The Heart of the Scriptures Let Us Be the Light of Christ in the Midst of a World in Darkness Light Up a Fire Inside Yourself and Serve! Christ is “ the true Light ” (see John 1:9).   Those who believe in Him and are members of His One Holy Church, receive His light.   This is how Christians themselves become light, by reflecting the light of Christ that is within.   They cannot keep it to themselves or hide it!  The Lord said, “ You are the light of the world. ..”  (Matthew 5:14).  Christ’s mission for Christians is for them to spread His light to others.

They say such things as: “Are you dumb? Are you a masochist? Don’t you know any better?” They go so far as to ridicule the teachings and sayings of Christ Himself, when they say: “Christians are stupid. You can slap them on the cheek, and they will tell you to keep on hitting them.”

We mourn the innocent victims of the unconscionable van attack in Toronto. Our hearts break for the families who awake to a new reality without their loved ones. We struggle with this senseless act of evil. However, we should not despair. We should not lose hope. We shall persevere and be strengthened by the infinite love and mercy of the Resurrected Lord. Therefore, let us pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives. Let us comfort, support, and give courage to the affected families.

The agenda had many issues, all of which were discussed in detail with the necessary decisions taken in order to enhance the continued cooperation of the Orthodox Churches in Canada and to promote their spiritual endeavours. The Synaxis began in the morning at 10:00 and concluded in the afternoon at 5:00, with the Metropolis offering a Lenten luncheon to all participants. Invited to the lunch were six Consuls Generals based in Toronto representing the following countries: Greece; Cyprus; Serbia; Romania; Bulgaria; and, Ukraine. Each of the six diplomats briefly offered greetings and thanked Metropolitan Sotirios for the invitation, commenting with admiration on the great cooperation amongst the hierarchs and the Orthodox Churches in Canada.

Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy & Saint Paul University sign cooperation agreement A cooperation agreement between the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy and Saint Paul University was signed.  It was ratified in the meeting room of the Senate of Saint Paul University in Ottawa, by the rector of the University, Mrs. Chantal Beauvais and the Metropolitan Archbishop Sotirios of Toronto. Rector C. Beauvais, Vice-Rector, D. Tessier, Father A. Spatafora, Dean of the faculty of Theology and many teachers represented Saint Paul University in this official ceremony. The Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy was represented by Metropolitan Archbishop Sotirios of  Toronto, the Ambassador of Greece to Canada,  Angelopoulos and many other important members of the Theological Academy and Embassy. Saint Paul University is federated with Ottawa University. As it is commonly known, the Theological Academy and Sherbrooke University are twin institutions.  As Sherbrooke University is situated outside Ontario and because of the fact that Canada has a provincial education network, it has been decided that it would be better to have a twin university inside Ontario. After the ceremony of this historical agreement, Ambassador Angelopoulos hosted a dinner at the Canadian Ambassador’s residence for the above mentioned officials.
