Petroniu Tnase Was Buried At Prodromu Skete February 26, 2011 Father Petroniu Tnase , who spent his last 33 years of life at Prodromu Skete at Mount Athos, and the last 25 as abbot of this Romanian settlement at the Holy Mount depending on the Great Lavra Monastery, was buried today in the skete cemetery. His Grace Bishop Hrisostom celebrated the burial service in the big church of Prodromu Romanian skete according to the tradition of the Holy Mount Athos. The Romanian Patriarchate was represented by a delegation headed by Rev. Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei, great eclessiarch of the Patriarchal Cathedral and cultural exarch of the Archdiocese of Bucharest. Fr. Timotei announced to Trinitas Radio station: “The funeral service began at 14:15 and ended at 17:30. Close to fifty hieromonks, priests and deacons served, with His Grace Chrysostom presiding. Bishop Chrysostom, former head of the Athonite School of Theology of Athoniada is a hierarch in residence at the Great Lavra Monastery. Also present were priests representing His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, who arrived at the Holy Mount to attend the funeral.... Many Romanians who were on a pilgrimage to Mount Athos came to pray together with the monks from Prodromu, and monks the other Romanian monastic settlements spread all over Mount Athos, on this day when we hope his soul raised to the One whom he served constantly, with much piety, fear of God and love for all those whom he met.” Father Protosingelos Petroniu Tnase passed away on February 22, 2011, aged 94. He was born in Frcaa locality, county of Neam. He joined Neam Monastery, where he became a monk on September 22, 1942. From Neam, he was called to Antim Monastery of Bucharest, where he continued his intellectual formation, graduating the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, and attending courses of mathematics and philosophy. In 1947, he was ordained hieromonk for the Patriarchal Cathedral, and then sent to teach homiletics, catechetics and pedagogy at the Monastic Seminary of Neam Monastery. A hard period for the missionary monk began with the onset of the totalitarian regime, and he was forced to leave Neam Monastery in 1959. It was with much courage and zeal for the Church Christ, our Saviour, and the same never ending love for the monastic life that he retired to the community of Sihstria Monastery in 1964, where he lived till 1978, when he left for the Romanian Skete of Prodromu of the Holy Mount Athos. | Activist: Rebels Robbing Homes, Desecrating Churches in Kessab Latakia, Syria, March 23, 2014 Rebels in Kessab Around 400 families from Kessab have taken refuge in Latakia following attacks on their town, while the fate of several individuals who have stayed behind remains unclear, the Armenian Weekly has learned. “Many Armenian families are staying with relatives and friends, while others have sought refuge in the Armenian Church and the church’s hall,” said Syrian Armenian community activist Nerses Sarkissian during a phone interview with Weekly editor Khatchig Mouradian. “The Aleppo Armenian Prelacy as well as the Red Crescent are providing relief and assistance to these families in Latakia,” Sarkissian added. Rebels engage in robbery and desecration Rebels who have entered Kessab are desecrating churches, pillaging houses, and destroying government buildings, Sarkissian told the Weekly. A few Syrian Armenians have been unable to leave Kessab, and their fate is unclear, he added. Sarkissian underlined that the rebels came from the Turkish side of the border and are receiving support from the Turkish military. He noted that the injured among them are being transported back to Turkey to receive medical attention. Assyrian International News Agency опубликовало доклад об этнических чистках ассирийцев в Ираке. 88-страничное исследование содержит информацию о нападениях на христианские общины, церкви, убийствах клириков, вандализме в отношении христианских символов, сообщает " Седмица.Ру " . Ассирийцы, проживающие на территории Ирака принадлежат к нескольким христианским общинам. Чуть менее половины из них (46%) являются прихожанами Вавилонской Халдейской (Халдо-католической) церкви. 26% ассирийцев принадлежат к нехалкидонской Сиро-Яковитской церкви, 19% - к несторианской Ассирийской церкви Востока. Кроме того, в Ираке проживают общины сиро-католиков и некоторые др. христианских церквей. Насилие исламистов в отношении ассирийцев обусловлено предрассудками шариата, утверждают авторы доклада. Всего понтифик назначил 23 новых членов в конгрегацию, в том числе шесть настоятельниц нескольких мужских монашеских общин – наряду с кардиналами и епископами, тем самым нарушив вековые традиции, запрещавшие подобные назначения. | First healthcare school of Romanian Orthodox Church opened by patriarch of Romania His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, opened on Thursday, September 1 the first healthcare school of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The training institution is a part of the Orthodox Theological Seminary of Metropolitan Niphon in Bucharest and is protected by Saint Nektarios. Both educational institutions opened their doors Thursday for the new 2016-2017 school year. The opening ceremony started with a Te Deum service officiated by His Grace Timotei of Prahova, assistant bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest. In his homily the patriarch of Romania spoke about the responsibility one has for helping his neighbors. He also thanked those who supported the opening of a healthcare school within the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Bucharest. This blessed day, we give thanks to God and to everyone who became the hands of His merciful love, and through whom God works in helping and promoting the activities of Metropolitan Niphon Theological Seminary in Bucharest. The new school which opens today, the healthcare school, represents a necessity in order to show that health, as a gift from God, must be kept, cultivated and recovered when it degenerates. The school is the fruit of cooperation between Church and state, the Romanian patriarch noted. This post-graduate healthcare school is a necessity and, at the same time, an aid and a joyful cooperation. It is a joyful cooperation between Church and state authorities, by which medical science meets spiritual culture. The prayer of the hospital chaplain completes medical science so that both the body and the soul can receive a blessing from God for recovery and salvation, because salvation means union between man and God – the Source of eternal life. | Explosion kills Christian in Gaza as faiths unite in strife Gaza City, August 5, 2014 The first known Palestinian Christian has been killed in an explosion in Gaza in the continuing military conflict with Israel. Israel-Gaza hostilities. Jalila Ayyad, a 65-year-old woman from Gaza, was found dead in a pile of torn Bibles, China " s State-run Xinhua News agency reported. " When a missile or a tank shell is fired, it doesn " t differentiate between a Muslim and a Christian. " The Christian churches and other Christian institutions in Gaza prove that there is no need for a Muslim and Christian divide. Since the war broke, the Christians brought hope to the hundreds of displaced Muslims. The Holy Family School, the Greek Orthodox parish, and the Greek Orthodox Cultural Center have all opened up their facilities to serve the refugees. The Al Ahli Hospital continues to serve the community free of charge. A small Baptist community in Gaza also continues to serve its Christian members. While it is no longer holding church services, Pastor Hanna Maher still holds house meetings to encourage the members. The Baptist church is dangerously situated right across the street from a police station. The police station has been attacked several times, the Open Doors rights group said. Sami El-Yousef is encouraged with how Christians are responding. " The Christian mission is certainly at its best. These brave souls who are personally risking their lives continue to comfort the injured and displaced, and provide assistance to the weak and marginalized with the Gospel in their hearts. Врач заверил ее, что полет безопасен, пишет издание Daily Mail. К сожалению, врач девушки ошибался — через 34 минуты полета выяснилось, что у Кендрии отошли воды и начались схватки. Ее сестра позвала членов экипажа, которые начали искать людей с медицинским образованием.
