Macedonia wants to give monument of St. Clement of Ochrid to Kiev Caves Lavra Moscow, February 20, 2017 Photo: 2000.ua Macedonia has expressed the desire to give a monument to the Slavic writer, hierarch, and saint, Clement of Ochrid to Ukraine, possibly to the Holy Dormition Kiev Caves Lavra. This was announced after a meeting of Ukrainian Minister of Culture Eugene Nischuk and Macedonian ambassador Stole Zmejkoski, reports 2000.ua . “During the meeting we discussed the question of establishing a monument to the pan-Slavic enlightener St. Clement of Ochrid on the territory of the Kiev Caves Lavra, as a gift from Macedonia to the Ukrainian people,” said a source in the Ukrainian ministry. The question will be decided by UNESCO after examining documentation and sketches to ensure that the monument would not have a negative impact on the state of the ancient Ukrainian monastery. Nischuk assured the ambassador that the Ministry of Culture will facilitate the implementation of the project. St. Clement (+ 916) was a disciple of Sts. Cyril and Methodius and the first Slavic writer. After the death of St. Methodius he fled from the Latin persecution into Bulgaria. Bulgarian Prince Boris I sent St. Clement to preach in the western part of the first Bulgarian Kingdom, particularly to Kutmicevica and Ochrid. There he established the Ochrid literary school, one of the oldest cultural centers of the Bulgarian Kingdom in the Balkans. He was unanimously elected the first “Bishop of the Slavic Language” at the national council of 893. Tsar Simeon made Clement the bishop of Wieliczka, and according to some he later became bishop of Belgrade. He was the first Bulgarian hierarch to serve, preach, and write in the Slavic language. 20 февраля 2017 г. Archive Patriarch Kirill’s book Thoughts for Each Day of the Year published in Italian 18 March 2021 year 15:54 Thoughts for Each Day of the Year  – a book by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia – has come out in its Italian translation. The edition includes fragments from His Holiness’s homilies, scholarly articles, addresses, speeches, books and interviews for over 35 years of his pastoral ministry. The book allows its readers to learn more about Patriarch Kirill as a pastor of the Church of Christ, a thinker who addresses topical issues of the present-day world, and a man with profound spiritual experience and unique charisma of a preacher. Each day of the calendar year is marked by a certain passage. In the foreword to this edition, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, rector of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies, notes that while the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, first and foremost, attends to his Church and flock and seeks answers to the questions of importance for believers in Russia and near abroad countries, he is also concerned over the current developments in the countries of the European Union, in America and the Middle East. He raises a wide range of topics. At the same time, when opening this book, the reader should not forget that underlying all the manifold activities of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill is one principle which he himself regards as fundamental: serving God and the Church in all things and with total devotion. The publication of this book in the Italian language is an evidence of the European public’s interest both in the personality of Patriarch Kirill and in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Italian translation was done by Giovanna Parravicini. The edition was prepared by Poznaniye Publishing House together with the Russkiy Mir Foundation. Archive Billy Graham’s book ‘Happiness of Living in Christ’ presented in CMI 5 March 2019 year 10:12 On March 4, 2019, Billy Graham’s book Happiness of Living in Christ. Billy Graham’s Sermons  was presented at the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies (CMI). The book was prepared by the Poznanie Publishers as part of a joint project of the CMI and the Billy Graham Evangelical Association.  The book was presented by the CMI rector and the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR), Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, and the president of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association, Rev. Franklin Graham, the son of the famous preacher. Opening the presentation, Metropolitan Hilarion said, ‘Billy Graham was not just an outstanding preacher of the 20th century, but also a legendary man’ whose sermons brought together whole stadiums of people. ‘Billy Graham loved Russia and was not shy of this love’, His Eminence stressed, ‘In spite of the confrontation between the USSR and the USA, Billy Graham did not just use to come to our country but also addressed large audiences, including in America, speaking about our country. The metropolitan pointed out to Billy Graham’s Christ-centered sermons. ‘He was a Protestant preacher but the spirit of his preaching was Orthodox. Trough vivid images he managed to bring the Gospel’s message home to people and even convince non-believers’. The son of the preacher and continuer of his cause, Franklin Graham, too, spoke about his father’s love of Russia and the Russian Church: ‘My father’s heart was very much disposed to the people of Russia; he prayed for them, He came not for the sake of politics and for speaking about Christ Who assumed our sins’, the leader of the Evangelical Association recalled. In spite of the fact that Billy Graham ‘did not want to be spoken about himself but wished that all the glory should go only to God, he was delighted at the publication of this book’, the preacher’s son recalled. Metropolitan Hilarion and Franklin Graham also recalled with warmth the only meeting His Eminence had with Billy Graham, which was a great joy for the both. Let us bow down, brothers and sisters, who hunger and thirst after righteousness, with our hearts, to the pure life-giving source of Holy Scripture. Without it, the soul is doomed to decay and spiritual death. With it the soul blossoms, as paradisiacal flowers, saturated with verbal, life-giving dew, worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. The June 2012 Issue of the Journal of Moscow Patriarchate is Out The June 2012 issue of the Zhurnal Moskovsoj Patriarkhii [Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate] is prefaced by a letter from His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk: “Eminent Archpastors, Dear Fathers, Brothers and Sisters: Signing of the Act of Canonical Communion by Metropolitan Laurus and Patriarch Alexiy II in May 2008. A great event occurred in May, 2012: the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The times have faded into the past when Russian Orthodoxy outside of the borders of Russia was divided into jurisdictions, the representatives of which had no ecclesial communion amongst themselves. Behind us now are the times when the Russian Orthodox Church of the emigres was called the “Karlovtsi schism,” while these emigres accused the Moscow Patriarchate of collaboration with the communists. The reasons for division are left in the past, but we have needed years of communication, of mutual recognition, and especially of wisdom, courage and discernment in order to achieve this. The path to unity was difficult, but all the more cherished as a result. Eternal memory to those who contributed to the matter of reunification: His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus of blessed memory. In May, the Russian Orthodox Church ceremoniously marked the feast day of SS Cyril and Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles, the Illuminators of the Slavs. On that day, the fullness of the Russian Church prayed for her Primate, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, who was celebrating his namesday. Participating in the ceremonies with Patriarch Kirill was a delegation of the Greek Church, headed by His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, who was making his first official visit to the territory of the Russian Church. The namesday of His Holiness the Patriarch became a celebration of ecclesiastical unity, when all together, in the ancient Uspensky Cathedral, and later on Vasilievsky Spusk, representatives of Local Orthodox Churches prayed, along with hierarchs of the Russian diaspora, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, a host of bishops and pastors, and thousands of worshipers.” jmp.ru/archiv/Jmp_6_2012_small.pdf Official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad 12 июня 2012 г. ...
