Archive Cleric and his flock have returned from schism to canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church 9 July 2019 year 11:05 On 8 July 2019, Metropolitan Antony of Borispol and Brovary, chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, met with a community of the Church of the Dormition in the village of Morozovka, Borispol diocese. Rev. Nikolai Brega, suspended for his deviation into the schism, repented and expressed his wish to return to the bosom of the canonical Church. The Information and Education department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church referring to Metropolitan Antony’sYouTube, he accepted repentance of the former cleric of the diocese and blessed him to return to the bosom of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, saying: ‘As a ruling bishop of the Borispol diocese I accept your repentance. Let us pray to the Lord, asking him to unite that was separated. I hope, Fr. Nikolai, for your conscientious position as well as that of the whole parish.’ Metropolitan Antony reminded those gathered that schism is a sin against the Church. He called ‘the substitution of the Church of Christ for political surrogate’ a misfortune and added that a man, who succumbed into temptation of betraying his Church, ‘takes the path of Judas. But a Christian can always return. As in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, the Lord and the Holy Church are always expecting to embrace this man.’ The hierarch underscored that the Church should not deal with matters of political order. The Church is for the soul and its salvation. You have returned because the Lord has touched your souls and led you to repentance.’  Metropolitan Antony wished the priest and parishioners to leave the temptations behind and be faithful even in the face of pressure and deception. Rev. Nikolai Brega said that the decision to return was taken by the entire community. ‘We discussed the matter during the whole month and resolve d that it was necessary to return to the canonical Chirch and stay far away from any politics. The truth is there where God and the Church, grace and the Holy Spirit are’. So, the whole community has repented and returned to the Church which has nourished us,’ he added. Eucharist, Bishop, Church: The Unity of the Church in the Divine Eucharist and the Bishop During the First Three Centuries Источник Preface Although this work is historical in its method and content, it is not a product of historical curiosity. At a time when church unity occupies an increasingly central place in theological study, the contribution of our theology is required not simply as an academic demand, but also a fundamental debt owed to the Church. In order to fulfill the demand and pay the debt, our theology can no longer fall back on the sources of its own confessional riches. The gradual abandonment of the confessional mentality of past generations and the recognition of the need for our theology to be an expression not of one confession but of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church herself, now directs the course of theological study towards the sources of the ancient undivided Church. A Church which, in spite of all the disputes and conflicts by which she was often shaken, was always well aware of what is meant by the catholic consciousness of the Church. This holds true, most especially for the study of the unity of the Church which aims to provide our divided Christian world with that supra-confessional thread which will help it to rediscover and actualize its unity through the midst of its various divisions. For those coming from the Orthodox tradition, a reliable method of turning towards the sources of the ancient undivided Church is through study of the liturgical life of our Church. The reproach leveled at our Church that she has remained through the centuries a “community of worship” today, proves to be the best guarantee of a sure route back to the consciousness of the ancient undivided Church. For the liturgical life of our Church which is characterized by its conservatism and traditional character has not succumbed to overloading with non-essential later elements, but continues to reflect in a changing contemporary world the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church of every age, worshipping in one body.

Archive Prayer vigil held in Vinnitsa in defense of the rights of communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church 4 December 2021 year 09:43 A prayer vigil took place on December 3, 2021, in defence of the rights of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church communities in Vinnitsa, Ukraine. It was held at the building of the Regional State Administration by the faithful from villages of the Murovanye Kurilovtsy district and priests serving in the provincial center. According to the Pravoslavnaya zhizn’ [Orthodox Life] website, By the vigil they expressed their protest against the unlawful actions of the head of the Vinnitsa Directorate for the Affairs of Ethnicities and Religions Igor Saletsky who has re-registered communities of the canonical Church in favour of the schismatic ‘OCU’. “It became known on December the 2nd that I. A. Saletsky resumed the procedure for re-registering the UOC community at the Snitkov village, Mogilev-Podolskyi Region”, explains the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church diocese of Vinnitsa, “It has become the last straw for the faithful’s patience. Moreover, Saletsky has ignored the decision of the Kiev Administration Court to ban any registration actions at the Snitkov village (as well as at Berbovets, Kotyuzhany and Bakhtyn). People wanted to express for the umpteenth time their protest against the actions of this impudent official”. The action at the Regional State Administration was announced by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church dioceses of Vinnitsa and Mogilev-Podolskyi in their official resources. By the noon of December 3, the clergy and parishioners of the Murovanye Kurilovtsy deanery of the diocese of Mogilev-Podolskyi were expected to come to Sobornaya Street, but the day before, representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and local police intimidated the bus drivers and prohibited them from driving the faithful to Vinnitsa for the prayer vigil. Many had to go to the regional center on their own, but not all of those who wished to participate get there. At the building of the Vinnitsa Regional State Administration, the priests held a prayer service. In addition, a briefing was given by secretary of the Diocese of Vinnitsa Archimandrite Arkady (Senchukovsky), dean of the Murovanye Kurilovtsy church district of the diocese of Mogilev-Podolskyi Archpriest Vasily Balan and leader of the Miryane [Laity] public organization Vasily Makarovsky. After the action, its participants handed over their demands and petitions to chairman of the Vinnitsa Reginal State Administration Sergey Borzov through his deputy. The main demand is the dismissal of Igor Saletsky from office, as he stirs up inter-confessional discord in the region and unlawfully re-registers communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Archive Holy Synod considers problems arising in preparations for Pan-Orthodox Council 3 June 2016 year 20:20 During the session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on June 3, 2016, it was noted that in the run-up to the Pan-Orthodox Council, serious problems arose demanding urgent joint Orthodox actions. “The decision that the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church made on June 1, 2016, as well the continued uncertainty as to the possibility for the Patriarchate of Antioch to attend the Holy and Great Council, just as the absence of preliminary consensus on the draft Working Procedure of the Council and the document “The Sacrament of Marriage and Impediments to It” mean that at the present moment when only two weeks remain before the planned date of the opening of the Council, there are serious problems demanding urgent joint Orthodox actions”, the Holy Synod’s resolution states. The Holy Synod adopted the Russian Orthodox Church’s amendments to the draft documents on “The Relations of the Orthodox Church with the Rest Christian World” and ‘The Mission of the Orthodox Church in Today’s World”. The amendments were formulated on the basis of judgements voiced by hierarchs, clergy, monastics and laity. It is stated in the Synod’s resolutions that as a result of the discussion held by the Orthodox Churches of Georgia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece as well as the Holy Kinot of Holy Mount Athos on the draft documents of the Pan-Orthodox Council, essential amendments were presented, consonant to a great extent with the proposals made by the Russian Orthodox Church, demanding a substantial consideration with the aim to find general Orthodox consensus. The Holy Synod noted that nonparticipation of even a single Church in the Council constitutes an unsurmountable obstacle for the holding of the Holy and Great Council, considering that its decisions can be made only by consensus, as it follows from the provisions of the documents approved by the Synaxis of the Primates of the Local Churches. In accordance with the resolution of the Holy Synod, a way out of the emergency situation could be found in the holding of an extraordinary pre-Council conference to consider the situation and to examine the amendments to the Council’s documents so that agreed proposals may be developed. As a result of this conference, the Holy Synod’s resolution states, a judgement could be made as to the possibility of holding the Pan-Orthodox Council at the planned date. The position of the Russian Orthodox Church Holy Synod will be brought to the notice of the Primates of all the Local Orthodox Churches. Календарь ← 7 December 2023 year
