Greek liberals are displeased with bringing of relics of St. Barbara to the country Athens, May 13, 2015      An influx of a great multitude of faithful to the holy relics of Greatmartyr Barbara has produced an immense impression on the Greek secular media. The journalists call the number of those willing to venerate the relics “unprecedented” and they are trying to explain the reasons for this phenomenon. The relics of Greatmartyr Barbara are permanently kept at the Basilica of St. Mark (San Marco Cattedrale) in Venice and have arrived on the territory of an Orthodox country for the first time in 1000 years, reports AgionOros.ru.      The relics were received in Greece with state honors. This circumstance as well as a multitude of the faithful flocking to the relics have provoked a negative reaction among the Greek liberals. They are also displeased with the plans to bring the relics to a number of Greek hospitals. “It upsets them that a huge amount of people are flocking to the relics. They should understand they have failed to uproot the faith from the hearts of Greeks and will never succeed in it,” stressed Metropolitan Makarios of Sidirokastro. Commenting on the outrageous statement of N. Phylis, member of the ruling Syriza party, who described what is going on as “a relics trade”, the metropolitan said: “Had he taken the liberty of saying similar things to Muslims, he would simply have been killed. It is inadmissible to insult the Orthodox faith, established on the sacred bones of our forebears.”      The To Potami (“the River”) Greek liberal pro-European party has made harshly anti-Orthodox statements. The party leader, Stavros Theodorakis, earlier already made critical remarks about bringing the Holy Fire to Greece; and now, once again, he has ventured to comment with much irony on the visit of the St. Barbara’s relics to the state. In her turn, spokeswoman for the Independent Greeks party (which joined the government coalition led by Syriza in January this year) Marina Chrysoveloni has commented on the statement by the To Potami leader. She has expressed her indignation at the behavior of the politician who, On the one hand, is defending the rights of the Muslim minorities, and, on the other hand, “is ridiculing the Orthodox faith: this position is based on the destructive pseudo-progressive policy and national nihilism”. 14 мая 2015 г. Archive Churches of the canonical Church have been attacked again in Rovno region in Ukraine 15 May 2019 year 09:42 Supporters of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” continue capturing churches in the Rovno diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In the last two days, worship buildings have been attacked in four villages of the region. Thus, on May 12, 2019, the church of the Protecting Veil was captured in the Mnishin village, Goshcha district, Rovno region. In the morning, OCU supporters blocked the gates and kept out parishioners who came for the service, including the rector of the church, Archpriest Vladimir Furmanchuk. A fight followed, with church raiders not hesitating to push and beat women. Some men were seriously injured. The police, who came in response to a call, just looked at what was happening from the side. Eventually, the OCU blocked the passage to the territory and after a brief “prayer” installed their own locks on the door. On the same day, the St. Nicholas church in the Pevche village, Zdolbunov district, Rovno region, was captured. After the beginning of conflicts provoked by the OCU supporters, an agreement was reached that the church would be closed until the court ruling on its ownership. However, on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, the schismatics violated this agreement, cut off the locks and occupied the building. The day before, May 11, schismatics attempted to capture the church of the Protecting Veil in the Byderazh village, Zdolbunov district, Rovno region. The raiders came to the church under the pretext that they would conducted “a prayer” and initiated verbal stoushes with parishioners of the canonical Church, while several “activists” crept around the worship building, broke the fence and burst into territory. It was followed by a fight in which law-enforcement officers interfered. During the night of May 12, the OCU supporters, using a metallic crossbar, blocked the entrance to the temporary church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the Bushcha village, Zdolbunov district, Rovno region. The St. Michael church, which belongs to the canonical church, had already been captured by schismatics last February. Since that time, the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have had to worship in the parish house. The faithful and the rector have received regular threats and demands that they should leave the village and stop celebrations. The religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church continues defending its rights legally and asks its brothers and sisters in faith to pray for them, the website  Pravoslavnaya zhizn  reports. “Moldova has no future without the Orthodox faith”—President Igor Dodon Moscow, March 17, 2017 Photo: Foma.ru      At a March 16 meeting near Moscow, newly-elected Moldovan president Igor Dodon spoke with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on the great importance of the Orthodox faith for the future of his country. The primate welcomed the president to his residence in Peredelkino just outside of Moscow, congratulating him on his election in November 2016, reports the site of the Moscow Patriarchate. “I would like to sincerely congratulate you, Igor Nikolaevich… Perhaps the main reason for your victory is your principled position of advocating for the national interests of your country and the interests of the people,” said His Holiness. “I know you are an Orthodox Christian, openly declaring your relationship to the Church, and to Christian moral principles. All of this inspires hope in your success in service to the people of Moldova,” he continued. The primate noted that such a principled stand is invaluable in today’s Europe which is going through a serious period of difficulties and apostasy from faith in Christ. The Orthodox faith is especially important for Moldova, where more than ninety percent of the people identify as Orthodox. President Dodon thanked His Holiness for his congratulations and wishes and expressed confidence that Russia and Moldova were entering a new stage of strategic partnership. “You know my position,” the president said. “I believe that without the Orthodox faith, without our traditions, Moldova has no future. Moldova needs a partnership with Russia; Moldova absolutely needs to preserve and strengthen our Orthodox Church. Indeed, we are now going through a very difficult period, but I am sure that with faith we will get through it all,” stated the head of state. Dodon also thanked Patriarch Kirill for his attention to the development of Orthodox life in Moldova: “Believe me, you are loved in our country, and we very closely follow all your transmissions, all your words.” “I am confident that a unified faith can be one of the main factors contributing to the unification of our country,” emphasized President Dodon. 17 марта 2017 г. Archive Primate of Orthodox Church of Antioch receives delegation of Russian parliamentarians 22 January 2019 year 15:32 On 17 January 2019, the Russian delegation led by Mr. Dmitry Sablin, deputy of the State Duma and vice-chairman of the ‘Combat Brotherhood’ veteran organization, visited the residence of the Patriarch of Antioch in Damascus and met with His Beatitude Patriarch John X of the Great Antioch and All the East.  The delegation included Mr. Sergei Gavrilov, president of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy and deputy of the State Duma; Mr. Dmitry Belik, deputy of the State Duma; and representatives of the Russian charitable organizations and entrepreneurs. Taking part in the meeting were also Bishop Luke of Seidnaya, vicar of His Beatitude Patriarch John, and Hegumen Arseniy (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of the Great Antioch and All the East. Summing up the results of the meeting, Mr. Sergei Gavrilov noted that the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch supported the intention of the Russian Orthodox Church to preserve the unity of canonical Orthodoxy all over the world. Patriarch John X expressed his opinion that “the schism in Ukraine organized by those who are not Orthodox Christians is a political process under religious cover,” and his regret that the Patriarch of Constantinople “does not hear the voice of faith.” “There is a risk that the schismatics will become extremist groups, alien to Orthodoxy. Attempts are being made by the Western structures to undermine the integrity of the Orthodox Church of Antioch in Syria. It is necessary to prevent the unfolding of the anti-Orthodox scenario in the bosom of one of the most ancient Orthodox Churches. The Orthodox Churches of Antioch and Russia have unique ties,” Mr. Gavrilov said. The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch conveyed cordial greetings to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with the anniversary of his enthronement. His Beatitude Patriarch John thanked Mr. Sablin and the ‘Combat Brotherhood’ organization for their financial aid in restoring the Convent of St. Thecla in Maaloula that had been seized and partly destroyed by militants during the war. After the meeting the members of the delegation, accompanied by Bishop Luke, proceeded to the Patriarch Maryamieh Cathedral in Damascus and prayed at the molyeben celebrated there with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch John by Hegumen Arseniy. ROCOR HOLY SYNOD on Pan-Orthodox Council Texts Communication of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia to the Clerics and Faithful—13 April 2016. The process of addressing the pastoral needs of any given age is one which requires both tremendous prayer and ascetical devotion from all Christians, but also the dedicated, deliberate work to ensure, in any document the Church may put forward, the faithfulness to the Gospel we have inherited. All such texts, now as throughout history, go through many stages of preparation and revision; and the fact that we, together with others, have identified serious problems with some of the documents pending consideration by the forthcoming Council should be a cause for neither fear nor anxiety. Archive Archbishop Michael of Prague: Baptism of Russia is the most important event in history of Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian nations 29 July 2021 year 09:10 “Allow me as member of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Land and Slovakia to congratulate you on behalf of the Plenitude of our Church on the anniversary of the joyful and the most important event in the history of the Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian nations - the Baptism of Rus’”, said Archbishop Michael of Prague addressing His Beatitude Onufriy, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine after the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated on the 28th of July 2021, at the cathedral square of the Kiev-Pechersk Laura of the Dormition. “Today we solemnly mark the commemoration day of the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles, who baptized Rus’ 1033 years ago and led his people to the faith in true God”, he emphasized, “In the history of our fraternal nations there are a strikingly great number of parallels. Our St. Prince Rostislav Equal-to-the-Apostles invited holy brothers Cyril and Methodius to Great Moravia. The enlighteners of the Slavs translated the liturgy and Holy Scriptures into the language understandable to all Slavs. Centuries later, thanks to St. Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostle the works of the holy brothers and their disciples brought forth their fruits in Rus’. The seeds cultivated in Great Moravia became a mighty tree in Rus’, and the crown of this tree spreads above the Slavic peoples to this day. The adoption of the faith of Christ has become for our people not only a spiritual blessing but also the beginning of enlightenment and development of statehood and magnificence”. Noting that today the Lord sends trials to the Ukrainian people and the Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Michael said, “But in these trials the true faith of Christians is tempered and strengthened”. The hierarch also mentioned that in the churches of the Orthodox Diocese of Prague, a prayer is always lifted up for the peace and unity of the Church in Ukraine and for strengthening mutual understanding between people. Addressing His Beatitude Onufriy, Archbishop Michael noted, “Your Beatitude, dear Metropolitan, tirelessly and from my heart I pray to our Lord Jesus Christ that He may preserve, protect and strengthen the holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church governed by Your Beatitude lawfully and in accordance with canons. May the All-Good Lord give us power, patience and wisdom and protect the Orthodox Ukrainian people and His Holy Church. Undoubtedly, the Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles intercedes for her before God. We believe that the day will come when no evil will or evil power will breach the peace and quiet of our life because God and His entire heavenly host are with us!” DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 7 December 2023 year

Catholics serve there until 9:00 in the morning, and after that, the Orthodox serve. Therefore, the church utensils must be brought out for every service, and removed afterwards. Discussions are taking place with the archbishop of Udine about granting the Orthodox a permanent church, where an iconostasis can be set up. The parish is multi-national. The majority are Ukrainian and Russian, a third are Georgian, and there are also Moldavians and Serbs. Some Catholic Italians come—the husbands of our women. A church is a place where all want to feel at home, to hear the services in the language they are used to praying in. Therefore, besides the main Church Slavonic language, the Moldavian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Serbian, and Italian languages are also heard. The Italian language is becoming the lingua franca—many Georgians and Serbs no longer speak Russian. Fortunately, even amidst such diversity the parish has been able to avoid inter-ethnic conflicts. Clear become the Savior " s words, that in Christ there is neither Greek, nor Jew. After services, people remain at the common meal. All share their problems and joys, and learn about new jobs. The parishioners are learning to care about each other, and live as one family. The monastic calling is to pray for the whole world, and that is why our people so love monasticism. Neither has the Lord deprived Friuli of monastic prayer. Two women parishioners from the parish have chosen the monastic life, and labor in monasteries in the Ukraine. There is also a monastery here in Montegnero (in the Veneto region, on the border of Friuli); it was founded by Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom), and is now in the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The abbess is from Crete, the sisters from the Ukraine and Latvia. On the feast of the Dormition according to the Julian calendar, the sisters came to the parish and delighted the parishioners with their Byzantine chant. The parish has its own website , where they publish news and the schedule of services. Everything in the world happens by God " s Providence. The Lord turns people " s suffering and problems to the good. Finding themselves in a foreign land, people cross the threshold of the church for the first time in order to remain there forever. Having become " strangers and pilgrims, " the faithful from Orthodox countries brought the light of Christ " s faith to places where it was dying out. And Orthodoxy in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia is not an accidental phenomenon, but an ancient faith, which needs to be shown to the world anew. This our compatriots " purpose in Italy.
