Over the past six years the campaign has raised more than 2.5 million hryvnia (about for the treatment of children with cancer, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists . Let our heart’s desire to help the little ones suffering unite our efforts and make the impossible possible. Let us be merciful, wiping away the tear from a child suffering from cancer, assuaging the suffering of his exhausted body! May even the most modest offering become a gift of life!” the message reads. The charity drive “Bright Deeds for the Bright Day” has been held annually during Lent since 2011 by the initiative of the Sumy Diocese and the Sumy branch of the Ukrainian Telecommunications Company. Donations are collected at churches, charity concerts, fairs, and by individuals and organizations. | The publication is devoted to the unknown letters of Holy Confessor Athanasius (Sakharov), the Bishop of Kovrov, to the Holy Martyr Metropolitan Kirill (Smirnov) and St. monk-martyr archimandrite Neophyte (Osipov), who were called by friends as «Abba». In the letter to Metropolitan Kirill (Smirnov) St. Athanasius has literally outlined the content of his unknown letter to the Deputy of the Patriarchal Locum Tenens, Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky). In this letter the Bishop says about the reasons for his departure relating to the abuse of power that was permitted by Locum Tenens Peter (Polyansky) to Metropolitan Sergius. The relationship between Bishop Athanasius and the closest in spirit to him Church leaders were shown in the letters: Metropolitan Kirill (Smirnov) and Archimandrite Neophytos (Osipov). Texas announced it will remove government funding for Planned Parenthood affiliates via the state " s Medicaid program. Governor Greg Abbott " s office announced late Monday that Texas Health and Human Services Commission sent a letter to the abortion provider notifying them of the defunding. In a statement, Gov. Abbott explained that the move to end Planned Parenthood " s Medicaid participation came because of the series of undercover videos released by a California-based pro-life group. " The gruesome harvesting of baby body parts by Planned Parenthood will not be allowed in Texas and the barbaric practice must be brought to an end, " stated Abbott. " As such, ending the Medicaid participation of Planned Parenthood affiliates in the State of Texas is another step in providing greater access to safe healthcare for women while protecting our most vulnerable — the unborn. " In the notice of termination letter, sent by the Office of Inspector General to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, the state laid out what it called " a series of serious Medicaid program violations. " " You failed to prevent conditions that would allow the spread of infectious diseases among employees, as well as patients and the general public. Specifically, you allowed individuals posing as commercial buyers of fetal body parts to handle bloody fetal tissue while wearing only gloves, " reads the letter. " Your staff were not trained in infection control and barrier precautions with regard to the handling of fetal blood and tissue or they failed to comply with the minimum standards that mandatory training requires with regard to these critical public health and safety issues. | Archive Conference on interfaith and inter-civilizational cooperation takes place in Berlin 20 November 2018 year 15:22 On 19 November 2018, an International Conference on Improving the Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue to Cooperation was held in the German capital. The participants in the conference were greeted by Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazadeh, chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Caucasus; Mr. Markus Grübel, Member of the Bundestag and Commissioner for Global Freedom of Religion of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany; and Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany. Among those who delivered addresses at the conference were His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria; Metropolitan Gerasim of Zugdidi and Tsaishi (Georgian Orthodox Church); Archbishop Alexander of Baku and Azerbaijan; Bishop Serafim of Bobruysk and Bykhov; Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), vice-chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; as well as other prominent religious leaders, statesmen and public figures from Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA. Bishop Viktor of Baryshevka, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Representation to the International and European Institutions, read out a message of greetings from the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The letter of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, addressed to the organizers and participants of the conference, reads, in particular: “The need to develop the interfaith and inter-civilizational dialogue and cooperation is constantly increasing in today’s world. The world that we live in is becoming a more global space, in which races, religions and cultures are interacting. The developments in one country affect the life of other countries and sometimes even of entire continents. While differing in background, culture and religion, we are getting ever more closely connected with each other. In these new circumstances we, representatives of various religions, should strive to build up our life in dialogue and cooperation.” The concluding documents were adopted at the results of the conference. | Council of European Bishops’ Conferences expresses solidarity with Russian Orthodox Church in the face of increased anti-Christain and anti-church sentiments October 30, 2012 The Presidency of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences ( Consilium Conferentiarum Episcoporum Europae or CCEE) sent a letter to the DECR chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, expressing their solidarity with the Russian Church in the face of anti-Christian and anti-church sentiments increased, in particular, in Russia in the recent months. “…with regard to the numerous and increasing manifestations of discrimination against Christians in different countries and of anti-Christian and anti-church sentiments which have been increasing especially in the Russian Federation in the recent months, we would like first of all to assure you of our deep solidarity”, – Catholic hierarchs write in the letter. “During the last Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences last September, it was concluded that unfortunately in many European countries God is seen more and more as a private matter in culture, law and the public sphere, – they also say. – The CCEE Presidency is deeply convinced that this view is not at all respecting human dignity and furthermore it does not respect the concept of religious freedom as it is defined in international documents.
