christians living in America. Undoubtedly his ethnic origin and the religious education he received seems to have predestined St. Raphael for his future ministry as is rightly emphasized in a phrase of his kontakion where he is called «son of Syria and glory of North America.» Then the idea of overlapping episcopal jurisdictions had not yet come to maturity. Such an attempt against Church order had been solemnly condemned by a council held in Constantinople in 1872 which coined that heresey as ethno-phyletism (ecclesiastical nationalism). The missionary work in North America had been initiated and organized by the Russian Church during the eighteenth century. St. Raphael took care primarily of the Arabic-speaking Christians in North America while belonging to the Russian Church which was, according to the canons, the only existing jurisdictional entity. Moreover, he publicly stated in front of St. Tikhon, his archpastor that the latter had been sent to America «to tend the flock of Christ: Russians, Slavs, Syro-Arabs, and Greek. Having passed away in 1915, he did not witness the devasting impact of the Bolshevik Revolution on the life of Orthodoxy in North America. To be sure, the Revolution was not the only facto of the ensuing canonical disorders in our country. Nevertheless, it was the starting point in the process of jurisdictional fragmentation and the very fact that such deficiencies have not already been overcome should be a matter of reflection. Holy Hierarchs are praised in the Church as Rules of Faith and Images of Humility. Let us fervently pray to St. Raphael in order that he supplicate the Lord God for the good order of His Church in America. Читать далее Источник: Peter, archbishop (Paul L " Huillier).
