To raise Christian children in 21st century America, parents need all the help they can get from the church and, yes, even the monasteries.

Source: Holy Nativity Orthodox Church Archpriest Michael Gillis 28 December 2016 The Meekness of God The Wrath of God and Christian Apologetics Leaving the Divine Liturgy as a Saint Knowing the Master’s Manger Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down!  That the mountains might shake at your presence.  (Isa. 64:1) A common question people ask a priest goes something like this: “If God is real, why isn’t it obvious to everyone?” One way I begin to answer such questions is by saying something like this: God is obvious to everyone—as obvious as the air we breathe. But just as we easily take for granted and no longer notice the air we breathe (unless there are some unusual pollutants in the air or we are having trouble breathing), so too we easily ignore the obvious reality of God. The only exception to this tendency to ignore the obvious, is when we intentionally pay attention. When I intentionally pay attention to my breathing, I notice the air.   Similarly, unless I work at paying attention to God, I can easily ignore Him.

Multimedia Contact us Искать Искать Children in the Church Source: Mysterion As a pastor, it is my experience that church is the one place where adults can truly become children in the scriptural sense. In the relative safety of a church community, people often let their guard down and uncover all their frailties and foibles (at least unconsciously). Priest Richard Rene 11 August 2014 “And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, and said, " Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18:2-4) Photo: sreda.org I think we can all agree that Jesus had a special place in his heart for children. Children, he tells us, are more open than most to the awareness of the Presence, power and authority of God in the universe. He adds that if we adults want to possess this awareness, we too must make a conscious decision to become like children.
