Anniversary of the Repose of Metropolitan Philip Source: Antiochian.org Metropolitan Philip of Thrice-Blessed Memory Celebrates Pascha in 2013 His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph writes: Beloved in Christ: Greetings to you and your families as we begin our season of fasting, prayer and almsgiving. I pray you are having a blessed beginning of the Fast. March 19 will mark the one-year anniversary of the falling-asleep of our beloved Metropolitan PHILIP of thrice-blessed memory. It is hard to believe a whole year has already passed since our father and chief-shepherd of more than 48 years reposed. His life and legacy will continue to be with us and inspire us for many years to come. May God rest his soul with the saints and may his memory be eternal! So that we might commemorate this anniversary in a unified way, I am directing all of our hierarchs and clergy to hold Trisagion Prayers of Mercy in their respective parishes throughout the entire archdiocese on Sunday, March 22 (the Fourth Sunday of the Fast) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. I will preside over the official memorial at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn, NY on that Sunday along with several guest hierarchs from our sister jurisdictions. Along with any of our hierarchs that might be able, any clergy who would like to join me that day for the liturgy are also welcome to do so as long as they have a replacement for their respective parishes and their churches remain open. If you wish to be present and to serve in the Cathedral that Sunday, please contact the Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Thomas Zain, at abounathomas@me.com . While the one-year memorial traditionally marks the end of the official mourning period in the Church, I urge you to continue to remember our late father in Christ in your proskomedia commemorations and personal prayers, keeping in mind all we have inherited from his tireless labors and prayers over almost half a century. Wishing you a blessed and spiritually rewarding Fast, I remain, Your Father in Christ, +Metropolitan JOSEPH, Primate Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of all North America 17 марта 2015 г. Archive Metropolitan Hilarion attends theological conference devoted to St. Paul 27 June 2019 year 17:58 On June 26, 2019, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), attended the 25th international academic theological conference on “The Service of the Church According to St. Paul”, which took place in Veria. It is organized annually by the Metropolis of Veria of the Greek Orthodox Church and assembles hierarchs and theologians from various Local Orthodox Churches. This year, among the attendees were hierarchs from the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem, Moscow, Georgia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, and the Orthodox Churches of Cyprus, the Greek Orthodox Church, and the Polish Orthodox Church. Metropolitan Hilarion addressed the participants with words of greetings. He conveyed to the organizers and participants in conference a message of greeting from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and stressed that “already for a quarter of a century, hierarchs, clergy, monastics and lay people from many Local Orthodox Churches have been assembling in Veria so that in this historic place we could look mentally at the legacy of the Apostle of the Gentiles, who spoke unto us the gospel of God with much contention (1 Thes. 2:2)” “In the task of preaching and serving, Paul gives an outstanding example of fulfilling the commandment of our divine Teacher to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). To implement this calling the Lord gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up (Eph. 4:11-12)… so that the building of the Church could be joined together and risen to become a holy temple in the Lord (Eph. 2:21)”, His Eminence said. He also underscored that “our preaching will be convincing only when we will do all possible to preserve the God-commanded unity and love. The Russian Church and our Christ-loving people cherish the ages-old fraternal bonds uniting us with the Greek people and the Church of Greece. Trusting in God’s mercy, we pray that this unity in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3) may remain unshakable in face of hostile elements of this world and intact amidst hard trials that the world Orthodoxy is experiencing in our days”. Then Metropolitan Hilarion read a paper on “The Teaching of St. Paul on Predestination to Salvation (on the basis of the Letter to the Romans)”. In conclusion, His Eminence presented his new book on St. Paul and spoke about the importance of the legacy of this holy apostle for Christian theology. St. John the Theologian alone records the raising of Lazarus, since the other Evangelists omitted it—perhaps because Lazarus was still living and able to be seen. It is said that the rest of the Gospel of John was written about the eternal begottenness of Christ, the other Evangelists including nothing about this. It is desired to believe that Christ is both the Son of God and God, that He is risen, and that there will be a resurrection of the dead. And because of the raising of Lazarus, this is especially to be believed since his resurrection is a confirmation of the universal resurrection of man. Therefore, from this event, every man who has already died is said to be a " Lazarus, " and the burial garment is called a Lazaroma, for the word alludes to the remembrance of the first Lazarus. For if Lazarus was raised by the word of Christ and came back to life again, so all men, even if they have died, will rise at the last trumpet and live eternally. Through the intercessions of Your beloved friend, St. Lazarus, О Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen. Troparion, Tone 1 Giving us before Thy Passion an assurance of the general resurrection, Thou hast raised Lazarus from the dead, O Christ our God. Therefore, like the children, we also carry tokens of victory, and cry to Thee, the Conqueror of Death: Hosanna in the highest; blessed is he that comes in the Name of the Lord. Kontakion, Tone 6 Christ, the joy of all, the truth, the light, the life, the resurrection of the world, in His love appeared to those on earth; and He became Himself the pattern of our resurrection, granting divine forgiveness unto all. 26 апреля 2013 г. Lazarus is a Hellenized form of Eleazar, which means " God has helped. " In the church of St. Lazarus in Larnaka, Cyprus, is his tomb, which was discovered in 1890 with the inscription, " Lazarus the four-days-dead and friend of Christ. Archive His Holiness Patriarch Kirill greets Primates of Local Orthodox Churches with the Nativity of Christ 7 January 2020 year 16:00 His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent Christmas greetings to His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Ilya II of Georgia, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania, His Holiness Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, and His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada. The message reads as follows: Please accept my heartiest greetings with the great feast of the Nativity of Christ. Today the promise of our salvation, which was heralded through the prophets in ancient times, is fulfilled. Amazed at the mystery of God’s Incarnation, St. John Chrysostom exclaims with awe: “The feast of all feasts has come and filled the universe with joy. The feast of the crowning of all virtues, the source and root of all our blessings” (Homily on the Nativity of Christ). The Eternal Word of the Heavenly Father is seedlessly born from the Most Holy and Most Pure Virgin Mary. In our minds stepping under the vaults of the Bethlehem cavern together with the wise men, in awe at the meeting with Jesus the Divine Infant, we are repeating with affection the song of the angelic host: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Lk 2:14). Mindful of the astonishing humility and mercy of the Saviour, we are called to work without idleness for the sake of the preservation of the church unity, and to consolidate our efforts in order to overcome the arising disagreements, heal the divisions and restore the canonical order wherein it was destroyed. On this great and holy day I prayerfully wish you good health and bountiful help from the Lord for many years of your Primatial ministry. With brotherly love in Christ, +KIRILL PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA DECR Communication Service /Patriarchia.ru Календарь ← 7 December 2023 year

In conclusion, I want to tell you the main thing: if your child, a boy or girl, says to you, “Mama, papa, I want to devote myself to God and leave for a monastery,” do not hinder him and don’t go against this desire that was placed in him by God. You commit the greatest sin if you prevent him—an even greater sin than if you destroyed a church. And I’ll tell you why. If you destroy a church, we will gather money and build it anew. But if you thwart your child in his sacred calling, this evil cannot be mended. It is a great honor and great blessing for a family to give its child to God to become a monk or nun. Metropolitan Jeremiah of Gortynos and Megalopolis Translated by Jesse Dominick St. Elizabeth Convent 6 марта 2017 г.  This prayer comes from the Order of Preparation for Communion.  Strictly theologically speaking, virginity is indeed man’s natural condition, as the condition of Adam and Eve before the Fall is considered man’s natural condition, with his fallen nature being below or against nature, and with the possibility of rising above nature in Christ. The Fathers unanimously teach that virginity reigned in Eden before sin. Note that Met. Jeremiah is speaking of what is “natural” for man in his sub-natural state.   Ladder of Divine Ascent  15:7  This is referencing the priest’s exclamation in the Anaphora, “Let us lift up our hearts,” to which the people reply, “We lift them unto the Lord.”  Met. This arbitrary ban seems to be yet another demonstration of the “unofficial” second-class status of Christians in Turkey. As the scholar Robert Spencer puts it: That t he Greek Orthodox need special permission to celebrate divine services in any of their churches in what is now Turkey is a dark reminder of the Islamic oppression of Eastern Christians from the mid-7th Century to today, and for the Greeks, especially from the Muslim conquest of Constantinople in 1453 through the defeat of the Ottoman Empire by the Western Powers during World War I. Today, Greek-speaking Orthodox Christians are a tiny, dwindling minority in Turkey -- around 2,500 people -- and the community routinely faces discrimination. “Christians are certainly seen as second-class citizens,” Walter Flick, a religious expert with the International Society for Human Rights in Germany, told the publication DW. “A real citizen is Muslim, and those who aren " t Muslim are seen as suspicious. Christians aren " t equal. They don " t have full rights.” PJ Media 7 октября 2016 г. Those who have read the prophecies of Ayios Paisios and Geronda Iosif Vatopaidinos know that when the issue of the examilia (six miles) is raised, (the six miles being the six nautical mile radius which is Greek territory around the Greek islands), then you know war is near. Once Greece and Turkey withdraw their embassies, then Turkey will hit some Greek islands, Russia will smash Turkey to pieces, and the third world war will kick off. All these are well documented prophecies that can be read on the internet or seen on youtube.
