Humanism by itself is proven not to be able to produce genuine culture. Only a personalistic anthropology based upon notions of the Person of the Creator and the God-man can provide for authentic culture. The destiny of culture is intrinsically linked with the final goal of man, the mystery of which is hidden in his likeness to the Absolute Personal Creator. Статья The aim of this article is to compare the theological notion of human ‘personality’, which theologians and philosophers of the XX and early XXI century have been so much perplexed by, with the concept of ‘culture’. What is the relationship between these two concepts? What, if any, is the correlation between “culture” and “personality”? Is it possible to describe their synergy? In his work ‘Faith and Culture’, Archpriest George Florovsky asks the question: ‘Is culture necessary for the realization of a man’s personality or is it just no more than outer clothing, which is needed in some cases, but which does not belong naturally to the essence of human existence?’ . In other words, could it be that ‘personality’ is so free and autonomous that its world is determined chiefly by some of its own inner factors, whereas culture is not a necessary element at all, but just an appendage to personal being? The problem can also be formulated in the reverse sequence: whether the genetic influence of a particular person, or a group of persons, over culture is considerable? And if it is, what are the actual ways and means of personality’s impact on culture; is it more of an external-aesthetic nature or can some ontological foundations of such a personal imprint can be pointed to?

Because we are not in complete bondage to the fallen human nature. God has given us another part to our own nature, and that part the Orthodox Church calls our " hypostasis. " The hypostasis, which we would assert is a gift of grace, is our individual personhood. It is this that makes it possible for us to have a degree of freedom from the confines and forces of the fallen human nature. 20 November 2008 What Can the Church Offer the Youth of Today? What Should I Do? Self-righteous Rage Mission and Aggression Aggression occupies a great role in the human history. The history of our species consists of endless wars, fights, and strife. But what exactly is aggression and where does it come from? Holy Fathers unanimously assert that passion, corruption, and mortality entered human nature with the Fall. They are called “the coats of skins” in the Bible, which God gave to the fallen human couple. Man has become like an inane animal, or, as the Church tradition says, he is like  the beasts that perish. This their way is their folly (Psalm 49:13).

They Became One Flesh Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him”… and the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man He made into a woman and brought her to the man… Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh (Genesis 2:18-24). In the very beginning of human existence, God established one of the essential laws of human nature: It is not good that the man should be alone. Even modern philosophy – that of Freud, for example – finds in this law an explanation of the most intimate psychological and physiological impulses of man, although philosophical systems in the Freudian tradition usually loose all sense of balance and measure, and cannot be accepted as such. Even so, it is impossible to deny a fundamental truth to God’s words, for a person in isolation often tends to live for himself, developing a spirit of self-sufficiency, while loosing the sense of responsibility for others and his freedom to love, thereby further isolating himself from true human happiness. So quite naturally, a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Abstract . The article deals with the key provisions of the theological views of St. Theophanes the Recluse on the nature of angels and the soul in comparison with the views of St. Ignatius (Bryanchaninov) on the nature of spiritual beings. The concepts of «ultimate spirituality» and ethereality are comprehended in relation to the essence of angels and the human soul. The final part of this article is devoted to a brief comparative analysis of the judgments of St. Theophan the Recluse and St. Ignatius (Bryanchaninov) on the relation of spiritual beings to earthly existence and the possibility of determining the specific location of angels and souls in physical space.

In this interview he discusses the history of the Albanian Church, its current witness and struggles, and the nature of Christian marriage today. Статья Priest Antoniy Borisov: The Church of Albania is something mysterious for us. We don’t know a lot about it. Can you tell us about your Church, about its modern situation? What problems does your Church resolve today in this modern situation, and what are some of its successes? Deacon Anastasios Bendo: If you’ve been at a Patriarchal Liturgy of your Church, it is sure that you will have heard the name of the Archbishop of Albania, Anastasios, of Tirana and of all Albania. It is an Apostolic Church, existing since the first century. And it is a Church that has a lot of martyrs, that offered a lot of martyrs in the three first centuries of the persecution of the Christian Church, and in Byzantine times continued its life and its effort by being a loving part of the Orthodox Church. From that time since now, the Church of Albania is present in all the areas of Albanian life. It offers a lot of contribution to the cultural, and spiritual and human areas, and even to the national background of our country. Our Church was recognized as a utocephalous in 1937 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, because until then, it was an Eparchy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Of course, this status, that was a little bit special, was more free; it was like an autonomous Church, but at that time because after the fifteenth century we fell under Ottoman rule – we had to be careful. To be careful, in order to preserve all our traditions and our faith. So, in that time, after the Ottoman rule, when our country earned its liberty again, our Church was proclaimed autocephalous and was recognized not only by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, but also by all Orthodox Churches, including the Russian Patriarchate. And our situation is something that it is connected with the past. I mention this briefly.
